  • Rev matching tutorial for INDIA
    Rev matching is used when down-shifting to smooth the transition between gears and prevent shock loads through the transmission. It’s a useful skill for the road and track for both cars and motorcycles.
    When the motorcycle is in motion with the clutch engaged, there is a mechanical connection between the engine and wheels which keep them in sync with each other.
    When shifting, however, depressing the clutch is required. This breaks the mechanical connection between the engine and wheels, and the engine speed is no longer linked to that of the wheels.
    When upshifting, this is usually not a problem, as the tendency of the engine to reduce speed itself without gas will slow it to loosely match the lower speed of the higher gear.
    However, when downshifting, the engine needs to speed up to come to speed with the wheels.
    If the accelerator is not "blipped" (or briefly and quickly pressed to speed up the disengaged engine), the engine will have to take power from the wheels and momentum of the motorcycle to come to speed, which is often accompanied by a sudden deceleration of the vehicle due to the power suddenly going to the engine, often described as a "lurch" or "jolt".
    This sudden external acceleration of the engine through the transmission also causes increased wear on the mechanics of the motorcycle.
    Therefore, a staple of advanced is the "rev match", or "throttle blip", in which the rider quickly brings the engine up to speed with the wheels by use of the throttle.

      @ojastushar8123 Před 5 lety +12

      @Firebolt it's the other way around....... When you blip the throttle it matches the engine speed and the wheel speed putting minimum strain on the clutch. When you slowly let out the clutch, the clutch is being stressed in getting the engine up to higher rpm in the lower gear (ie: matching wheel and engine speeds).you don't have to trust me. One simple Google search will tell you.

      Sorry but I have to disagree. Blipping helps in matching your engine & rear wheel speed and prevents locking of the rear wheel. And most of the pro racers have auto-blippers & quick shifters in their machines.
      EDIT: Blipping in context with rev-matching.

    • @ReganOnWheels
      @ReganOnWheels Před 5 lety +2

      @The Mad Titan It's not a wasted effort. Stopping distance varies a lot under these two different conditions. The stability and preparation for emergency braking or high end cornering can be easily regulated by the proper use of revmatching and blipping. Blipping just for fun and to make the bike roar more is useless, but not when you're using it with a purpose. And yeah, people like you will always address the more informed riders as Pro riders but you will remain an amateur because you're not willing to learn and understand, you're only trying to debate with others with the limited knowledge you possess.

Luck and environment will not always be with you, be prepared to be taking smarter steps for everything. You are speaking from the perspective of a daily city commuter, but when you get out there, it's completely different, and yes it's true that not every biker has a taste for speeds, it means that every rider is different, accordingly with the bikes you're riding. So stop commenting in literally every post on this video trying to justify your cause and belief that is completely self opinionated. No wonder why we don't evolve, adapt, and grow with the rest of the world. Anyways, keep talking about the pro racers and tracks, but never try to go/move out from your city roads and the knowledge that is restricted only to your confinement and uses. Ride safe!

    Safety measures:
    1. Don't try this from 2nd gear to 1st gear, the engine braking is too much on the 1st gear and you might end up locking the rear wheel and skidding to a fall.
    2. Not much suggested for vehicles without a slipper clutch or an auto blipper, it might do some harm to the engine just for some momentary fun. You can do it under emergency situations where you are not confident to use the brakes for the purpose of engine braking without burning the clutch plates.
    3. Don't put too much pressure on the rear brakes along with engine braking because both the engine braking and rear brakes applies friction to the back wheel so with the dual braking power, the back wheel may lock up if you don't have an ABS for the back wheel.
    4. Don't try this while cornering unless you have a cornering ABS and Slipper clutch.
    Ps: There might be doubt as to why I told about engine braking while the video was about rev matching. Both the things are done almost in a similar way and you can use rev matching while doing engine braking so that you don't burn up the clutch plates.

Thing with ninja is that it has a lot of road presence and people often mistake it for a much bigger bike which would be absent on an R3 due to its resemblance to R15, hence lacks the 'special' factor. Ninja lacks a mileage indicator and gear indicator, so do check if it's there on R3

      Doing this wont affect your mileage a lot. Technically by blipping the throttle, you are giving a drop of extra fuel to the engine. Which in turn will reduce the mileage. But in a very light way.

      Not a huge impact to the fuel efficiency. But helps a lot in bringing stability or slowing down the bike before cornering, bumpers or emergency stops. Its a price worth paying

      It's necessary to revmatch. It keeps your engine healthy bcos you are matching the engine speed with the speed of the drivetrain. Which means the engine doesn't have extra load to compensate the missmatched revs. And you will have a smooth ride. Same for cars.
