    This is easier than car brakes.. just bigger and heavier.
    I will say 1 thing tho. Brake on a Mercedes benz (i had a big S class) were prolly the easiest in the world lol

      I have a 1979 Mercedes 300D sedan, the brakes are 2 small cards, 2 pins, slide out, put new ones in, replace pins, dunzo!!

    Do not beat on the pivot pins like that. You will break the spider. Just heat the spider and use air hammer to push out the pin

    Man watching you mushroom the anchor pin before heating them was killing me and having you check s cam play with the brake chamber applied was another and the mack book recommends putting the shoe on the anchor pin first and using the tool to put the roller pin spring on

      As a heavy duty tech, I’ve seen them last for 1-3 years but it all depends on the driver and how heavy they load

    I put my truck in shop yesterday to replace steer brakes and drums , after I get my truck and take it on the road I noticed my truck is shaking around 50to70 mph , I m not sure what it is but It was smooth before the brake job, could it be a bad drums

      Check your radial runout on your front tires...sounds like those are out of round. everytime you pull front tires off, you have to make sure they are within spec as far as radial runout goes...

      hello, it is better if you replace drum and brake shoes, but if the drums are still good you can reuse them, if they're not warped or too worn out

      hello, im not exactly sure, some adjusters require half a turn others 1/4 turn (counter clock)

      Personally I feel every time the shoes are replaced. Usually they both worn together, so why not start fresh. If one wants to reuse, check the inside specifications of the minimum when considered out of specifications.

      If you're working on the trailer yes release the trailer, of working on the truck release the truck brake, yes air tanks need to be full

    It's usually a good move to just cage the chamber instead of messing with the slack adjuster

      Why? Supplying air to the chamber would do the same. There are only two reasons to cage the brake chamber. 1. To allow a truck with a failed chamber to make it back to a shop. 2. To install a piggy back. You will still have to adjust the slack adjuster once you install new brakes anyways.

      They look like 4707 shoes. 4709 has a different style roller pin spri g i believe

      Hello, you can see in 5:31 that the roller got got wider when we hammered it, so we just grinned the edges for the roller to come out easier, (that juslt in case the rollers dont come off easy, thanks for watching!!

      Nah only if they are cracked or grooved out to bad. We usually run them 2 sets pads per drum but sometimes have to change them even after the first set. There are specs for all of this tools to measure it.
