An awesome project, and a beautifully made video as well
Thanks John. I like your wooden routed threads.
Neat, I like that the dial moves and the hand stays still.
That was a beautiful project and a well made video. Loved the music it was so apropos.
Vielen Dank!
I really like that. Well done!
this is really awesome!!
Real artistry here; more than one kind at that.
Thank you :-)
Thank you so much
REALLY AWESOME! How much time takes you, to design&manufacture till the final product ?
Danke von Orlando Florida. 👍
love it.
kenny foster hey I wanna say that to

I'm looking for a second clock to build. This one is great. They really aren't hard to build, just takes time and care.
good design
great video, very fitting and cool music (whats the name if the music btw!?), and a truly awesome clock-build. Ill visit your website to build one of these myself. keep up the great work mate.
Thank you. You can find the name of the music and a link to it in the description box.
great!!!!
Thanks.
a lovely clock - how often do you need to wind it
Hi Craig. Thank you. This clock has a runtime of one day. You can read more about it at my website:

A greeting from Egypt and I want to work this hour how to communicate and how much price

First off, great job. I am impressed with all your work.
Could you answer a couple quick questions? This is a 4-wheel drive train. Correct? Since the escape wheel has 30 teeth and 8 pinion leaves, the 3rd wheel has 65 teeth and 8 pinion leaves and the center wheel has 60 teeth, the clock's Beats Per Minute (BPM) would be 60, correct? Would that make your pendulum length 39.2 inches (99.568 cm)?
I am trying to learn how clocks work and this is a great example of a basic clock.
Hi Andrew, thank you for your warm words. Yes, the pendulum needs one second from one side to the other. This makes 60 beats per minute. To achieve this time the pendulum has to be about 1m long. For the exact calibration a threaded rod at the pendulum is very important. The hour wheel rotates twice a day. The gear ratio is only a bit of calculating :-) Many combinations are possible.
I know its a bit late, but, how do you know all these measures?

will a clock like that last for years?
Yes. Wooden clocks are very durable. Some historic wooden clocks are more than 200 years old and they are still running.
How many hours work or rorating
it's a cool clock but I wish it was metal.
So when I put the string in the hole in the winding barrel, it doesn't have to be tied too?
Yes, no knot is necessary
Thank you. The manual is only in english and german. Sorry.
I want to make my own clock ( design ). Can you tell me, how can you make the clock that it is working exactly on the second?
1. is it how many gears you use?
2. is it how big the gears are?
3. is it, the distance between the teeth from the escape wheel? ( ticking sound ).
where should i pay attention on to make the clock exact on the second? plz comment mehh!
4. does it depends on the distance between the threaded rod?
~0uts1drx16~ I will answer all your questions. Please write me a mail for this case.

Please dear Christopher Blasius which is the contact angle of your gear
Hi Therma, Rotara uses epicycloidal gears to minimize the friction. The pressure angle is 20° but this is not so important at this tooth geometry.
holzmechanik Dear Christopher thanks for the answer to my question, but if this is not as important then what are the most important points that one should take into account in the construction of a wooden clock.
I want to buy the planes of your watch but I want to be sure you can handle a challenge like this, or is that wooden clocks have some secret only known designers like you.
*****
The pressure angle of the gear teeth is not unimportant. That’s the reason why I have used the default value!
But much more important is the correct tooth profile. Epicycloidal gears are running with much less friction than gears with an involute tooth profile.
Guten Tag. Planen Sie, neue Produkte in Ihrem Sortiment zu machen? Danke.
hello...I follow all your thoughts wonderful video My greetings to you You creative...A beautiful Music the video You could know the name of the the musical syllables I will be am grateful to you .Thank you.

Can i have your clock?
I want it now give it to me!
I don't sell finished clocks. You can buy the plans at my website holzmechanik.de to build your own one.
No entendi nada :c
I also don't understand spanish ;-)
But you can activate the subtitles for the video.
What is the cost of the plans? I have a Samson 510 CNC machine that can route wood or other materials as well as cut metals with a plasma cutter. I would like to build a large scale model of this clock, perhaps 4 meters tall!
Hi Joe, please go to my website. There you will find this and more useful informations: holzmechanik.de/rotara_eng.html
Basically, it is possible to build the clock in larger scale. But there are two things to note:
The length of the pendulum can not be changed because it sets how fast the clock is running.
In addition, a larger clock needs a heavier drive weight, because all moving parts are also heavier.
