Best car ad to date, I remember watching this on tv as a kid. Such nostalgia
same
No way! It's a close second to Ford's 2002 commercial for the Falcon featuring New Order's "Slow Jam" in terms of great marketing.
I Was Born In 2006. The Evo 6 Was Old Already. But It’s My Goal To Get One!
Someone posted this on TikTok and it bought back so many memories. I was in year 9 in 2001 :O
I loved seeing this ad when I was a kid. Very nostalgic. Reminds me so much of our beloved 1st gen ZE Outlander. This ad definitely was peak Mitsubishi in Australia.
Australia knew how to advertise once, this one was sooo good for mitsi that it was used for the global market...
Miss the 90's to 2010, last great era for ads and automotive industry.
one of the best car commercials! I love to sing along to this while driving! Heavely!
The best commercial, and the best moments/models of MMC.
I still love this ad. Thanks for posting it.
This ad was also shown in New Zealand. Love the black Evo. I'm a Subaru fan and own a version 6 STi but the Evo VI (TME included) would be my pick of all Evo's.
I bought a Magna back in 2001 when this ad came out. Only car ad I properly remember.
A pity Aussie manufacturing closed down. The Magna and 380 were very under appreciated cars. Listening to the words of the song "feel your dreams are dying" and "one dance left" about sumed up the factory's future.
Remember watching this add when I was 12 years old, and seeing the black Evo with the massive wing. I knew there and then I needed to own an Evo when I grew up.
@@darockk Sure did I had an opportunity at the end of last year to purchase a 2001 Lancer EVO 7 GSR that been in storage since 2011 with only 68,000km. It doesn't start but it cranks over so I think it'll need just need a major service and a good inspection to get her up and running again.
I too fell in love with the Evo in this commercial and ended up buying a Evo 6 TME back in 2006
Rest in Peace 'old world' - when we made some great cars, built industry and had hope for our unique country.
when commercials was real ART
Real art? More like rally art
i love the scene where the Evo shows....NICE
I got the 91' colt . 1.3 12v ...that car never failed me .. 300 000 km and it still runs to 180 kmph ,never touched the engine !! Mitsu for life !
Love the Mitsubishi. I own a TJ Magna AWD and love everything about it. Modifying it merely means getting the package to even better things :) Great platform.
beautiful
I'm d et
Mitusbishi used to make some great cars back in the day.
yeah, part of it was filmed on the eastern freeway in melbourne. that distinctive curved noise barrier is near the doncaster road exit.
Cracking car that silver Magna VRX at the end:)
0:30 Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway city-bound just before Doncaster Road
the song is, you get what you give by New Radicals? i now own a silver VRX exactly the same as the one at the end of this clip all because of this ad it amazing?
my favorite add (good old days =D)
the best car ad to date!!!!!! so glad I found this years later :'-)
you look like you could lipsync in a car ad : and do it real well.
The best auto ad ever made. ❤️
I remember when Southland Mitsubishi, here in Adelaide, claimed in the early 1990's, on a radio commercial, that they sold more Mitsubishi's, at their dealership, than the whole United States of America! The dealership is no longer in business, by the way. I've always wondered whether that was claim was true, & how it could be proven.
This ad was made in Australia, every scene is in Aussie. This ad was also shown in NZ, exact same ad.
There was another version of this ad that aired, which featured extensive footage of the Mitsubishi Eclipse (it was planned to be introduced in Australia). I'm just uploading it to my channel now.
one of the best reliable cars
Great commercial, even better song!
Yep defiantly the Aus ad, I am pretty sure the diamante only had the parabolic head lights and the magna has standard ones, the verada later has parabolics though.
Actually it's a mixture - there some overseas footage mixed in with locally filmed footage.
I remember this commercial 😎
And now our great beloved Mitsubishi is merely French Renault’s rebadged, really brings a tear to the eye 😢
It's a shame they closed the factory in Adelaide. Now soon, all of Australia's car factories will be closed. Why can't we make decent cars in this country anymore?
Mitsubishi greatest ad campaign. It took Subaru over a decade to better this ad.
back when Mitsubishi actually made some good cars, the tj magna, np pajero and of course the evo
Yeah, and the Magna is the best part of the ad.
OMG i remember this Commercial
I remember a slightly different version of this commercial. The one where the beginning is a little different.
Very nice!
THANX, my friend!! I realized later after posting previous comment. Such a beautiful EVO (VI), eh?? =D
=)
=D
It's definitely a US ad. Saw the ad on a trip to the US in January 2003, though slightly modified.
this is ma fav ad ov all time. They should reshow it in nz. new radical rox
I've had 3 mitsubishi's and not one has broken down on me. Normaly if you service your car you have no problems but it seems Toyota's, Ford and Holden always break down reguadless if you service them. I know coz those car's give me a job,
Crazy to think Mitsubishi once sold good cars, such a shame
@Designandrew
Thank you heaps!!!
Bring back that beautifiul Times. Please.
I wonder how much bands makes on these types of ads?
I remember this ad here in nz
Those who say it's not an Australian ad obviously didn't notice the Sydney Harbour Bridge at 0:25...
0:25
i remember this ad
mitsubishi evo the best rally car, even Jackie Chan has a great relationship with mitsubishi
@bsteph95 Yes They still sell evos brand new aus this very day.
There is 1 clip of a US car and thats it! and thats not a scene all scenes are in australia and a short clip is from the USA
Also the Australian number plates.
i like this ad..the cute babe with the husky in the backseat rnd the 35 sec...
Can you pl. pl. tell em where this music piece is from?? I'm loving it!
indigo franka it's by the New Radicals and it's called "you get what you give"
that VR-X at the end is a hot lookin car........still!
😈 BRING BACK AUSTRALIAN MADE CARS ASAP 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
Who cares where the ad was made, it's design for Australia.
Actually, "You Get What You Give", not "Only Get What You Give".
what makes the mitsubishi not cool? it's one of the best manufacturers out there
Second only to Ford's 2002 commercial for the Falcon featuring New Order's "Slow Jam" in terms of great marketing.
@LOVETOYOTAS What country are you in.
I Have a Galant EA2A 2001, War Machine!
@malfirst New Radicals, "You get what you give", in the future you might want to google the lyrics like I did and voila!
I wonder where these people are now
What's the name of this song? =)
Is there an American commercial with the same song?
@GForceVRX hell yeah, I loved mine it was Sable (black) and got it new in 2000 it attracted a lot of attention......best car I have owned to date. That model still looks good today, they should have shot that tosser from Chrysler that redesigned the front end in the next model.
Pajero still hasn't changed... 😂
@LOVETOYOTAS Where have you been living. Mitsubishi are the most reliable manufacter. That is why in australia they offer the biggest new car warrenty
wooo... TME evo.
didnt they only bring in 200 of those things?
I want to buy a fucking mitsubishi now.
@Ansett76 Definately man, brand new black VRX ai, that would of been awsome! the TJ series are def the better lookers, ive got a manual TJ Sports also in sable black, as your know they really get up & go!
mitsu rules
1 minute commercials in australia? that sucks. :p
go radicals!!! mitsu!!!
^_^P
It's really a shame that from about this point onward Mitsubishi went through a really bad patch, especially with the crappy Lancer and 380 failure. It was a really good car, as was (and still is) the Magna/Verada.
I remember this commercial from when I was little, im 15 now :)
I'm American, not Australian, but I always wondered, why is Mitsubishi so much more popular there than here? Here in the United States they aren't very popular. Here in the United States, Mitsubishi as well as Mazda and Subaru aren't that popular, but in certain states, the Subaru Forester and Outback are the best selling cars. But, it's Honda, Nissan, and Toyota that are the most popular.
PKMN Fan G'day, Mitsubishi use to manufacture here in OZ, many many moons ago. At that stage 'the 90's' I believe we use to favour local built items along with the Ford Falcon and Holden/GM Commodore, over imported cars. Times have changed in Australia when it comes to popular automotive choice, in 2014 Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3 are Australia's top sellers.
I personally have a MAJOR soft spot for Mitsubishi, owned a few also as a child drove past the Mitsubishi factory everyday when I was taken to school. Might explain the soft spot.
I hope that helps answer your question.
Mitchell Bartlett Sort of like how I have a soft spot for Nissan. I'm not sure if Nissan has factories in Australia but I don't live to far from the one in Canton, MS, USA. I've been in that factory twice and have been past it several times. It's why, even though the best selling car is the Toyota Camry, the Nissan Altima outsells it here in the state of Mississippi.
We don't manufacturer Nissan in Australia, but we do get a lot of there catalogue. Nissan X-Trail and Navara are popular choices when it comes to buying from Nissan itself. We also have Infiniti, and we import Nissan Skylines and Silvas rather regularly.
Mitchell Bartlett
Does the Altima exist there?
It does, in 3 trim levels from a quick look ST, ST-L and Ti. The Ti is the most expensive seems to be about 44k AUD drive away without any optional extras placed on the car.
In the Australian V8 supercars series, Jack Daniels Racing run a V8 Altima, that is RWD.
Aussie ad!
saved this video with savetube.*com :D
Wtf 0:03 he left hand drive...
Mitsubishii has the shittiest ads always lol
@LOVETOYOTAS thats why your wrong kid, i once own an 86 galant, and its like shit! dont get me wrong its a comfortable car, and quite fast for a 1.8 litre engine, but the parts r like shit they died prematurely, and u really have to choose the right oil & radiator coolant,it overheats too much, but my 2001 galant never had any major problems, never overheated, great performance too..unlike honda screaming engine lol
@MrDaveLogan
gg
Mitsubishi now making goofy cars and goofy ads.
@kongbingyuan931202 Says the Asian
Used to love that ad but all those cars look shite now.
Except for the evo of course.
j
@MrDaveLogan well my friend was driving from Taupo to Auckland in his car and saw i guy on the side of the road having problems with his brand new Mitsubishi Lancer. So my friend stoped to help him and it turned out the Lancer had dumped all its oil on the road and stuffed its engine and when he had heard back from the guy a few months later the guy has had more probs with the Lancer and had got rid of it.
Wow wiki young person, I'm 47 and really do remember "footballs, meatpies, Kangroos and Holden cars" Looking back whilst these cars were rugged, they were awful in the sense of safety and fuel economy. I know because as a young fella my first car was a second hand LX Torona. I could write/crap on for ever about this, but to finish who rembers GMH remarkable marketing tool of RTS?
Taekwondo
All those mitis are in the rubbish long ago.. backpackers got them and left them on side of road
keith holden
The Magna didn't fail, Mitsubishi Australia was forced by it's corporate arm to replace it with the 380.
I was like, "Man, there goes the only AWD model in it's class."
Those poor suckers who bought one of these Magnas. Worth about $10 now.
Mitsubishi have allways made a lot of very nicely styled cars, they still do what lets Mitsubishi down is the fact alot of their cars are so unreliable and this is why Mitsubishi is struggling to sell cars now days. Mitsubishi has nearly gone broke several times.
I miss this ad so much, Nowadays its all "LOVE that Car" which IS A CRAP slogan!?!? ads these days are just pure bullshit it seem's Australia doesn't know how too make a commercial now it seem's to know how to make a Broadway mini show for fucking Insurance for cars its SO ANNOYING, PLZZ GET IT OFF MY TV!?
@hexagonview Mitsubishi have been very unreliable in the past, I have seen it with my own eyes and as a result of this they are a struggling car company. This is why they have introduced the longest warranty to try and encourage sales. I have admited i don't know what the brand new models are like but the old ones have been very unreliable.
@ronmrs I am not trying to anoy anyone just stating fact. Mitsubishi made reliable cars before the mid 80's but now they are not. I have seen and heard alot of prove of this. Mitsubishi is a strugling car company these days because they have a name to be unrelabile cars which they are. However i not saying they don't make nicely styled cars cause they do.
I've been slightly turned off by Mitsubishi thanx to that song.
