What type are you rocking in GLC?
As of now water, but i would like to make many different decks with various archetypes and strategies. Metal is extremely good at damage reduction. Grass too strong with stage 2s both cuz forest of giant plants and meganium. I do think every element has some untapped potential strategies from older cards.
Lightning is busted
Fighting type mill. Theres a lot of gold in there
All of em
Water
I hope this format takes off to the point where the guys running league challenges and such could run an event with thia
Agree!!
I'm starting to introduce this format to my league and I'm using this video as a way to understand what cards to use in general!
You know. I'm gonna have my first GLC tournament in a week. And this video is a gold, i tried to find for so long.
Thank you so much for making this video. I had all my cards stolen years ago, so I went on hiatus from being so heartbroken. Got back into it last year with Chilling Reign and haven't looked back, so this provided exactly the info I needed for all the missed years. Glad to be back and to see all the amazing content people such as yourself are providing for this community.
Such a brilliant video. I've struggled a little with the huge number of supporters and items available. This has really helped.
You're welcome!!
Ahh thank you for this! My grass deck has been terrible and I've been dying to find a pattern to retool it with
Glad it can help!!
I love water. I'm thinking about Crasher Wake, and I like Nessa & Superior Energy Retrieval.
water hyrdro pump is my jam!
Oh man this looks like a fun format
Great video I've been looking for a primer like this
I basically agree on everything, but I'm surprised that Cynthia is not among the "super staples". I lost several games because I started with Colress as only supporter in hand and no benched pokémon on both sides of the field. Cynthia is so much better than Colress because it's never situational.
Thanks!!
No prob!!
Only one I disagree with is bird keeper. I feel like it's a must in every deck. Such an incredible card imo
Love your vids man! Keep up the great work. Time zones make it hard for me to jump on your stream but I will get on one day!
Thanks for the kind words Friend!!
Thanks for the kind words Friend!!
Thanks for this reference!
I do feel like town map should be a auto include.. Staple to every deck. Because only if that one card you need to help complete your setup combo or swing the game in your favor.. But on the flip side if your deck needs that one card to win, if the deck can't win without that card.. Then that's bad. But some decks are very strong against a lot with that one card. So really its a 50/50 card
I was so interested when I first heard of this format, but it soured on me so quickly. This seemed like the best way to play casually with my friends, but a ton of my favorite Pokemon are kneecappd by the rules. You can't play any Vikavolt in GLC because Grubbins are all Grass and all Vikavolts are Electric. The singleton nature seems handled in a way to make Stage 2 Pokemon really hard to get to, which spits in the face of not allowing rule box Pokemon because you're just trading them for big basics now instead. I think the format should allow 4-of Pokemon but only 1-of each printing. I'm just trying to get into a more casual PTCG format to play with my gf and this sounded like the one but now I'm very hesitant.
Man I so desperately want to run a fighting type deck for GLC, but hearing that a couple of the better types running about are grass and water kinda puts me off :S
The thing about GLC is that just about every type is playable! Except fairy :)
@@FlexDaddyRighteous Nice! :D Garchomp might be coming out to play...
Question: what if you have an evosoda in hand and all your Pokemon are fully evolved but some can evolve into a break. Can you play the evosoda (or attack or other card that runs into the same problem) because it's public knowledge that nothing on your board (in this format) can evolve.
Yes, I actually ran into this question over the weekend... The game knows what Pokemon can evolve as well as what cards are in the game. So if I play a Charmander down, I could evosoda it on the following turn. If I played carbink down, I could also evolve that into the break on the following turn despite carbink being a "fully evolved" Pokemon. Long story short...the game knows all, so even if there's a card that can evolve from that Pokemon in any capacity ( break, lvl X, etc) you can play evosoda even if it's not in your deck!
Heya, a dumb question about the GLC - I know this is going to sound really dumb but do you know any tricks or strategies that would allow both Gallade and Gardevoir to be on the field at the same time in a Psychic deck? I had an old TCG Deck that I loved, which was a Gardevoir/Gallade combo deck. Gardevoir (Next Destinies 57) had a Pokemon Ability, which made all Psychic Energy attached to Psychic Pokemon count as 2 Psychic Energy, and Gallade (Plasma Storm 61) had an attack that cost 2 Energy and dealt 20 damage times the amount of Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. I loved this combo in my previous deck, and I'd love a way to play this combo again if I was ever given the chance to. Any ideas?
(Edit) I know I'm asking for a lot... it's a weird request and I was just hoping it could work due to nestalgia.
I can only think of dream ball, maybe in combination with peonia.
This way you can either:
-regular evolve either gallade or gardevoir and dream ball the other card.
-rare candy into gardevoir of gallade and use the kirlia with dream ball
If they're the same type, the best (only?) Way would be dream ball shenanigans. Try to put the dream ball into your prizes and then draw dream ball to grab the poke out of your deck!
Exp share is NOT a better card than wishful baton. You get to transfer 3 energy from the baton, exp share only 1. And furthermore is energy pouch. Where u can get even more than 3 energy back to hand to then reattach. This is good for blast/frosmoth/cherrim/hydreigon/emboar/magnezone(s)...(as long as they don't marnie or N or stamp or ace trainer)
I can't wait to play with banned cards.. Right?
Forest of giant plants?
All of them OK to play?
One card I think is overlooked is max elixir
Do a video on special energy like this one.. Though that might be more niche .
When it comes out, raihan will be amazing for this format.. If you can find it that is
Ace trainer..I agree I want be ahead..but if the deck works from behind.then ace trainer js worth it
Oh I have some sick sick sick tricky deckists and strategies in expanded with ace trainer and hand discards... it's beautiful!!!
A good i ntro would be
"welcome to Pokémon commander edition"
"Welcome to Pokémon's version of mtgs commander "
Or maybe Magic players should say welcome to Magic's edition of GLC? 👀👀
I feel like trump card should be in every deck unless the deck wants to have stuff stay in the discard pile.
It's just hard because most decks don't have the draw engine necessary to get through their deck after a trump card.
I would almost play bird keeper and Tate and Liza. Together..
Yes,they are both quite good. I think the slight edge goes to Tate and Liza because it's a better early supporter.
Yep gladion for decks that will never take prizes..
