The complete album is a personal retrospective including Anoushka's favourite tracks with hits from former success albums like Land of Gold, Traces of You, Rise,
among others, and presenting them in a
new tailor-made selection curated by
Anoushka Shankar herself.

Sitar is a really difficult instrument to play and her proficiency in it is awe-inspiring. Not easy being the daughter of a legend and being good enough to be considered his successor.

Holy sheep i came here by accident but now i am absolutely in love her and her music!! Congratulations for keeping Hindu music alive in an era where classical music worldwide is being forgotten. ❤️
Music knows no religion, Hindu Muslim or Christian. I hope you'll understand. May I suggest Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, since you liked this so much. :) Stay safe!
@@suparna7037 she was referring to hindu culture not religion bro. Peace.
@@shivanksingh6468 no beef intended. Indian classical music is not confined to just 'Hindu culture' either. Each raga has contribution from every religion. Here, just the maestro is Hindu, not the culture. I'm sorry if my comment seemed aggressive to you, not at all my intention :) Have a nice day.
@@suparna7037 why do you guys want to mix in with us. Our music schools are from thousands of years. Invaders came some hundreds of years back. They mixed in but that doesn't mean it isn't Hindu music. Lasya is purely Hindu concept. Yoga is purely Hindu. Many things that are said to be Indian are originally Hindu.
@ Manny Bhardwaj well said. It is a Hindu concept, culture and music. Why should we not mention it.
You need more than two ears to hear this tonic, you are ambassadors of Indian culture ♥️

Played the Sitar for 50 years, ever since Anoushka's father taught in Los Angeles. Ravi's first American album got me hooked... But, have to admit Ravi with Yehudi Menuhin was as far out as I ever got. So, everything Anoushka is new and fresh.
The term Lasya, in the context of Hindu mythology, describes the dance performed by Goddess Parvati as it expresses happiness and is filled with grace and beauty. She is believed to have danced the Lasya in response to the male energy of the cosmic dance of Tandava performed by Lord Shiva. In a literal sense, Lasya means beauty, happiness and grace. Rajiv Ramaswamy well, music is divine irrespective of its religious undertones. In fact, it discolours its divinity, according to me.

I have listened to this at least 3 times a day for the last 2 weeks. I had never heard of Anoushka Shankar before this or listened to Indian Classical music but is the most beautiful music I have ever heard. I have listened to just Techno music most of my life so this is a big change!

Bravo, nice shift!
Listen to Kaushiki Chakraborty and the likes,, Darbar has some really good snippets of Indian classical music

Goddess Saraswati herself has blessed Anoushkas hands 🙏🏼🙏🏼 how else can you explain this ethereal sound ☺️☺️ thank you for this masterpiece
Our first Ravi Shankar concert : my woman and I were whispering about whether or not to sit in our designated seats --third row from the stage; I wanted to sit in the balcony because of better acoustics Ravi wouldn't begin until we sat down; his comment :" the spirits are restless-" we got his point ; concert was great.
She has the greatest blessings from Maa Saraswati

She is effortless in her performance...you can see no trace of strife on her face. She has definitly practiced it so much that this instrument has become part of her being. And hats off to pandit g for imparting this gift to his daughter.
And let me tell you sitar is very hard to play,in my school we have been taught about both classical and western music and im quite good at guitar and tabla
I once tried sitar and when i tried,i found my self paralysed as there are almost 5 places where you have to focus for a very simple raag
Im practicing sitar for over about 6 years ,but i cant even think of playing like this 🥲

This is amazing music. Credit to the other musicians too, not just Anoushka! They were all incredible. But wow her smile at the end says it all, that was beautiful.
I am listening Anushka Shankar since 1999, Still now every morning I start my day, Listening sitar. It doesn't matter I am happy or sad. I just want to hold the time..
I had watched this video more than a thousand times since the first I watched this. Sometimes I think if the goddess Saraswati would be in real, She must be looking like the same. I had shown this video to so many people who I found are fond of Indian classical and the best experience was when I had shown this to the Father-in-Law of my sister who lives in Benaras. He really enjoyed that as he had already seen Pt.Ravi Sankar many times live performances. I wish one day I can see her live performance. Thanks, #Anouska for sharing this masterpiece with us.
My soul is happy with this music.
Thanks with all my heart.

Anoushka Shankar is the real Goddess of sitar... Her soulful musical vibes are passing through my whole body.... Love and respect from kashmir 😍🥰😘
Just close the eyes... You will feel yourself you are in another zone... This is absolute meditation for me.
I can't even express in words what this piece does .. it brings so many emotions in me.. so beautiful! I just love it so much. It is like my own self in different moods... Makes me ecstatic. Feminity is so fluid .. so much grace.. I make people around me listen to this if I know they have even a slightly good taste. For me music is never a type.. just a mood. This is the best one though☺️
Everything about her is so beautiful, down to her fingers and how she plays the sitar. So talented I've fallen in love with her and the instrument alike.

Each time I listen to Anoushka .. I get humbled down to tears .. I don't know why. I have listened her live too.. With sitar in her hands she open a heavenly portal for you. She looks like a goddess Saraswati herself. Thanks Anoushka for all your music. It is out of this world.
it's so wonderful how, when you look at Anoushka's face, you can see some of her father's features. He lives on through her.
She has that electric presence which invigorates your soul transcending space and time! ❤

This is an ethereal composition ! The perfect blend of instruments. While Anoushka Shankar is absolutely enthralling, I cannot appreciate Manu Delago’s expertise on the hang drums enough. So also for Pirasahnna Thevaraja on percussion and vocals. I have always found this track evocative and deeply moving, something that compels me to look inwards. Music is probably the most healing of all art forms.

Outstanding! Was blessed to have grown up on Ravi's music among the many other geniuses in history.
Lasya - The calm dance symbolizing feminine energy. It is performed by both Parvati Mata and Shiv Ji (to calm the destructive Tandav dance of Kali Mata). Shows that there's both masculine and feminine energies is us all; there's balance in us all.
I learned about both these dances recently and immediately came back to this masterpiece because I remembered 'Lasya' being the name of Anoushka's lovely instrumental piece. Thank you so much 💚
