  • 2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports Hybrid Drive Test Review.
    All-new Toyota Corolla hybrid
Stylish, efficient and a joy to drive, the new Corolla is an icon for the modern age. Whatever your lifestyle and whichever body type you choose, you'll benefit from self-charging hybrid powertrains. This is the first time Toyota has offered a choice of two Hybrid engines - a 1.8 litre Hybrid and a 2.0 litre Hybrid Dynamic Force engine - for the same model. With all the advantages of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, Corolla takes you on a spirited drive.
Enjoy the car that makes driving fun. Feel the difference as soon as you get behind the wheel, with its stylish interior, excellent handling and stability making the drive even more rewarding.
Corolla is built on Toyota’s advanced new TNGA engineering platform, delivering a truly satisfying drive. A more rigid body and low centre of gravity come together to reduce body roll when cornering, while the double wishbone suspension absorbs shocks more effectively, for a smoother ride.
The first thing you notice about the new Corolla is its bold and dynamic exterior. An attractive low bonnet gives it a sleek, dynamic profile, which is enhanced by sporty 18" alloy wheels.
Our designers have chosen a combination of high quality materials that look stunning together - and also provide a pleasing variety of textures. An all-black look gives the interior a sporty feel, or you can choose a cool grey that underlines the spacious and uncluttered design. Stylish sport seats complete the look perfectly.
Toyota Hybrids are a pleasure to drive. Spirited and responsive in the city, the 1.8 litre Hybrid engine provides a relaxed drive. The new 2.0 litre Hybrid Dynamic Force engine delivers even more power without compromising on the smooth drive. Whichever you choose, both save fuel and reduce emissions, falling to zero when you drive on electric power alone.
The cabin of the new Corolla has been designed around your comfort. Sport seats wrap around you to hold you firmly in place, keeping you comfortable on long journeys. The steering position has been designed to feel as natural as possible, helping to avoid fatigue. Steering-wheel mounted switches for driving, infotainment and audio controls let you keep your hands in one place, while a steering wheel heater keeps them warm on cold days.
The new Corolla Touring Sports gives you the space you need, where you need it. It makes the rear passengers just as comfortable as the people in the front. Its generous boot space will fit everything in thanks to an adjustable deck board, handy side pockets and easily folded rear seats. When you need to open the boot with your hands full, just slide your foot under the rear bumper, with the hands-free kick sensor the boot door opens automatically.
The Corolla Touring Sports is intended to make up for the fact that the hatchback Corolla doesn't boast class-leading interior or boot space; it has both greater legroom in the back and a larger luggage compartment than its sister model.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across every Corolla, because your safety is essential. This unique safety system includes an array of updated safety features that makes driving easier, while keeping you and your passengers even safer.
As with the hatchback, low running costs will be central to the Corolla Touring Sports' appeal: CO2 emissions start as low as 76g/km and fuel economy tops out at 66mpg in the most efficient specification. From behind the wheel, it feels very similar to the Corolla hatchback - which is to say it's much more satisfying to drive than the Auris, but still some way off class leaders for handling like the Ford Focus and SEAT Leon.
Seats up (and with the 1.8-litre hybrid engine), the Corolla Touring Sports' all-important boot capacity is 598 litres. That's reduced slightly to 581 litres if you go for the 2.0-litre, but still about 25 litres off what the current Volkswagen Golf Estate can carry.
Standard equipment is decent, so you shouldn't really need to move up more than the second-tier Icon Tech specification to get the kit you need - although the 2.0-litre hybrid engine is only available in the more lavish and expensive Design and Excel specifications. Pleasingly, Toyota's Safety Sense package is standard right across the range.
The Touring Sports looks great from the outside, but it's not quite as revolutionary inside. Everything is cleanly designed and feels sturdy, but there's still a familiar sense of Toyota functionality rather than true luxury for occupants.
There hasn't been a Toyota Corolla estate on sale in the UK for many years, but the familiar name is back on the replacement for the Toyota Auris Touring Sports. The focus is hybrid this time around: a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is available on lower trim levels, but the majority of Corolla Touring Sports sold in the UK are expected to be 1.8-litre hybrids.

I also like this car a lot. In fact so much that I’ve ordered a 2.0 TS. What makes the car so interesting to me is the full-hybrid option and the practicality of the wagon. I didn‘t like the look of the auris and was more appealed to this design. What I don‘t like is the tablet on the dash.
The CVT has no gears and revvs up the rpm to stay there until the throttle is released. You should look up the tech it‘s really interesting.

Yes you are totally right. I will check it out, I guess Toyota has a great tech hybrid. They work years on it.

This Toyota has a lot of shortcomings, if you take into account its cost, then I counted a lot of improvements. 1. There is no electrical adjustment of the chair, 2. The memory of the chair is not to be installed every time. 3. There is no lamp on the instrument panel indicating that the trunk is open. 4. There is no noise insulation and anti-vibration under the hood of the car. 5. No USB ports for rear passengers. And other little things.

I have driven the 2.0 litre TS in Excel trim. Was sold just driving out of the dealer’s car park. Easy and comfortable and faster than the 1.8 litre. Poor opening of the rear passenger doors and narrow opening. Ordered mine with saver spare wheel, a no cost option together with front and rear mud flaps and a rubber mat for the luggage area. The drive isn’t as I remember the CVT gearbox in the Honda Jazz, being an entirely different gearbox, no belts and pulleys in this one.

    HI,
it´s not possible that there are any "gear changes", because the car has only one gear.
You sould not use "really" so often. ;)
    And it´s not a "Hyundai Corolla"! 22:33

I did a test drive when the car first released in Romania, but unfortunately in the 15 min test it did not convinced me, especially coming from a civic sedan 1.5 cvt test(accelerations under 70 km/h are a joy in the corolla, no effort, but after 80-90 km/h, it is quite slow, here is where the civic takes of). Now I fell a bit sorry not buying the corolla, it would have been a better choice for every day use, and it has less running costs. I bought the civic 1.5 cvt, for 800 euros less than the corolla 1.8 hybrid estate(the civic and the corolla had the same options more or less, but the civic has an oil life sensor and it requires oil changes under 10 k km, even at 6-7 k km , also the fuel consumption in the city is about 9-10 l in heavy traffic, and 5.2-6 extra urban). The civic is very nice looking, and more sporty, and it has android auto and apple car play, but the suspension is much less forgiving on the Romanian roads. Having in mind that most of the trips are in the city the hybrid would have been at home. My next car in about 5-7 years will be a hybrid or a plug in hybrid. Did you drove the civic? How do you compare?
For my decision the most factors that stole my decision where in the first place the look, then android auto and the power/accelerations during overtakes.
The corolla estate has better practicality, auto trunk, heated steering, spare wheel, led lights, better fuel consumption and lower running costs/mantainance

Salut Dan!

      @SDADanCars  Před 3 lety +1

Daca Toyota ar imbunatati multimedia si bordul as fi super.
