    Thank you so much for your clear explanation. Most online sources give the impression that the YRR machine is "plug & play" which it most definitely is not. I was getting a whole lot of weird error messages, the "test" function was working but not framing or burning; and your simple guide through the settings menu solved the issues.

    Thanks for this guide to setup the Aufero rotary to my Aufero LU2-4-LF, I know that this is an old tutorial but the info was spot on. I plugged the rotary into the y1 plug and figured out that my y2 connection had to be unplugged also in order for the rotary to work properly. I just wanted to thank you.

    great video for rotary. It worked great for me the first time I tried it. Went back to standard with out issues. Today I thought I would get a little creative with a tapered bottom wine bottle. So I made my funky set up. I can provide pics if you want them. But I had issues with the unit itself. I changed my settings to disable homing at start up, then turned off the power and attached the rotary cable. Next I powered up the laser. Then I loaded the rotary file I saved from my first go at the rotary set up that i did via your video. Then I selected write into the machine settings and created my burn file graphics. Then it went crazy. I kept getting the Gcode error while trying to home or jog. I had home turned off. Anyway, I had to go back to the standard settings which was a little difficult because of the gcode error. after research on inet, i found a comment about an error in the $22 code. fixed that and i was back to good to go on the standard settings. Then I thought I would try one last time. Instead of using my saved rotary machine settings I started from scratch with your video. It worked great. I know this is a long comment but my question is, d0 you have issues when you go back and forth between the two machine setting files?

      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  Pƙed 2 lety

      Just testing the rotary as per your video. I've measure the rolls, and I had 2 different measures, so i set it somewhere in between the two, then I measure the object was 60mm, which gave me the circumference of 188.496mm, but how did you get the "mm per rotation" figure? Is that supposed to be automatically calculated by Lightburn? Mine was over 300 mm...
      I tried the framing and it looks like is going around about 3 times, same with the burning... So I'm not sure if my vertical lines are apart or overlapping, since is going around and over the circumference more then once...

The video I watched was called "Ortur Laser YRR Rotary Setup The Only COMPLETE guide!" you showed saving the setting to make it quicker when you switched back and forth from rotary to flat laser work. Unless I missed it, it did not show where or how you use those saved settings to switch back and forth.

For some reason when I frame the test line the tumbler only rotates about 90 degrees (versus 360 that it should) and then returns. and 2. when I run the job the burn image is very compressed horizontally as though the width is 4x narrower than it should be (but the height looks accurate). Any pointers/suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help! Clay

    This went really well. Right up to the time I set the distance from the laser to the rollers to burn a sample.
    Nothing happened and for the past 90 minutes I’ve tried and watched the red “On” light blink while the Console shows me Error 9
    G-code locked out during alarm or jog state.
    I’ve shut down, rebooted, reset and unplugged so many times I’m no longer sure what I’ve done wrong and tried to load the saved default settings (they are greyed out and won’t highlight). I’m gonna walk away now. I can’t think any more.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  Pƙed 2 lety

      Error 9 is a shock & movement alarm. On the Console tab, type: $RST=* and press enter. Then type type: $33=1000 and press enter. Now it won't alarm.

    Hey Rich. I'm having a lot of issues with "line drag" for lack of the correct term. It looks like a couple of passes are being dragged down a fraction of an inch out of the image area. so my finished product is nicely engraved except for 2 or 3 passes (vertical) screws up the image. Anything you can suggest would be a huge help. Cheers. Keep up the good work. (I apologize if you've touched on this in a previous video, I couldn't find anything applicable).

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy

      Depends on which rotary Cameron. I believe Atomstack makes one just for pens. Many of the diode rollers can be arranged to do pens as well by moving the rollers. The one in this video, the Ortur, can do pens; I know, I've done pens on it.

    Rich...I have a xTool D1 that I have been trying to set to engrave tumblers for my wife's annual Sisters weekend. I am under the gun.. By the way I am a extreme newby. I assume the setup is similar. I have watched every video I can and no-one using this attachment really explains how to set it up for lightburn. I am using the xTool RA2 Pro with just the rollers and no chuck. They, xTool, initially sets the mm per rotation at 370mm which seems rather large. I am not sure what this means...rotation per mm of what...the item being etched? Is that set only once or for each item being etched. Lightburns manual doesn't address this and their CZcams video is very basic and leaves a lot out. I thank-you for your fine videos....complete videos..that explain the topic. I am going to use your calibration method this AM for the tumblers I am going to engrave.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  Pƙed 2 lety

      Pretty sure the x-Tool mm/rot are right. That has to do with the stepper motor. I haven't used their rotary so I wouldn't know, but the parameters are similar. If you use the roller, check roller for the type, Z for the axis, 32mm/rotation and 17mm for the roller diameter and mirror output selected. For the chuck, it's type Z for the axis, and 128 mm/rotation with the same settings.

    I have an Atezr p10 and a RA2pro rotary. When I try to put a design on a pencil I get either a straight line or something wrapped around the pencil. When I try to shorten it, it becomes a line. When I try to make it larger it wraps around the pencil even though it falls within the parameter of the test.
