- Juan Pablo Montoya is never one to mince his words, so it was no surprise when he came into our Miami offices to share his thoughts on the 2022 F1 season that he'd give his honest (but also expert) opinion! JPM gives his hot takes on Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, Sergio Perez, Michael Andretti's potential future in the sport and even potential American drivers.

Man I always loved Montoya. Montoya + Raikkonen at McLaren, one of my all time favourite driver combinations
Two guys who gave zero s**ts about the F1 establishment and the nonsense outside of the car. Gold!
Montoya and R. Schumacher at Williams was even better.
Wish he stayed in F1. World Champ for sure.
😂😂😂he was never even close only skill he had was complaining like a girl when shumi whooped his sorry a$$
Don’t be silly
I agree! Gotta give him props though for walking away from the F1 BS and going off to Nascar when it stopped being fun. He was often the only guy willing and able to give Schumacher a run for his money! Wish he had gone back to Indyar instead but the series was in a bit if turmoil at the time and probably wouldn't have been much fun either!
He should have taken Alonso's spot at Renault for '07.
Flavio could've made JPM to fall in love with F1 again and Renault could've kept the momentum with a clear leader in the driver dept.
@@johnniecinco6698 he left because his wife wears the pants
Montoya is a legend!
Yup pity his cars were so unreliable
My fav 👍🏻😎
Yeah… no one will ever forget when he crashed into the track dryer under safety car. Total legend…
Oh deer
@@NicotineRosberg "No a deer! A deer is on the circuit"
Most brave driver I have ever seen
Every time I watch interviews with JPM on racing, he's really is spot on about the details and does'nt just say typical boring statements...
I absolutely agree.
28.3. maybe half is true 😂
Nowadays that is a rare feat.
Yeah I have to admit I didn’t expect JPM being that analytic and understanding. That was spot on indeed even listening to it after two races.
Really hope that he is passing all this knowledge to his son that's in F3
I love a guy, who will actually give you an honest opinion and doesn't couch every freaking statement with wimpy "but . . . . "
JPM was pretty damn spot on. I'd say he was about 95% right about all of this. The only hiccup? The speed of the McLaren... Other than that, I think his assessment of the teams was correct, I think his description of the car and its grip levels is spot on (talking about grip in high speed corners, but a handful at low speed) He's got the experience in F1 and IndyCar to look at the on track product and see what's really going on in fine detail and I've seen all of these points he made over the first two race weekends... Mid field shuffle for sure with Haas scoring points in both races and Ferrari/ Red Bull fighting for the win both weekends so far... It's gonna be a GREAT 2022 season with this new 'formula' and as long as the FIA doesn't play games this time around, It will be one to remember for a long time...
The important thing Montoya didn't know was how weak the Mercedes engine is. That's not something most people expected.
@@SylviusTheMad It wasn't the engine, it was the side pod & floor. Porpoising...
What a legend! I still recall, standing trackside on a sunny Saturday afternoon, watching IndyLights quali at Long Beach Grand Prix in the 90s…this young driver rolled up in a bmx bike to check out the session…a double take, I looked and realized it was JPM. I greeted him in Spanish and congratulated him on his Indycar quali result from earlier in the day. Very nice guy on a personal level. Next day, won Long Beach, Indy 500 later that year and the rest is history! 👍😎
I had a chance to meet him at Laguna in 1999 when he began his CART racing career. (Dam I'm old) super humbled guy then and today.
You are lucky dudes. JPM is a legend.
Love JPM, he was a terrific driver, and he seems like such a nice, positive guy.
Good driver. Absolute prick though if you remember the 90s and early 00s
@@mattjc1021 Que?
I was a massive Williams fan back then, I don't remember him being a prick. Which isn't to say he wasn't, but I don't remember anything untoward? Feel free to remind me.
I so wanted him to become F1 champion back in'em days. One of the best.
Such a breath of fresh air to watch an interview with an honest driver who doesn't begin most of his sentences with the word obviously. I wish JPM would have a podcast, even if he only had time for a monthly, it would be great.
this guy was the best over taker off all times in F1 and Indy
Montoya should have been a F1 champion, big fan here, watch out for his son in the future the kid is fast.
I know JPM has always done his own thing, so to speak, and couldn't get along with Ron Dennis, but why he walked away from F1 and didn't go to another team I will never understand.
He really livened up a few boring years of F1 during his stint. Absolutely brilliant.
Great to hear something from Juan Pablo, great driver and personality!
Watch JPM in the 2022 Indy 500 this year! He’ll be driving for AMSP.
Should have won F1 title in 2003. Great driver, interesting guy.
Man, looking back at this he was pretty spot on with his predictions based of the pre-season testing
This guy was great at what ever he drove and the same thing when you ask him to explain this new car great to hear his explanation
JPM the great. A true legend who left too early . He was just phenomenal.
Thanks for doing this with Juan Pablo! I’ve loved him, his style, skill, guts, and aggression, always! Got to see him march through an Indycar field at Burkes Lakefront Airport, in the early 90s, in person. Amazing guy! 🔥🔥🤷♂️
Verstappen vs JPM match up would be epic. Theres not enough race track for them both. lol
I really want to see a demo race from this hugely talented man... Would love to see it.. really.. Montoya pls give us a demo... Just 1 lap..
Ask and you shall receive

Montoya driving the Ferrari F2008 at Mugello
Whata great guy, no BS, just his thoughts. Tunrs out they are all correct! Balls of steel back in the V10 days. Used to love watching indy in 90s with JPM.
Just imagine he joined Redbull 2007, then Mercedes 2014. Could have been looking at greatest driver in F1 history.
😂😂😂 i guess you are american. He could not beat shumi. And 2007 Ferrari won 2008 McLaren won. So what would it help him joining Redbull in 2007 and in 2014 he was to old for f1. You don't know what you are blabbering about.
@@dalic24 In 2015 Montoya was winning the 500 miles at the age of 40. Whoever wrote must know something about F1, since Red Bull wanted Montoya when he retired in 2006. Montoya didn't want to come back. Montoya could never be champion over Schumi, since the German had the best Ferrari in history and was unbeatable being on almost all the podiums, which Montoya could not do so he would get all the poles. with everything and that he was the best driver with the worst car that was not Mclaren or Ferrari and he made legendary overtaking of Schumi... And if Schumi was the best, where was Schumi in 2010 when he didn't have the Ferrari??? I guess you're not American and you're not an F1 fan either...
@@dalic24 Well we don't have to guess when it comes to the level of intelligence and experience you lack. Thank you for playing young chap, better luck time.
A J Foyt descibed Montoya eith these words . " say what you want about Montoya , but that boy can Drive"
Montoya !!! I loved watching him race. Whether F1,Indy Stock cars or even Rolex at Daytona. Always competitive.
Motorsports -- thank you very much. Great views from JPM!!! Hats off to his answers.
One of the most good drivers F1 EVER!
JPM understands both racers and racing. No bull$h*t, just a rich understanding of the sport and a no nonsense approach to expressing himself.
I don’t believe his brilliance receives appropriate appreciation, but I doubt he cares.
JPM’s legacy is bound to grow once people truly recognize his brilliance.
Always liked JPM, he's straightt to the point at everything he does......his driving, insight and opinions.
Juan Pablo is one of my favorite drivers
Love JPM, great assessment, very astute, wished he’d stayed in F1 longer.
That was great! Thanks for that.
This guy always bring colors on F1. His style makes me root for him for world champion.
JP is the man! Very accurate predictions on f1 so far!
Remember watching jpm in f1, that guy had some balls and great races, always a cool guy to watch
GREAT INTERVIEW!
JPM is probably the most acurate and fun to ser former F1 driver this shows he does really knows what he is talking about... wish the best to his son... to sea Verstappen vs Shumi vs a Montoya on F1 again would be amazing
As I'm loath to make comparisons, I will just say there is no one like JP in F1 now. Loved watching him give it the big shoe.
Jpm could drive anything
Great interview
More of this please. Should be an hour+ interview :)
Juan is serious when he says Bahrain in the day its like a million degrees. Juan had to suffer through the 2005 Bahrain GP which is still the hottest GP ever recorded. Air temp was nearly 50°C
spot on JPM, i remember he came to F1 and had to drive these crazy Groove tires, which was a joke!
Probably the best interview with a champion I can remember ever seeing. No one paying him to polish their turd just honest ERY INFORMED opinions from a person who knows. No political masculine bovine feces!
Montoya and his bmw amazing combo when he was on it!
Montoya is the best driver in recent times that never won a title
As a Colombian this is my guy!!!! Quevo Pues
WOW his English has become excellent...I guess all these years living/racing in the US.....Kimi should go race Indy for a couple of years..!!
It would be ‘After many years with Kimi… the team learned to keep quite, as they knew that Kimi knew what he was doing’ ! 🙈
Respect man. This guy raced against the likes of Schumacher and Hakinnen.
best opinions from a very good driver i like it.
Cool guy, our kids raced together. Did someone just wake him up for this interview?
The cars work wonderful after F1 retooled them for 22 and I think Jaun was a big part great job....the cars are such a joy to watch race an they brought ...who can figure it out mystery back to F1 too...so good job on the 22s cars redesign
I love this man.
I agree they do look cool and better then the last years
🇯🇲🤔Montoya a real "G" analysis is on point.....
Respect Pablo bless up to you n your family...
Absolute legend
Bro. calling the oscillations “heaving” is so hilarious.
Wise man . . .
Montoya was such an entertaining and skilled F1 driver- ferociously fast and always, always went for the move. Like Max, he took no prisoners!
I will watch every interview with JPM.
He was the Max Verstappen version nowadays !!!
I love this guy!
I agree if anyone can make a team work in F1 it would be Andretti they have a big operation just in the indycar series....I remember Mike didn't have much fun when he was hear in F1 1990....I know I'm Italian American too an my heart is still in Road racing an F1 too...so it's exciting to here...actually was stunned by the news....an then excited...the biggest thing with America is the jobs are regulated now so as long as the teams come over to Europe an employee European people in motorpsort they should have a success....we have the same guidelines here this person is here because of their talent the is not found blah blah...just regulations that's all same here in the USA
uno de los mejores pilotos de f1
Give this man a ride one more time...he was relentless on the track.
One of my favs😁
Montoya down to earth guy
JPM=Legend
Yes, I know what you mean.
So far everything he said come to be exactly that !!! Waooh!
He still looks good 👍 ageing well
Great 👍
JPM leyend!!!
IDOL!
Montoya is the man
Champion!
I love how he’s wearing a $5 plain white shirt and his hair isn’t combed. Most racecar drivers come off as rich, unrelatable jerks but here Montoya is just another regular F1 fan
When he said prototype I'm pretty sure he meant Lemans prototype cars, not the prototype f1 car.
Glad to see that Juan did not hold back and really lets rip about F1....Wow!!!
For anybody who doesn't think JPM was a great F1 driver, you might remember that he held the lap record at Monza for 14years.
JPM is one of the best pilot who drove in F1
damn the mclaren thing aged well
George is awsum....an yes I agree...coming up they have less car less car an then they get to f1 an the cars have all of the potential an he's still new so he doesn't have a lot of car performance to forget...
I wish that montoya stay in formula 1 longer he was really good 2001 -2005 willams fihgt against ferrari
the mclaren looks really strong x)
All! Hail. Pablo Montoya!
I would like to see JP racing for mercedes next to Hamilton
Montoya is great, you know what I mean?
I think the fight between Russel and Hamilton is going to be 🔥
For fifth place?
Jos: we never forget Brazil 2001 😡
czcams.com/video/nJzlq5DDfJo/video.html
Just 3er race of the season, rookie Montoya leading (from lap 3 to 38) by 30 seconds and then, Old Verstappen slammed into the back of Montoya's car.
Montoya hasn’t changed a bit…..he has the same physic now as he had when he was in F1!
Juan Pablo "Ya'-Know-What-I-Mean" Montoya :D
one of the Champs that never was, such a pity, as, on raw talent, he was as good as anyone
All time legeand.. JUAN PABLO MONTAYA.. MICHAEL SCHUMACHER.. MIKA HAKKINEN.. FELIPPE MASSA.. KIMI RAIKONEN.. FERNANDO ALLONSO..SEBASTIAN VETTEL.
people hate on drs but it made for some good racing at saudi arabia
Juan Pablo " Maverick" Montoya
Montoya still has that quirk about him, the in your face brute mentality with which he upset Schumacher sometimes with.
Juan thought it was a good idea to bring extended family to a GP when racing for McLaren. Leaving nowhere for sponsors to sit during the GP. Classy family.
This downturn in behaviour started when he broke his head after altercation with cameraman
