    I guarantee one of these CZcamsrs are gonna come out with a volume knob plug-in and charge $100. They'll tell you it's better than your DAW's level adjustment. Put it on every track for that shine.

      for real a lot of these can be done in fl patcher. a lot of these one off plugins feel just like a standalone version of a fl studio patcher preset. i get different plugins use different algorithms but that doesn't mean that much when the algorithm is the DEVS personal preference. I find i have more creative freedom when i explore my own preference than be stuck with these one off plugins.
      i only make an exception if i really like the sound to the one off plugins like drums that knock.

    if you want to see what all the knobs do on backmask by the way you just gotta hit the “?” Symbol at the bottom of the plug-in and it will label everything. They make it kinda obscure on purpose and even jab at you a little bit if you use the button lol but it’s a lot easier to use when you know what everything’s doing

    I think it would be sick if he added some sequencing options to the plug-in so it’s not so bare-bones.
    Like the whole idea with the flux mode is that it alternates between a “normal sample” and a “backwards sample”. What would be really cool is if he made some sort of sequencer with this functionality. Maybe like 4, 8, or 16 steps, and each step can be either forward or backward. Maybe you can also change the pitch of the “sample” (octave up or down) for each step or make some of the steps have a shorter loop length on the left or right.
    This would be a little bit more in depth then what this plug-ins vibe is, but I think it would bring it to a point where it’s actually doing some thing kind of new.

    This looks like a great plugin for beginners compared to Backmask, I wouldn't mind paying the extra money for Retrograde. The only thing I would hope for in a update to Retrograde is some parameter info when you hover over options, and some saturation with highpass options, but developing a plugin is tricky so I can't really say anything.

    I mean, I have to take a look at Baskmask a bit more to really say for sure, but Retrograde just seems a bit more convenient; most of the third-party plugins out there can be replicated in one way or another, but where the 3rd party plugins really shine is being faster/more convenient to use. I think you can probably get a faster result out of Retrograde then backmask, while also taming the frequency range of the reversed signal vs adding a separate filter/EQ when using backmask. It may not be considered friction to use backmask, but it seems like it to me if the goal is to have a faster workflow

    • @Weaverbeats
      @Weaverbeats  Před 2 lety +4

      Backmask has more rhythmic and pitch options, but absolutely no ease of use. Retrograde is convenient but is lacking in features beyond the basic reversal.

    @yuufeternal5837 Před 2 lety +3

    You didn't even toggle the sync stuff? You mentioned it early but didn't even think of unsyncing? I don't think you did the plugin justice by not going through everything

    • @NickFord92
      @NickFord92 Před 2 lety

      Doesnt really sound like a feature that will save the plugin, and more often than not you'll want to keep the sound the same on left and right. It still lacks features that backmask has and it's more expensive than it. I think the 5/10 is an appropriate score. Also 5/10 means it is decent, it's not a bad score it just isnt above average especially when theres a cheaper more fleshed out version of the plugin out there.

    All this convinced me is to get freakshow plugins, they seem so fun and weird.
    Also, am I the only one who thinks Retrograde looks really bad?
    So bland, the colours are just not inspired at all. This might be a minor detail, but I find myself going back to plugins I think look nice, for example all the Baby Audio plugins look really good and clean imo, which is also important, I do not want any visuals to hinder my workflow.
    But, yeah, some nice galaxy background would have been great, something inspired by Portal for example. This just looks like a stock FL plug-in and since I am not an FL user and have no connection to these colour schemes...that is not great

    • @aerrowqueing

      @@IncyzionEdits Coincidentally, most of the really great plug-ins that are universally liked (e.g. FabFilter Pro-Q 3 or Serum) have really good and nice UI, that is extremely easy to intuitively understand.
      Obviously it is mostly about sound, but usability is really important and a clean, simple, and a nice interface just helps with that. One of the reasons why Portal and Thermal are so well beloved.
