On the subject of how many golf balls to carry, for years I must have had 20 golf balls in my bag and there were two reasons for doing that. First, I didn't want to have to fool around restocking my bag after every round because I wasn't playing often enough, nor was I good enough to care or worry about it. Second, I kept a sandwich bag of 3 or 4 'junk' balls or found balls that I would use on water holes, in case I put my drive into the water. My game improved vastly over the past 2 seasons, to the point that I didn't have to carry junk balls anymore but I still like to keep more than enough, for the same reason as before. I just don't always have time to check how many I have before playing because I often go out at the last minute. Just one man's opinion :)
Make enough room for the 12 pack. That's it 😜
Liquor golf
I pop about 6 shooters in there or a pint lol, doesnt take up much room, good for injuries, pee less.
@@mackallwishfoundation i like the way you think
@@mackallwishfoundation wow my friend you have opened my eyes to a new world 🤣🤣
😹😹😹😹😜laughing out loud
don't be the guy who carries only six golf balls and has to ask your buddies for balls when they run out :-)
Right! I play with some guys that have this saying, '...loose one, find three!'😂
I’m the guy who some days loses 2, and some I lose more than 6 🤷🏻♂️
I carry at least 40.
@@TheRealEric__1 and have two in your pocket on the tee box
@@michaelmantione286 actually, I do. Just in case. Never said I was good.
Thanks Matt. I always love your enthusiasm for whatever you are explaining.
Man, exactly how I like to do it with my bag. Only the putter move I put in front, but your way is better. I'll follow it. Thanks 👍
Hi Matt. Enjoying your videos down here in Australia. I use a clear plastic bag for my tees, markers, divot tools etc. That way I can see exactly what I have.
Matt: I like how you describe in such detail ( clanking the clubs when you walk ) - - keeping it real. The other HUGE Pet Peeve is guys who only have one ball with them on the tee. They blast one OB and then don’t have another ball with them for a provisional…which results in either them asking me “Do you have a ball?” Or they need to walk back to their cart for a ball. My father always said “Have more than one ball with you on the tee”
hahaha... we have one guy who sometimes does not even bring a club to the tee area.... bit preoccupied.
I've played with people that don't bother to bring balls or tees to the entire course lol.......... First thing they ask: "can I borrow some balls (or tees)?" Ahhhhhh, no. You can go inside and buy some cheap azzzzzzzz.
@@ivankrushensky reminds me of guys I play with, only instead of only asking for balls and tees, they also ask if I have any extra cigars and if they can have a sip (half) from my flask
Very good points, and basically what I carry with the exception of carrying 9 balls versus 6.I don't normally lose balls except on water holes so I want at least one sleeve more.. My bag is also a 6 way top .Thing is I only carry 11 clubs .Other than that I arrange things for convience with my tee's, 1 or 2 balls, my divot tool and ball marker in the upper small side pocket. There is a large compartment that runs the length of the bag for a light jacket, and a pouch with my keys, wallet and phone .Pens and pencils have a small space as does a place for water. My golf balls and gloves have their own compartment as well.
As to the clubs, they go in order with 2 clubs in each sleeve with the putter and retriever in the bottom compartment.
Identical bag layout to me , right down to putter placement :D
Another great video! Keep up the content. I love the way you just tell it like it is.
Thank you Matt; I appreciate your enthusiasm for your content. Thank you for the helpful tips!
The first thing you mentioned ( umbrella and rain gear) is the first thing and most important set of items when you live in England 🏴 (Manchester)
After playing all through high school and college this is the EXACT way I ended up organizing my clubs. This man knows his stuff.
Same but i put balls and tees in same back pocket. Way quicker to grab a ball and tee while unzippin 1 pocket
Matt is the man, favorite golfer on CZcams hands down
Pro tips droppin everywhere. Thank u
To all those wanting to walk, invest in a push cart. You get the same exercise without jacking up your back in the long run! And not to mention, it's a more enjoyable experience.
Love this content. I've tried switching clubs around to different positions until I get to my liking. We have too much snow now so done until spring.
I wonder if you could talk about golf course etiquette? Waiting in line, fixing divots and ball marks, etc.
Thanks Matt love this channel.
Look up manolo teaches golf amigo.
Great Video I had my clubs set up that way and def lost my putter cover being on the bottom.
Great stuff to think about! Love the videos!
My local course has so many leaves down, that it’s so hard to find balls, even on decent shots. You could walk right by the. All 5 times and not see it. I got their first on Tuesday morning after the groundskeeper, blew the leaves away and found 14 balls. It was great
Just pick up 10 balls on edge of long grass... only there was not a single ball that was not junk. I prefer Vice or proV... not practice striped ones.
4:56. 😂😂 Just started playing golf last week and that's so true about using found golf balls. I brought like 15 bc I thought I was gonna lose a ton.. Every time I lost one I'd find like 2 others while not finding my own and I just played with the ones I found because they were nicer 😂
You are definitely one of the more funny golf guys on CZcams. I enjoyed this piece a lot.
I knew mr short game would have the advice on bag setup. He has advice for everything golf related. Thanks. A big fan.
Great video. Making the changes now. The towel between the irons is great.
Hahaa! I just got a new bag yesterday. It's a little different than what I typically carry, and BOOM this vid comes out. And you just echo'd almost EXACTLY the way I carry. Good vid, good timing. Cheers bro
+1 on the putter placed with the woods, I do the same. I use a set of low profile neoprene covers for all my irons, keeps them safe and silent. I tie my towel in a knot on the upper hard plastic handle.
Fun little video Matt, I'm looking to do a WITB series soon and this format is a great inspiration.
You are a very good youtuber and you create good content, and it is also very educational, entertaining and fun , please carry on with shooting your content. You should not do things because you are being forced do it because you like to and I can see that you are passionate and love what you do.God bless you all the way from South Africa⛳👍
Thanks, Matt! Love your content brother!
Hi Matt, Love the content. As for number of balls I go with 9. I'm a mid handicap so some days I don't lose any and other days its a disaster. 9 has always gotten me though 18 holes and has yet to fail over the past 20 years. The extra 3 balls feel like insurance....
at 9 handicap your better than most( me at least) mid handicap😂😂 i need upwards of 9 balls a hole 😂
I have like 20 balls in my bag lol but I'm like a 30 handicap soo I lose alot ! 😅
dont feel bad i have the entire bag of used 42 from walmart in mine. max insurance
I typically take 9, my home course where I’m at now is devoid of any water so I don’t have to worry about hitting into those ball magnets so I may roll with 6 usually now. If I’m playing with a friend who’s a relative novice I’ll take several more, maybe 9-12 in case they happen to lose one and instead of them searching endlessly for a lost ball, lose all their balls or have to rely on a random found ball that could be scuffed or beat up, I’ll toss them an old but fresh out of the box Nike Mojo ball that was my go to ball for the longest time so there’s no mistaking a ball I gave them for one of my Pro V1’s
Great stuff. Not sure why you don’t use a rain glove (or pair of rain gloves). I use them both in the rain and in extreme heat. Then, I only need the one (or two if wearing a pair), and never have to take it off until the 18th hole…I also use iron covers to protect my irons so they don’t look 10 years old after a year since I tend to buy new clubs every two years or so…get top dollar for keeping them pristine.
Great vid man 👍
Thanks man that really helped me a lot
In a UK winter you may need to switch water bottle for a flask of hot tea or coffee . Maybe a Choc bar also, on top of wet weather gear.
I really like to towel inside the umbrella tip.
Bag Boy Revolver is the best bag on the market. 14 way divider with shaft clips to keep clubs from rattling, separate putter sleeve, insulated cooler pocket on the front along with 10 different zippered storage pockets. All this and the top rotates 360 degrees to make Club access easier. Been using them for 20 years.
Also, love the length of this content. You get to it!
Good stuff Matt!
I really like videos like this. Golf fundamentals stuff. It doesn't always have to be about the swing. BTW, where's the club brush :)?
I love your videos Mr Short Game Golf!
Awesome video thanks for the info....
Great video as always Matt. What happened to the Mizuno stand bag???
I use a 14 slot cart bag as I have graphite shafts. I've heard they can get dinged in a lesser-slot bag. Is that true or an old wive's tale? BTW, I live in SoCal, so I carry a poly vest for chilly mornings (like today) but no rain gear. Around here, we don't play in the rain.
Great video, I personally love the sound of my clubs when I'm walking
Great video: entertaining and useful !
What a helpful video! Definitely think you need more than 6 balls though - think I lost at least that many this past weekend.
Underrated channel!!
Gotta be honest - I cant stand the 4 & 6 slot bag. I need a slot for each club or I get itchy! Putter well if possible. Fun video as always!
Bad ass setup. Always liked your clubs.
Been waiting for one of these lol
Helpful video 👍
Even if I'm not interested in the video I still watch because Matt is pretty awesome and I enjoy supporting his channel.
Thank goodness for the 14 slot bags with full length sleeves; that setup works well while using a pushcart too.
Love the video! What degree are your wedges? Thanks!
Loving your videos, are you still using the Mizuno K1 Lo golf bag?
Hey matt, just wonding where do you get the lether pouch from i have been looking evrewhere for one
Ultralight 2.5 Sun Mountain bag, breathable rain gear not cheap (Outdoor research helium pants, RAB phantom pullover, Six Moon silver shadow carbon ultralight umbrella), Foot Joy ultralight golf shoes, ultralight hiking pack towel, knit headcovers so my setup weighs 2/3 to half that of most golfers a specially great when traveling.
Great suggestions
Excellent tips
Excellent funny and good. Love the part about six golf balls. Towel wrapped around the clubs while walking is a good lesson for youngsters To learn the courtesy of walking quietly
Great video, thanks.
I always carry some energy or candy bars especially if im playing 18 holes...
Ohhh I always wondered what those strings were for I would have never thought to put an umbrella there 😂 I’m fairly new to golf so this helps a good bit
Another 🔥 video.
Have my bag set up pretty much how you suggest. Just might try the putter up too. Be easier access.
If you ever want to do a video with a subscriber I would love too! Huge fan, love the videos and also in North GA!
Keep it up man
Honestly man...this is the best video on the internet....beats that video with the cat playing chopsticks with chopsticks by a country mile.
Well done. Much better information than golf monthly's video.
Thank you for the content I am a super noob but love the game
This is the only right answer for putter placement in a 4-divider carry bag. 👍
At home improvement stores, you can get a plastic cylinder that is for nails. You squeeze the top and it opens. That is great for holding tees.
Love my carry bag way more than my cart bag, even though my cart bag is nicer... My cart bag is now the stand for spare clubs, balls, umbrellas etc at home. Carry bag has 6 slots... Putter right at the top in the big slot along with alignment sticks if I have them with me, then driver in the first RH slot, then 3w & 3h in the LH, 4-5-6 next down on RH, 7-8-9 on LH, then bottom RH is PW-50 and LH is 54-58. Probably should get a pouch for the tees etc, I'm forever hunting for new ones lol
Thanks for the video as always. I've always wondered about the arrangement of the clubs and what is considered "right" or "normal". I carry mine with the longer clubs in the front (bottom) compartment. This way when the bag is standing (leaning) I can get to and see the shorter clubs easier. I don't have to wade through the longer clubs to get to my irons, and I see them more clearly. I would be interested in learning the rationale behind the conventional arrangement. Thanks 🙏
The shafts on your irons are steel so they are more durable than the graphite shafts of your woods and hybrids. So you put the woods on top to keep the iron heads from damaging your graphite shafts.
@@NoPlayJack Thanks man, makes sense. I need to inspect the shafts on my woods! 🤔
I do it the same way too. Not concerned about my other shafts, just prefer it that way
I'm still quite new to the game so play a mix of new and found balls, so I tend to carry 2 found balls max in my pocket and play whatever I'm playing. If I find others I leave them for other people. Keeps me ready to rehit a lost ball off the tee, or if I need to take a drop somewhere... I cannot stand slow play when someone hasn't got a spare ball with them lol
Stealth Matt. I couldn’t hear you coming. I was hoping you’d say “ lose six golf balls take six lessons”. Love ya brother Matt.
I will say this some of the best rounds I've played have been with either range balls I collect from the woods of a driving range I pass by on my way home from work or balls that I have found in the woods lol
Hi Matt amazing video what bag is that ping one
Sir I have an Founders Club Bag with separate tubes for each Club and slots that lock Clubs in place cart bag no rattle , very nice Bag!
The ultimate multifunctional golf trainer and accessory is undoubtedly the STOW STICK. Not only does it enhance my golfing skills, but it also ensures the safety and organization of my golf gear during play.
Hey Matt. I thought the Ping Hoofer was one of the bags you were giving away. Did you end up keeping the Mizuno K1-Lo or did you change your mind?. I’m in the process of shopping for a carry bag.
Great video as always, but one minor point. Unless it is winter and your course has a buggy/trolley ban, the best way to play is with a trolley. You get your exercise BUT you save your back. How many golfers who carry see their games drop off over the final few holes due to a stiff back or general fatigue. A trolley, either push/pull or electric gives the best option.
You don'
t see pro golfers carrying do you!
I think the best is a push cart. Still get the exercise of walking without the strain. But a riding cart basically eliminates all exercise benefits of a round haha
I used to walk all the time and carry or push my bag but here in Myrtle where I live now there are little to no courses that allow walking (😡) so I made the switch to the bigger cart bag. Of course, I kept the carry bag for when I travel or find a place that allows me to walk. It’s just a better game when you can walk in my opinion.
@@Iamwrongbut not if you suck like me! you get to walk a ton in the woods looking for your ball 😂
@@BIacovone i also am in myrtle - born and raised- never once have i seen someone walking a course golf carts at every course - except the par 3 courses
@@SamTurner843 No doubt. Big culture shock coming from the northeast where walking was the norm.
Maybe we’ll cross paths somewhere on the strand..I’m up the north end.
i bought a 14 slot bag and i hate it. 4 or 5 slot is the way to go. also carry is way better than cart. you walk, you can relax and think about your shot as you approach the ball. if its cart path only and you need a different club you don't have to walk all the way back and again to the ball. i play so much better when i have my entire bag right beside me for every shot, the cart just makes you feel rushed all the time.
What kind of advise would u have for someone that is or will a beginner
Hey Mr short game what umbrella do you use?
Hello. Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for a new stand bag for this season. Problem is that I also often use it on a Jucad/Justar e-trolley. And most stand bags do not have a secure hold on these trolleys. Do you have any recommendations? I really only use my cart bag in bad weather and competition conditions. Otherwise, I would prefer a light stand bag for training and private laps. So a bag that sits stably on a Jucad/Justar trolley. Of course, a stand bag with a battery pocket would be perfect. But that would probably still be a thing of the future at the moment. The Bigmax stand bags have some space at the top for a support on the trolley. But unfortunately these don't fit on mine.
Hi Matt, just curious what is your current driver set up?
What model of Titleist umbrella is that? thanks
hey boss ridge wallet user here too. the money goes the other way lol great videos! keep up the good work.
who sells the short type umbrella, what manufacturer, please.
What model Ping golf bag do you have?
A video on how to arrange your golf bag... has had over 140k views... 🤯 hats off to your content creating skills
The very best bags for me have individual, full-length dividers and an external putter holder.
In warm weather I always carry a small can of insect repellant. It is one thing that is easy to forget but is often amazing to have to hand.
I bought a Ridge several years ago and never looked back!!!
Thanx
Where do I put my Mr Short Game Alignment Sticks & Cover?
this man has it all figured out
Missed the cart pushers like us in the UK 🇬🇧
Where does the ball retriever go. I put min with my woods
Out of curiosity do I need more than one Wedge? Pretty sure my current wedge is a 48 degree pitching wedge.
Can u had add a stand to a golf bag? Do u have a clip of how to transport clubs in a car?
Great video - even better to watch at 1.25x speed
Where can we get that golf bag ?
