- After working in an unsustainable way for the last few months I'm struggling to find my old creative daily rhythms again. I'm trying to rest and find my way back.

I know there will be a day when you announce that Grady is building you a new humongous art studio!
I can't wait for that day!!!!
Isn't it fun when all of a sudden you know rearranging something is just right? I love your floor boards! Hugs to Coop
Yes!!!!
Love how you started your video with the window. Haven’t seen you do that in your videos for a while, is such a nice imagery for an insight into your studio. Enjoy the creative process over the next month and congratulations on the sale of your large painting x
I’m glad you enjoy that view - I love it too!
I put my inktense blocks, or pieces of them on a little dish in my table. Everytime I see them I think, just like Sandi 💖 it makes me use them more often too. Rearranging your space is like rearranging your brain, it lets the cobwebs out and the inspiration in. 😊
Totally agree about the studio space! And yes - having things out and easy to crab and to make is always good!
Hi Sandi, thanks for the great video, loved your work and somehow it felt like you were getting back to your roots,I know how hard you and Grady have been working on your classes but I think as creatives we sometimes spread ourselves too thin,so much excites us that we go head long at life and it can be exhausting,I felt you were taking a step back in this video and assessing which is never time wasted. As creatives I think we need to recharge and evaluate,When we got back from our trip to St Ives my head was buzzing with ideas,so instead of going headfirst into it all I wrote and sketched my ideas down to keep for those artists block times we all get.Last night we watched a superb film called Maudi all about Maud Lewis,it was fantastic, can’t recommend it highly enough, made me cry at the end,I know you admire her work so think you would love it too.Great to see Coopy up and about again,he’s such a great studio buddy.Take care, much love x🤗
I have loved Maud Lewis for a long long time and that is a great movie. There’s a lot of great documentaries you can find on CZcams about her too
I love your studio! You’re so blessed to have such a beautiful room. The floors are drop dead gorgeous!! You have lots of space and beautiful surround windows on one side with the most enormous views. What a blessing! 😍😍
Thank you!!!
I rather like “productive procrastination”. I rearrange and reorganize my studio at least 3 times a year, usually more. Every time I think the latest arrangement is the best. For some reason it helps me get my mojo back. Self care is so important, and I’m glad you are taking the time.
That's so funny Diane!
Same here!😅
Sandi, I think the one thing i miss most in life is my painting. Unfortunately my RA has taken that away from me. Keep painting girl !!! Love and miss you and my big boy Grady... Oh ya, cant forget Cooper. such a good pup...
Hey Lonnie!!! So fun to see you comment here! We miss you and I’m sorry the RA had interfered with your painting!
Your shadow, when you are dressed and loaded up with all your painting gear, is so fun! It would look great painted into one of your landscapes sometime.
Thank you!
Congratulations on the sale of your first large paining. Don’t limit yourself to a certain size painting just because you don’t think something different or larger won’t sell. Do what you want and it will be reflected in your work large or small and make it appealing to buyers.😊❤️
Thank you!
I’m glad you told us Grady was building steps for Cooper. It have me a warm happy feeling on a day that has been terrible. Sharing is caring, lol.
🥰🤗❤️
Cooper is looking good! 😀 and yay! for the big painting sale! 😀
Thank you!
Sometimes you've just got to rest and get back in the flow of things.
That’s definitely what I’m doing!
Sooo happy to see Cooper looking better. My Shih-Tzu was sick just when he got sick, I thought she was dying, then we found out it was a tick bite. Has been on antibiotics for nearly a month.
Totally in love with the sketchbook landscapes! It feels like just yesterday that you’d said you don’t really do them, then set up in your sink to try it again, and boom you were off to the races!! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
That’s so true! It really doesn’t take long to grown in something if you just keep working at it.
Congrats on selling your new painting love the sketches Cooper is adorable and also love how his mamma talks with him thanks for sharing Sandi 💕ohhhh your work space looks awsome 😀 love the collab piece 😊
Thanks so much 😊 Deborah!!!!
Love your creative energy. Sometimes it is good to step back, take deep breathe, take care of your health and relax. Wish I worked in acrylics to take your class. But you give me great energy to explore different mediums to use with my pressed flower cards. Also inspiring for alcohol inks and permission to make "bad art". Beginning to see the landscape through your eyes.
Thank you Karen! I actually share a lot in the class that crosses mediums so you may still want to check it out - all the color mixing stuff crosses most all mediums. So glad you're finding some inspo here!
I am loving the new course Sandi…. After all your hard work you need to take time to recharge…just take care of yourself please…. Great to see darling Cooper and his wagging tail 💕. I really enjoyed the sketchbook tour….and congrats on the big sale! 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you for purchasing the class Jeanette - I'm thrilled you're enjoying it!!!!
You just birthed a new baby with your online class. That took so much out of you - of course!, you needed rest and regrouping. You just changed your horizon line by taking on and completing a hard project. Love how you respected listening to yourself as you explore this new stage you’re in.
It did feel like birthing a baby 😂
Hi Sandy, I really like your new studio set up! Your really fortunate to have such a big room with storage, and running water, and SO many windows. I am a bit envious. Your also beyond lucky to have a sweet hubby, who helps you along your creative journey. Doing your packaging, some grunt work, and sounds like any way that he can. He is simply happy to support you. And last but not least, you and your niece are just two peas in a pod! I love seeing you girls work and play together. You both seem to really understand one another. Take the much needed rest that you need, and I'm glad your getting your mojo back once again! Thanks.
Thank you Lynn!!!
Cooper is so precious. "Yeah, Mom, let's function!" I've missed your videos!
Wonder why you missed my videos? I've been posting.
Oh right. Probably because before last week I've been binge watching your old videos and I didn't have to wait a whole week to watch a new one. Getting used to the real time now, haha
@@nichegosebe 😂😂😂
Congratulations on selling the big one, Sandi!! Loved the video 🤗
Thanks so much Karen!!
I liked the face on the jug too! Hahahahahaha
Thank you!
How wonderful to see your way of arranging your studio. You are so genuine with sharing your work. It made me want to paint and inspired. Thank you Sandi. I want to joine your class. How do I go about it
Hi Sandi, I’m always so happy I watch your videos. I wince every time you paint over your work. It’s good every time . And your sketchbook work is always good. A book of your work would make me happy. Thanks for all your efforts to film. I’ve learned the most from you!
I hope to do a book in the future!
@@sandihester oooh! That would be amazing! 🥰 (PS, Sorry to eaves drop here 😉)
Congratulations on selling your large painting! Loved todays video as I am in the productive procrastination mode also. Thank you so much for the videos, I love them they are so much fun always cheer me up and inspire me to keep going!!💕💕
Have fun procrastinating 😂
I often find after a big paint… I feel out of sorts until I find my next project…..
I love watching your videos, thank you. You are the most generous young woman I know!
Sandi, your videos are so multi-layered, by time, mediums, computer b.s., different paintings and sketch books…I’m sure I missed a whole lot. So good. Take care of your health first!
Thank you for that Kathy!!! I appreciate you noticing!
LOVED today's video Sandi! I could watch you paint for hours. It's so interesting and fun to see / hear how you tackle issues in your painting (and even your studio set-up). It's always so helpful and interesting to hear your process. Love. Love. (And congrats on the painting sale. Woot! Woot!!)
Thank you so much Michael!!! I had a feeling you’d like this video - it was a little shorter though 😔 but shorter ones allow me to do more fun editing
@@sandihester There is nothing wrong with shorter videos. I fell in love with your channel when you only shared shorter videos. There's no need to share a feature film every week. 😉
I adore watching you work
🥰 thank you Kathleen!!!!
Hi Sandi 🖐🤗
...have missed your posts the past 2 fridays ....hope you have been working or camping and that all is well with you and cooper and all your family ❤
Thank you! I’m back!
Congrats on reaching 16k subscribers!
Thank you Amanda!!! Really appreciate that!
Loving those zebras, and the plate.
Thank you!
I just caught up on my missed videos and … what a treat! So glad you got away to camp and paint and so glad you got to rearrange and freshen your studio.
When you painted over the duck, I almost cried! He was so darling! But your process reminds me that sometimes you need to just let go of something, even if it is beautiful!
Thank you for your generous gift of time and creativity.
Thank you Laura! Sometimes you have to lose what you like to get to something you love.
I understand those times you get out of the flow and its a struggle to find it. And I love the set up of your tables. I'm trying to choose a wall to be able to hang my canvases, it seems like such an unrestricted way to way to paint. Anyways, super happy to see Cooper feeling better and able to enjoy his days ❤️ Take care!
I’m loving painting that way so much Monica!!!
Thank you for sharing transparency. It was interesting to learn as an artist there are things you intentionality do to get motivated, it doesn’t just happen. I work full time and I find it very difficult to get into a creative flow. I signed up for your class and I am excited! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. 😊
Love the class and can’t wait for the next💖💝❤️
Awe - thank you soooo much Sandylee!!!!
Hi Sandi, fairly new subscriber here. I admire how expressive your work is and how you take your sketches to final paintings (plus all the painting over again and again, very encouraging to watch). Doing your course and loving it. Bummer I missed your still life class, cause I really love your still life work. Congratulations on selling the big painting! And nice to see you at Emma's book launch yesterday too :)
Hey Wen!!! I'm thrilled you're enjoying the class - thank you so much for purchasing it and for letting me know you're enjoying it! Emma's book launch was fun! AND welcome to the channel! So glad to have you here!
Wonderful bright studio
Thank you - I love it too!
Your sketchbooks are so inspiring!
Thank you Janine!
I found two of those brushes you like at an artisan guild porch sale in my hometown. I was so stoked 😆
Soooo good!!! Your sketchbooks are so awesome! Those lake ones!!! And the three landscapes that had yellow!!!! WOW! I can’t wait to see the paintings that come from those!!! Cooper looks like he is doing good too!!!
Thank you Diane!!! He’s been doing pretty good!! Thank you for your kind words!
Loved this, as usual! Love that little Cooper, too. What a beautiful soul.
Thank you Kimberly!
Love how your big painting turned out and glad to see Cooper looking well!!!
Thank you Jennifer!
I luv it
Always makes my Friday better..!!
That makes me happy to hear Marie!
Your studio looks really nice. And congratulations on the launch of your classes. So happy for you. I love the plein air sketches out by the lake. Your nieces sketches were really nice. She has a wonderful teacher. She will go a long way. Happy weekend! ❤🙂🌻🎨
Thank you Madelyn!!!!
Love how you’ve rearranged the studio space! Do you find it easier to paint in a particular season? I’m trying to do more plein air, but I somehow don’t feel as inspired during the summer. Do you ever get this? I’m discovering that I really love painting fall/winter landscapes most. I feel like I see the details so much more; not everything is saturated in green. But then, it’s so much harder to do plein air when it’s cold and snowy!
I do like bare trees a lot but I’m learning to love foliage too this summer! But it’s starting to get too muggy out to paint here now
Congratulations on selling your first big painting! I loved this so much I watched it 3 times! Sweet Cooper! Have a restful weekend!❤️
Really?!?!? Well goodness- thank you for watching so many times!
Hi Sandi!...........Watching this just makes me so happy!
Thank you!
Awesome work Sandi, studio looking great too
Thank you!!!
Really enjoyed the sketchbook landscapes at the end. Thanks for sharing! Have a good weekend. You too, Coop. :)
Thank you! You too!
Awe i love how close you and your neice are and what a fabulous artist she is 💕
Making beautiful memories 😊
She is a fab artist for sure!
i think moving the middle desk forward just a little bit more toward the center of the room will help.
Love the birds on vase. 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
Thank you!
Great video , omg I just love to see your big beautiful still life paintings,, your niece is so talented too..she’ll have those fun memories w you..Take care…hug for cooper so glad he is feeling better…
Thank you Veronica!
thank you for the video, great seeing cooper.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love you videos as usual. One way to keep from getting paint on your wall while you paint would be to tack up some large paper, or plastic dropcloth behind your canvas to save your wall.
I did that at the beginning and then decided I didn’t care 😂
Planning to sign up for your classes when my daughter returns to college end of summer. Will give me something to look forward to 😊
That's awesome Maria!!!!!
the work looks amazing loving all the colors I think you should paint cooper
Thanks so much Trish!
Yes, like a colourful abstract version maybe?
Loving the trees at 5:43 and the scene of Home at 5:48. Scrootchies for Coop! Xxx
❤️🤗
I cant waaait for our final and last country move (australia - New zealand) in mid August so I can get a creative space back I miss that so much and just being able to go with the flow and not having to remove and find everything to take over the dinning table! Its going to be fantastic! I love organizing and reorganizing so I might be a bit overly excited about it 😂
That will be good! So frustrating moving everything every time!
I’m so enjoying your videos! What an inspiration you are! Can you tell me what you use in your sketchbooks to protect the pages? Is that tracing paper?
Thank you! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos! It’s glassine paper. You can also use wax paper or even just stick a piece of paper in there - that will work too
I would move my desk up against the window then have the table with all my mediums in the center so i could grab from all the way around it anything i needed for right behind my working area.
Very productive procrastination. I’m thinking if the big wall between the sink and window was where you painted then you would have room to hang multiple and larger canvases. Plus, it would give you a longer view to examine them and see whether it takes your breath away when you first glimpse it as you walk into your studio. (And never mind me because I like rearranging every artist’s studio I come across.) Happy painting.
I agree but at this point wall has too much on it to redo it :)
The jus and design is fab I would take the tablecloth down and see more of those tiger lions which are fab.
Jug
congratulations on your beautiful work! I missed you ! Will the course have subtitles? colorful hugs!🌈
Thank you! I haven't gone anywhere :). The course doesn't have subtitles at this point
Sandy I request lol à book from your work…you inspired me sooo much!!
I hope to have one out some day!
specific classes for going big. that would be fab Sandi. I bought 2 very large canvases and im scared of them haha. i circle them once per day, but still keeping my distance. where to start? that is the question . thanks for your weekly inspo :-)
Just jump in Sarah! The surface only gets better and better - so don’t be afraid to make mistakes and start over
@@sandihester yes, ok. ill give it a go. its just so much surface though and trying to fill it.. i suppose like you say, you can paint over. thanks sandi
the raised wrinkles (texture) that I see on your larger paintings how do you do that? :-) just followed you, your a breath of fresh air.
That makes probably just thicker paint
Hi Sandi I've been watching and enjoying your videos for a while but never commented before through laziness... I cast YT to my TV and commenting isn't possible in the moment. But I was struck today with a burning question... do you ever do paintings that are purely abstract? If you have I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see them x Kathryn
I've just recently been doing purely abstract work in my sketchbooks and I'll share/show them at some point. Abstract is NOT easy!
@@sandihester Great, that would be really interesting x
Wow am jealous
Which spray did you use removing the painting ?
What are your large pastels sitting on? Rice?
You can see here: czcams.com/video/xjSiVVw6-xc/video.html
Hi! This is a weird question, but how do you bring in income with your art? Do you sell prints? Design fabric? Wallpaper patterns? Greeting cards? Please know that I mean no disrespect to you. I actually believe that you are a very blessed girl to be making a living from your art!
I sell my art.
Why don't you swap the desk that you used to paint on with the table you do your computer work on.
Congratulations on selling a large painting.
Thank you!!!!!
How about a crow
Put a monkey in the pink vase
