Only Reasons Kendrick Nunn Isn't in The NBA! (JUST 3 SEASONS) Stunted Growth

  • Today’s feature is a player that had a real chance to shock the world as the first undrafted player since 2007 to make the NBA all rookie first team. He averaged over 15ppg in 29 minutes that season, and really looked like an important piece to the Miami Heat’s future. No one would’ve guessed he’d only play one more season in Miami and just 3 years total in the league. Kendrick Nunn was a high school standout as rare as they come, having his jersey retired to the rafters at Simeon high school, joining Jabari Parker, derrick Rose and local legend Benji Wilson. The future was bright for Nunn and what most liked about him was he was an absolute bucket. There wasn’t a shot he didn’t believe he could make nor a player he didn’t feel he was better than in the 2018 draft. No worries, because Nunn, after initially getting an opportunity with the Golden State Warriors, found his best fit being signed by the Miami Heat and immediately becoming an impact player. Rookies of the month, 16 points in the rising stars challenge, 2nd in rookie of the year voting to Ja Morant and an average of 15 points while shooting over 36% from 3 for his Miami Heat career meant little in the grand scheme of Kendrick Nunn sticking around, as he’d be traded from the team to the Lakers. The lakers used him for just 39 games before they realized his non value, trading him again to the Washington Wizards, with whom he lasted just 31 games. At this point it was a shock Nunn didn’t evolve into a more important player in the NBA seeing the first 2 seasons he had. His next and only step, overseas, where he’s playing well but mostly forgotten by NBA fans, what happened? Only Reasons Kendrick Nunn Isn't in The NBA! (JUST 3 SEASONS) Stunted Growth

I was very surprised as well. Seemed like one of their young core building blocks moving forward. It had to of been character flaws or work ethic why they didn't try to retain him. Still very surprising another team didn't snag him this past off-season. Definitely a very strange case anyway you look at it.

His team in Europe, Panathinaikos Greece now has seven European chips, and Kendrick was a major contributor. Adjusted to the game in no time, adjusted to the playoffs after the first game, and made an amazing final four run, also contributing on D. He's got work to do on that side of the floor, but he is locked in. Signed a two year extension too, is treated like a king, he is a jewel in the euroleague. He is not going anywhere, the NBA is full of PGs and SGs, why struggle being the 6-7-8 option when he is #1 in Europe.

You should of talked about him in Greece. Currently playing on a top Greek squad Panathinaikos. For those not aware, Pana is a top European powerhouse. In Euroleague he helped Pana win 2nd and they're currently battling it out in the Playoffs vs Maccabi Tel Aviv. PAO won game 2 today, but lost game 1 even though they were winning the majority of that game. I think he should stick around at least 1 more year in Greece. He's playing well. With a solid stint in Euroleague he can make a triumphant return to the NBA.

Update: Nunn won the Euroleague vs Real Madrid with Panathinaikos and scored over 20 points! He was a big part of their W. Heck of a player. Hopefully he stays with PAO, but if he decides to return to the NBA the Greens will always love him. Hopefully he stays in Athens a long time. With the team winning in their first year together, I can't imagine what they'll do in the future when they address problems and upgrade some positions and have that experience of playing together. Great job out there today!

At this moment, he is probably the best attacker in the Euroleague (not just points) - contributing to the team, being a leader, assisting, making positive impact on the team ((Panathenaikos) comparing to team performance in the previous seasons.

That 2020 Heat team was very special. You had Nunn the undrafted 25 year old rookie, Duncan Robinson another undrafted guy who played D3 in college, Herro was a rookie, Bam was a sophomore and they were led by Jimmy Butler who's great and all but maybe a tier below a true superstar. It seems really weird to me the way nba works. I feel it's all about the hype-wagon like a stock market that doesn't absolutely reflect the players ability(feel free to correct if i am wrong). Nunn came to panathinaikos and even though everyone expected him to start being productive offensively a few months in, he did that a few games in. A couple of months later he started playing really good defense most of his time on court and the last few games his playmaking ability is remarkable. One more thing to consider is that his mid-range/slashing game doesn't really fit with the european playstyle.

The NBA is Big Corporate Business in America and trying to expand the World 🌎 so with that being said corporations will never care about right or wrong but the care about perception. When you come to the NBA you need a basketball game where you are fundamentally sound if not superior than similar players. You then can separate yourself if there is something about you as a player or your game that makes you extremely elite. For example; great size for your position, a 3 & D player (pause😅), run a team but still can create… I think young guys don’t have a strategy and most of us don’t. AAU coaches and coaches in general talk to these talented guys and help them develop and think 🤔 strategic.

Its really injuries. When youre an undersized guard you can be good to great with good skill snd great athleticm. Losing even 20-25 % of that athleticm is a career killer. Now your an undersized guard whos even more of a defensive liability and a mediocre offensive player as your now an average athleticm undersized guard
