I remember they traded Wade because they were trying to give more minutes to Cedi Osman and the younger guys they got in trades. This was the year the Cavs turned their season around after trading out the under performing vets ie Isaiah Thomas, Wade, and Rose and then Crowder who wasnt fitting in the Cavs system. They were replced with Jordan Clarkson, George Hill, Larry Nance and Rodney Hood.

He was rehabbing an injury to start the season, but by the all star break he was back in form. He averaged 19 for Miami in that series against Philly. He could have definitely helped the Cavs do something.

I know wade was older but he still had something in the tank and LeBron was hogging the ball a lot. That’s why he got swept in the finals.

That year LeBron has as many game winning shots in the playoffs as anyone has EVER had in their entire playoff careers.
That year lebron averaged a 35 point triple double in the finals and lead both teams in every category. He was extremely efficient as well.

Clarkson was AWFUL in the PO, love was always terrible in the finals, smith was cool but he’s a shooter you don’t give him the ball unless that’s the play or he’s got a good shot, which lebron always did, as he’s a top 5 passer ever.

It was a huge mistake letting D wade and D Rose go since their trades were dumps. In the finals, Wade and Rose could have contributed big from the bench. The actual team that made it to the finals had garbage at PG and SG and at least Wade and Rose were vets that wouldn't crap their pants like the young guys. Wade improved for his final season in Miami and D Rose blossomed again in Minnesota and later New York.

From Cleveland prospective Lebron n d wade was leaving & they would end up with nothing. From Wade perspective he went from being helpful to retiring with that one trade. From a teams prospective they werent competing with the Warriors with or without Wade.
The real reason d wade left Chicago was cause Chicago blow up the whole roster and traded Jimmy and other core pieces walk away. He went to Cleveland to ring chase it didn’t work out so the Cavs did the honorable thing and traded him back to Miami at the trade deadline for cash and a 2nd round pick
