  • I thought I'd share my garden project.
I took my 18ft x 9ft over ground pool and sunk in in the ground on the lawn.
It took me about a month to do on and off with whatever time I could grab and of course the good ol British weather.
I hired a mini digger to dig the hole just under 3ft deep. Laid hard-core for the base, tampered that down then laid 4ft x 6ft rubber stable mats on top.
I dropped the pool in then built my wooden frame.
I haven't put handrails around the platform as next year I'm hoping to put a roof over the top so I can put solar panels on it to heat the pool.
Just got to hope for some sunshine now .

Not a good idea unless the bottom rail, sidewall and top rail are all rust proof.

Two years gone by, have you had any problems with water in the hole?

@dawnacious Hi, yes as we've had an awful lot of rain this year but the rain water soon soaked away. It didn't cause me any problems as the pool was still full of water. This year, once the weather changed I checked there was no water around the outside and then emptied the pool, cleaned it and refilled it with no issues
