- I brought a Scalpel to a Gun fight! Racing my 2022 KTM 890 Duke R at Portland International Raceway in the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association series Formula Ultra race, the premier 1000cc Open Class. Turned a personal best lap time for the Duke with a 1:09.7 on lap 2 of the 10 lap race, where I went on to finish 2nd.

I had some crazy battles in some other races. Unfortunately I only got to film this race and the action was very mild comparatively. But still cool though!

Hey Andy, love the videos! I haven't seen it (maybe I missed it) but what'd you use for your front number plate on your bike?
Really nasty to beat on that old superbikes!! 😉 I got my 890 R a week ago and in many aspects I find equal to or better than my Super Duke R... Enjoy!

Do they make a good windscreen for that bike ? When I go over 130 mph on my naked bike - I get all kind of wind buffeting..
150 mph without windscreen would be harsh. ( at least for us normal folks)
The Ermax one is the best I found so far.
Awesome! Anyone know what is the difference between the 890 R and the 890 GP?
The R has the better engine package, Brembo brakes and adjustable suspension. The GP suspension isn’t adjustable, it has a little less horsepower and no brembos.

Why do all other parallel twins sound like lawnmowers about to explode but this one sounds so good. Almost v twin-ish. The exhaust note for this parallel twin sounds rather pleasant compared to others.
It’s just the mic that makes it sound better lol. The 890’s sound like the cam chain is going to fly off the cam sprockets in person.
It's most likely the engine's firing order. Not sure what the 890's is but it's probably uneven; which mimics a v-twin sound. Kawasaki parallel twins for example, do not have an uneven firing order (180°) which helps create that loathed and loved lawnmower sound.
