Takes some time to memorize all of the corners and braking points in Nurburgring. I know it took me way over 100 laps to memorize every corner, and that's not even counting the awful lines, hundreds more laps just to learn the optimal racing lines.

@@YashaAstora when Gran Turismo 4 released, it was the most sim-anything game on the planet. There were no 'actual' simulators at that point and this is the closest you could get to the real deal at the time.
My friend and I 100% this game back in the day. It took us forever, but we would trade off and we both had our strengths that helped with some of the harder challenges.

I played GT4 last year again (and yes on actual PS2 hardware) to complete certain things. I did all the license missions on gold (which was quiet a pain in the ass, took me two days, even as a GT veteran) and actually managed to complete the driving missions (yes even mission 34). Something I realized (compared to it's successors GT5, GT6 and GTS) is that it's incredibly benefitial to work with a little bit of anti-lock (and if you're skilled enough without traction control) and break hard into the corner's apex. In GT4 most cars don't understeer that heavily if you do that. It saves a lot of time, especially when it comes to license missions.
ABS was always stupid in GT games. Before GT6 ABS punished you a lot by being super strong, so you had to break a lot sooner in comparison if you didn't use ABS. In GT6 ABS setting 1 was extremely OP and basically a must to have any chance of winning in online lobbies. Braking without ABS was a pain in the ass, any little more than 40% brake pressure and wheels would lock up in ANY car, which is not exactly realistic. Now in GT Sport ABS seems to be pretty realistic, it works the way its intended. On the other hand, TC is still extremely strong even at its weakest setting in GT Sport.
That Nurburgring Mercedes challenge is so fucking hard. I stuck at it for a whole day and finally managed to complete it, but not without spinning out into the wall at the end of the straight and somehow not getting a 5 second penalty, so really I couldn't even do it without cheating. Was worth it to get the R92CP.
learning the nurburgring is the best part of gt4 imo. It is such an important course in real life

One thing I miss from old racing games where how hardcore they were. If you did something wrong you had to restart a whole race, now everything has a rewind button.

@@sukhdevr3489 Assetto Corsa Competizione is on the PS and so is Project Cars 2. ACC is probably the most realistic sim for GT racing you can play right now. The level of detail that goes into simulating the cars, tracks and racing environment is unreal in that game, Gran Turismo doesn't even come close.

@@sukhdevr3489 Yep. Both in GT2 and GT3. It was necessary for GT3 since by that point I was aiming for beating the game quickly rather than with a variety of cars. Like The Wind still felt like forever…

I remeber getting special event 34 done on a real PS2. Funnily enough I don't even remeber it as being the hardest, however the Subaru only, the Ford GT (Race Car) 3 Lap Battle and ofc the Skyline Drag race were actual hell for me.

Are you playing the PAL or NTSC version? Mission 34 isn't that difficult on PAL but you start a bit later on NTSC (I think 9 seconds? Or might be 12, not sure). That is enough to make all of the difference.
To be honest i'm disappointed you gave up considering the amount of patience you need to have as a speedrunner. You should definitely give it another try!

Don't know how much more of this game you are gonna play but you can get rid of the "get ready to drive" text by switching cameras after the start. One of the weird things about emulation I have discovered in gt4

I should have the other missions (other than 34) on there as well. Most were pretty easy to me other than the stupid following missions and I cleared most of the missions with plenty of time to spare too. I'll do 34 some other time lol!
Now that I think about it letting you cut in special events was a mercy move after they realised what they did too late because prequels with easier missions kicked you out
i've been racing the green hell for a week straight in PCars 2 before hitting it on my Rx8, payed off tbh and i even got a good time with 9:37 (for the first time ever racing my Rx8 + having 3 people in the Car).
PS. Yes i was pushing my car to the limits in the very first round and broke its clutch in the 2nd round :>

Unfortunately I'm on the last mission, didn't take me long at all to get there but I have to put up an extra 10 seconds over the other version to actually complete this so I just started cutting the track and found the time that I needed because it's almost impossible unless you do it absolutely perfectly with zero mistakes. Good luck with that, and that's coming from a guy who got all gold on everything but the S licenses in about 10 hours maybe less.
The hardest missions for me were actually the pace car missions, the pace car was SOOOOOO slow, so many times I was passing the pace car :(
Edit: This man cutting the tracks so much lmfao! I only needed to cut mission 34 because they made it almost impossible to do and there was no way I was going to gain 6 seconds when I already almost raced it perfectly! So dirrttyyy I need a shower.

You buy the SLR and practice. The stock is pretty similar to get the feeling for the mission. I think the mission is pretty easy actually and really fun to drive.
ye same last time I played GT4 I got it like on the 2nd attempt, I struggle more with some other missions, the one with the skylines is still the hardest imo

@@kresimircosic9035 Yep. The 1998 Mercedes SL600 sounds amazing, it has a V8 and sounds like a proper AMG engine. The SLR doesn't though surprisingly. Did you complete GT4?
By the way, for mission 34 there's only 2 parts of the track you need to cut, the first part to cut is the first chicane, the 2nd part is the chicane after the 2nd FS straight, if you cut both of those you have more than enough time to finish the rest cleanly, and this is on the NA version so not sure which version you have.
To beat the challenge 34 u have to overtake the 5th opponent before the karussell (first U turn), then u have time to get a gold. If u don't mind cheating, can do wallrides on some corners
