    Sand up to 400. Very good advice. The more perfect your surface the better your finish will end up.

    Cool looking guitar. You blended the colors nicely. A lot of mass production guitars I see that attempt color transition stains like this have too hard of an edge and it doesn't look good. You nailed it

    Great video, thx. Another video bookmarked for the future. I have a build I'll be doing a finish on once I get finished moving and setting up my new shop. .... I've found that a wood conditioner works well for keeping the stain evenly accepted. I'm going to guess that what I call a wood conditioner is what you're calling a sealer.

    Fabulous video. Just loved it. If you wanted a super smooth gloss finish, would you apply a typical filler on top?

      Yes. Especially if the wood is grainy and porous.

    I'm down for any final coat that doesn't require sanding. Need to look into spraying but it's such a huge endeavor. Have you made a comprehensive vid about spraying?

    Hi Chris huge fan! About to undertake a 335 style kit with flamed maple top and mahogany sides and back. Using Angelus leather dye, is it advisable to seal the entire guitar, as I wish to achieve a uniform burst, hopefully on both sides? In your experience, is Angelus or Transtint easier to scrape with regards to binding?

    Thanks for the video. Question: can I just use sanding sealer on whole body (rathe than just curved parts) or does doing whole body defeat the purpose for getting an even stain? Thanks again.

    Can you go over how this process with the transtint works if you were using solarez as your finish?

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  Před 2 lety

      First mix TransTint into Crystalac Brite Tone and spray. Next, seal with Crystalac sanding sealer. Finally, apply Solarez ICBINL.

    Hey there again! I'm struggling with bright red and black transtint Dyes. I want to do a bust, but where the red and black blend, it turns pinkish-purple. Do you have any tips on how I can apply these colors by hand without the two physically mixing?

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  Před rokem +2

      Try adding a binder such as water-based polyurethane or acrylic to the red dye. Apply it, let it dry, and then apply the black. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to invest in an airbrush and compressor. That’s how I do it.

      @@HighlineGuitars wow thanks! I'll try the binder idea first. 💡
