- In this episode of Elite Dangerous Theory i will be taking a look at the Halloween event in the Coalsack nebula. I will be going over all the relevant logs at the main base and the crashed Sidewinder, Elaborating on my thoughts on this event and it's possible connotations on the future storyline of Elite Dangerous. Logs are not in order, reordered to fit the video.

Well done, Commander! It was the Adamastor that got me investigating a lot of old lore in Elite, from the first telling of the Thargoid sightings and subsequent wars, to the history of the FTL drives and INRA. Spent a lot of time in D2EA's Discord sifting through the info. And yes, you can insert the Pepe Silvia meme here! LOL! But I did make a number of predictions, which have since come true. Still looking for info though, particularly dealing with INRA, or rather who they were before and what they became after they were "dissolved". Been stocking up on materials and data, as I have a feeling we are going to need them as soon as Odyssey drops, if not sooner. Even decided to get my alt account going. Bought it quite a while ago on sale, but really didn't have much reason to do anything with it until recently.

You know these audio logs with the right director it could be a good movie not an Elite Movie but a standalone film, and incorporate some of the stories from those generation ships.
The Voice acted encounter sites are very high quality. Love these places.

Great video feed, I've been playing ED for years, just pottering around the galaxy listening to Fleetwood and pink floyd, earning creds and scratching the paint work of my ship, the Cabal. You may of heard of it!... ive been avoiding the Goids but it looks like I may not have much of a choice in the future. Looking at my charts, that area of the black has a huge amount of ammonia planets, plays havok with my air systems. Wishing you all the luck of the feds commanders. Keep safe out there. If it wasn´t by your channel I would not have known that ED had such a great lore and story driven stuff in it. I am a new player (only 60+ hours in it) and did not know about this. Man this game keeps surprising me. Cant wait to see what Frontier give us with the next Odyssey update. Cant wait to set foot inside an alien structure for the first time.

Thank you for this analysis. I'd misunderstood some details of the logs. For example, I thought that the firefight that Murphy witnessed was the security detail murdering the members of the survey team who were still on planet.

I think that the thing in the middle of the stone is for refulery and the Stones send signals for locating it.
Definitely a refuelling station of sorts for the Thargoids. I think it also contains some kind of hivemind intranet that is somehow compatable with certain humans.

There was a leak of a 3d model of a Thargoid Drone. I think we will be getting more of these sites but on foot.

Right now, if you approach the Wreckage of the Adamaster, you get contacted by someone called "Salvation".
I bet on my own Krait that there is some big Secrets to be revealed...

The symbol on the thargoid barnacles reminds me of an accretion disk of a black hole: brighter on the oncoming side, dimmer on the retreating side.

Thanks for compiling these logs, if i hadn’t of discovered your channel I wouldn’t have visited all the INRA bases and discovered the lore surrounding it. Can’t wait to see all of this on foot when odyssey is released, do you think you’ll revisit some things like the INRA bases and the mothership?

Great content! You put this stuff together really well, and this video has only strengthened my belief of an incoming full out Thargoid invasion into the bubble, so I been on a long mining trip to Colonia to escape the impending chaos lmao

@@MATTIUS for sure, so if any other commanders feel the need to you know preserve human civilization haha, they should also head to Colonia and attempt to build a defence force there and boom it’s economy and industries, but of course we can’t just let the bubble burn, we will not go without a fight! Great video Matt. I'm hoping that,when Odyssey drops that we'll be able to explore the abandoned sites and actually go inside them and crashed ships be it ours or theirs. Fingers crossed.
They would drop the ball if they dont use these assets to expand of the FPS elements.
I've often speculated that the sounds you can hear from the barnacles is actually Thargoids and that they are a sort of communication node. Like you're actually hearing the thargoids somewhere else in the galaxy loading up data and when they come to "beam up" whatever it is they do they are picking up data. Perhaps they are navigational nodes. The meta alloys could be some form of a self regeneration technology that is made to keep the relays functioning without needing to be constantly monitored. If you go to the "Super" forests of barnacles there are often scavengers running around and these could be like main waypoints or beacons. Kind of like a power substation and the other ones are simply small transformers/relays just sending the signal out further so thargoids can come in and upload or download data. Think of it like a Thargoid version of Universal Cartographics and they are coming to the barnacles to update their nav computers.
The Ram Tah logs on the guardians shed some light on this. Guardian scientists theorised that the barnacles are resource gathering devices and larger Thargoid constucts gather whatever it is Barnacles collect.
You should really start making a star log with all detailed locations cause most of your videos make me going to places i never been amd roam for weeks.

I'm convinced that something the Thargoids either created, or encountered themselves at some point can infect living things, that it infected the Guardians either due to the Thargoid interaction exposing them, or they got ahold of whatever it is that infects things and the Thargoids that showed up were trying to wipe that out. I think either some human factions know and keep it secret that they know, possibly involved with at least one of the alien factions.
I also wonder if everything Professor Carver said was real, or she was infected by it as well. Everyone in the logs seemed to be paranoid, and got pitted against each other, possibly just like what happened to the Guardians.
Also, she said she was 300 LYs out, but there was a crashed Sidewinder on that planet if I remember the video correctly lol. What if she never left the system and crashed into the planet thinking she was escaping? Or maybe she did. Who knows? Lol.
When she asked if the scouting party found something I think she was hallucinating.
Loved the intro , great start Commander Mattius. This video made me reflect more than many others , because probably I blamed too much on human specie since the very start of the conflict. This content instead makes me reflect that the two species are totally incompatible , in an hand us humans are too.... "individual" when it comes to approach a first contact. Let the example of the idiot I don't even dare to name who died in the name of "oh an alien ship! lets see if my beams work on it." Stupid? Human spirit is way more complicate than that. In the other hand sentient beings who live in a total different dimension , I don't think the word individual is even part of their absurd vocabulary. The way they reproduce , the way they create and use life to their service.... The way we react at that. Humans and Thargoids should stay far away from each other , but we know it will never happen.

It could be similar to the reapers in mass effect where they give off a certain frequency that messes with humans brains and that's what the cool sound they make is... (Edit) which is why the dude went crazy
And the Thargoids could be gettting ready for a human culling. It is a possibility.
The stones' description remind me of radio. I wonder if Thargoids communicate over vast distances using a technology unlike radio waves, perhaps more biological in nature. The voices being "loud but far" could be hinting at the nature of Barnacles; maybe they're antennae.
We already know the Thargoid have the ability to communicate using sound to draw images in a spectrograph. Could be though
Hmm "Far away"?. There are some pretty large sectors (as in several LY across) in the "western" part of the galaxy that are permit-locked, but have no way of actually obtaining said permits. I wonder if that's where the Thargoids are coming from? They were presumably reserved by Fdev for future content, so who knows.
Remember the definition of "Far away" changes as technology advances and it is easier for us to travel to those places. In the 1600s, the Americas would be deemed far away to the Europeans. I do think There is something to the permit locked sectors, but i think the Thargoids are from another Galaxy originally.

@@willl676 The Thargoids have been a space faring civilisation for Millions of years. Even Millions of years ago when the Guardians were taking there first steps out into the galaxy, the Thargoids were already a well established space faring civilisation.
i'm pretty sure that the last voice log should be the fist of the vice logs. first they find somthing and than they find out that its alien tech.
Yeah it is. I put it last to reinforce the point the story was making about the Thargoid drone being loose on the Adamastor.

What if there was a group of Guardians we didn't know about? There's a group that made bio-engineered weapons, and a group that focused on technology.. if both were combined, it sounds like something similar to what we know of Thargoids could be bio-engineered ships created for pilots who for some reason fight with anything involved with a possible infection causing a race to destroy themselves. That would also explain why the bridge crew dipped out leaving half of everyone, to keep more people from being exposed by something that would become super intelligent and spread to other systems.
It is worth mentioning that the Thargoids had a war with the guardians.

Had a look today at the logs in audacity. Nothing i can see.
All I'm going to say is that it's probably bad that my commander just got out of training and bought her Anaconda with her inheritance money, especially now with all these Thargoid flare-ups.
Get on grinding those Guardian sites and you'll have the Anti Thargoid weapons you need to fight Interceptors in no time. AXI needs every pilot they can get.
@@MATTIUS Honestly, I have no idea where any Guardian sites /are/, and I need to thicken my wallet a bit more before I'm comfortable with going out and exploring/grinding for mats.
@@thatonelass3912 Try exploration. Use the Galaxy map to filter out all but G class, B class, wolf rayets, Whites, Non sequence, and K classes to bridge the gap. Head towards the California nebula, use that the place as a base of operation and head out in all directions. You'll get those pay cheque Earth like worlds in the G class stars mainly. Make sure you fully scan each system, Look for high metal content worlds, metal rich, Water worlds, and earth likes. Remember to look in the System map once you fully scan and look for planets that say "terraforming candidate" You'll get a bonus for those. Ill be making a video on exploration soon so ill explain more then.

Was the AI that killed the guardians, this is why AI is banned by the 3 major factions. I wanted to see this story go further
I Think there is more to it than how it is currently displayed in game. The Human AI Ban Existed before Humanity was aware of the guardian sites.
Maybe the Guardian AI notices the humans not making the same mistakes as Its creators and thus starts surreptitiously guiding/aiding humans until we mature enough for direct contact.

@@MATTIUS My assumption was always that the flashpoint was in the Coalsack as it was not a huge ask to get there, but enough that those who did would probably be advanced enough to stand a fighting chance - and nothing more than that. But I didn't know about Murphy's report and the stones, and some of that sounds *very* similar in some regards to what happened to the folk out near the Heart & Soul nebulas 👀
If this is true and thargoids in the flesh/chitin raided the facility on foot... This is basically confimation that fighting thargoids on foot will be a thing if not at least explored.
Trust me, it was pretty much confirmed with the leak.
