Sony a7ii : Cinematic Lowlight Test + BEHIND THE SCENES

- Side shooting from the Director .While I learn film making I was trying out Low light test with my Sony a 7 II + Sony FE 50 mm f1.8 .The complete video was shot hand hold without a gimbal or any external stabilizer. Every scene was filmed in 24 frames p/s, f.1.8 and 1/50 shutter - ISO was set to 1600. Shot on SLOG2 . Graded with DaVinci Resolve.

It's a great camera :) but I recommend the iii if you want to really level up your game but dude I fell in love with this cam.
The imagine doesn't look that clear to me.. and the focus keeps changing.. is that user error?

Can u tell me how to get this stretch resolution with this 50mm lens please? I have sony a7ii and sony 50mm 1.8 and I thought I need anamorphic lens to get this wide shot is it true ?
You need Anamorphic for TRUE ANAMORPHIC look but if you want to fake the anamorphic I just put a black bar pretty much my resolution was 1920x698.
This look DOPE. I been contemplating getting the a7ii or a7iii. The a7ii is more affordable for me so I’ve been trying to compare the two to see how well it holds up
Hello! Actually the a7ii holds up pretty well with the 1080p. As long as you know how to expose and control your camera properly it should get the job done. But if you could save more extra money I will prefer the a7iii as well it's a good hybrid camera :)

I wonder how this would handle motion scenes like recording while you drive? I can't find an action cam that has decent quality for night time driving.

I like to shoot short films most of the times but my current camera sony a6400 captures noise in low light despite having a 50mm 1.8 lens. I am looking to sell it and buy sony a7ii because i think it is full frame and will capture lesser noise. Do you think it is the right thing to do? I am confused.
A7ii only shoots 1080p and the bitrate is not that high but it performs good on lowlight. I would advise you upgrade to a7iii if you want to shoot 4k for a better bitrate.
@@PolyRev I shoot most of the times at 1080p and majority of my projects are in low key lighting so thats the reason i wanted to switch to a full frame camera so that i get less noise and invest the rest of my money on lens and gimbal.
@@crookedfilms4190 either this camera or you can get a A7SII OR A7S but a7ii does the job in my opinion. You just have to know how to light the scene and use fast lense!

Can you tell me about the highest iso you can reach in a7ii ? And can i use PP7 ?
You can use 3200 and do denoise in post and dont forget a fast lense. Yes I use Slog-2 PP7.

Definitely! Slog 2 works better when light is present but you have to use good glass of ND filter so you can at least get some good dynamic range out of a 8bit footage.

This was shot on a controlled environment no people were around. We didn't wear mask while shooting but we maintain the distancing.
