That’s a really good idea for a staff room gift for everyone to use x

Lunch staff always get forgotten, so it's nice you've included all staff 😊

I’m afraid I’m going to be the miserable one in the room!! I’m so relieved this teacher’s gift business is a relatively new phenomenon because it really doesn’t sit very comfortable with me. And before everyone come for me, yes I appreciate the hard work teachers and all the staff do , but this gifting presents, is it really necessary? A card yes and maybe a little gesture but there are parents who go completely overboard with the buying ( not aimed at anyone here) and I wonder who is really for? I’ve heard some schools use these as a bribe to get their children perks in school, I’m not really sure I believe this but it certainly seems to create pressure and competition among parents! On a more basic level, do Teachers need specific thank yous and gifts? Are they not just doing their job? I used to be a nurse and we weren’t allowed to accept individual gifts, if relatives etc really wanted to gift , we had a fund it went into to benefit everyone or tea/coffee to be shared around everyone. Plus the expense and stress of buying Teachers gifts, there is enough to worry about! I might just be the misery in the corner but as I’ve said I really aren’t too sure about this issue personally xx

I'm not sure when it started, I don't remember doing it when I was a child. I do like to show my appreciation, especially when it's a teacher that goes above and beyond, which a couple of the teachers have done this year. But I'm sure you're right, it can go a bit over the top! I'm just very mindful that I want to get something to say thank you, without breaking the bank, getting things the teachers don't want or need, and I want to include all members of staff. Christmas time, I just buy a tub of roses for the staff room for each school. When it was just zack at school, at Easter I bought all his teachers an Easter egg, but now I have 3 in school, there's just too many teachers in the mix to get individual things! Hope you're well? Nice to see a comment from you 😊xx

I always like to purchase a nice gift for the teacher and for the assistants who help.my son. I tend to buy a Yankee candle, box of chocolates, then a vanity pack of cheap and cheerful eye and face masks, emery board, nail varnish and hand wipes.
The classroom assistants who work with Zachri got smaller Yankee candles, I got healthy protein bars for 1 assistant and chocs for another. I also added a trolley thingy, face mask and a can of monster for each (they both love it and I know the flavours they prefer.
I've also bought wine, whisky and restaurant / clothes vouchers before as well as scraves boots vouchers etc.
Basically I get to know the people involved as I'm at the school a lot, trying to find ways to calm Zachri down, get him to work, lower his constant anxiety driven drumming, refusal to work or issues relating to his heart.
My sister and some friends are teachers and I know the gifts they love parents getting for them. Because Zach has other teachers, a SEN lady and a school therapist who work with him over the course of a year I too buy things for the staff room. As the tea/coffee/biscuits/sugar etc are bought by the school, I buy flavoured tea, coffee syrups, buns, health bars etc and this year I bought vouchers to our local bakery so the teachers can enjoy a weekly treat for a few months.
However, unlike many parents, I do not buy Easter or Christmas gifts. At Easter, as Zachri's class is small I sent in the small ASDA £1.25 Easter eggs but this yr was the 1st. I'd rather buy a better end of year present than small gifts at different times.
Zachri is hard work at school. He has autism, dyspraxia and high anxiety and most teachers he's had have a difficult task with him and as well as verbally saying it, I like to show our appreciation.
It doesn't matter how much one spends, my sister has a few wealthy families with kids in her class, she gets fantastic gifts, Tiffany heart necklace nomination bracelet with several charms , champagne, £150 Amazon vouchers etc; but she also gets cheap sweets, b&m tiny fake cacti, homemade thank you cards...... Every small gift is greatly appreciated.

Aww the chocolate mint thins will really be appreciated after all the marking & planning they have to do in the evenings.
All of my old teacher friends said their evenings were consumed with planning etc, so that will be the perfect 'after eight' treat!

Great idea Claire, I think I will opt for this idea for next time. I’ve already bought the gifts for the teachers but it ended up being more than what I can really afford and it also doesn’t include all the other helpers too! ❤❤❤

Can we be friends in real life please, because you give really kind, thoughtful gifts! Hehe obviously I'm kidding, but the tea, sugar, biscuits & tea cakes are such thoughtful gifts that will be gratefully received & appreciated during their tea breaks!
    You've been so generous :) 🌸
