Removing an already dead baby is not an abortion, and not what the pro-life movement is against
And yet Republicans have taken steps to block exceptions to save a mother's life.
There are no states that have laws restricting the medical removal of the failed pregnancy. Buy the lies is what they want.
And yet this is what the pro-life movement created. A woman who may never be able to be a mother again, and a man who almost lost the love of his life along with his baby. This was entirely and irrevocably based on the pro-life movement policies.
So explain why this woman was denied medical care. You reap what you sow.
Agreed. I don’t believe in unlimited abortions, but actively miscarrying or endangerment to the mother should not count as abortion.
I'm a combat vet of Operation Iraqi Freedom in my 40s. Got chills and cried at this since my wife went through the same thing at 17 weeks. She lost her ammniotic fluid. Doctors gave us the option of inducing a birth which oviously would result in the death of the 100% compromised fetus, or have my wife lay in bed and hope for the best for months or weeks until the inevitable happened. She choose to deliver. It was painful for her both physically and emotionally but the sooner it was done the sooner we could heal.
This was in Florida years ago. If this happened today here in Fl we would only get the dangerous, costly, and emotionally devastating second option.

Okay, I'm pro-choice, but abortion is not often a "medical procedure to save lives". Many consider it ending the life of a "person" and would recoil at terming an unborn child "fetus" (disagree, but understand). Just like people freak out about the term "unborn child" and shoot back "it's JUST a fetus". The mother's health being at this kind of risk if she doesn't get an abortion is hardly the main driving force behind most abortions. Let's be real here, it's often reckless or ignorant people getting preggo and then saying "the H*LL with that responsibility!" That's not always the case, but it IS the case more often than the case presented here for our outrage. People get so disingenuous on this topic. Abortion is NOT a "medical procedure to save lives" in the VAST majority of cases. If I can think that as a pro-choicer playing "devil's advocate" here, how much more will people catch that faulty argument who are really all in on their rhetoric? I say "faulty" because "saving lives" and "millions of unborn children slain" aren't exactly going to mesh in their minds and the scenario of the mother's life being in jeopardy without an abortion is hardly the driving reason for the vast majority of abortions - disingenuous.

Because my body had not started the process of expelling the fetus, and due to the risk of sepsis, one day after the ultrasound confirming the loss I was in the OR getting a D and C. I live in Oregon, and if this happened tomorrow, I would still have the same options and care. It is morally indefensible that this woman was allowed to suffer and almost die. Abortion care is health care. End of story.

Womens Reproductive Healthcare is non negotiable - women must have the equal right to jointly control her care with her provider - the exact same freedom men have. No state or federal government has any role in reproductive health decisions of any individual.

As much as this ad is a harrowing story of government overreach, I can't help but think how much easier it would be to show this to my conservative family members if the end of the video didn't have Joe Biden's voice and instead had nothing but the silence that is only broken by the sniffling of a longing potential mother and her partner comforting her.

I don't have children (by choice) but this makes me so sad and angry knowing she could have had the treatment she needed and might have had a better chance to get pregnant again. This is possibly the most despicable campaign ad I've ever seen. The overturning of Roe v. Wade had literally nothing whatsoever to do with miscarriage treatment. All the overturning said is that abortion is not a constitutionally protected right and therefore, states will decide their own laws on it. The doctors who refused her treatment should be ashamed of themselves. A miscarriage is a horrific accident that puts the mother at risk. An abortion is an intentional termination.

What state are you in? I had a d & c in oct 2023 in GA. I had a healthy baby in july and developed an infection later on which required that.

@@ToriCerynik Actually, there are a ton of documented cases where women needing d&c's (aka: an abortion) have been turned away from hospitals and miscarried in parking lots, lobby bathrooms, and in their homes and nearly died from infections. That literally happened to the woman in this ad. That's what's so insidious about these abortion bans- they tend to criminalize pregnancy outcomes as well as just 'an abortion'. In these banned states, it's dangerous simply to be pregnant, because doctors are afraid to treat you at all.

Overturning roe v wade does not illegalize abortion, it just lets the states decide. Also, medical abortions are not outlawed anywhere, so this is completely false anyway. This accounts for like 1% or less of all abortions. Please value the baby’s life too. Also notice that she was DEVASTATED that the child had died, and clearly would not have been elated about or have wanted an abortion. Please also notice that they called her “baby Willow” and not “non-living fetus,” which acknowledges that the baby is in fact alive completely starting at conception. Prayers for everyone 🙂 ❤️

But it’s happening- and that what happens when you take the medical choice out of the hands of doctors and put it in the hands of the government.
As a woman I understand some of this grief having had 4 children and 1 passing. These incidents aren’t rare occurrences they happen more often than we will share and the pain and trauma is real.
