I wouldn't paint the beam right off the bat, but it might be something that you may consider doing down the road if you plan to drive the Bug around town during the winter months when PenDOT is littering the roads with salt. Hi Slade. Thanks for the video. I bought the bare version of the same 2” narrowed beam. Seems to be a decent beam BUT when it came to installing the steering box the clamp positioner nubs were sloppily welded and the steering box clamp wouldn’t fit. I had two choices: (1) grind of and re-weld the positioners or (2) make the slots on the clamp larger. I chose to make the slots larger and it worked okay. The other problem is the stop arm on the tie rod linkage has to be cut down to keep from hitting the “stop” bracket. I had to cut about 3/8” off to clear the bracket. Not huge problems but a little disappointing because the EMPI could have done a better job of placement. Hope your install goes smoothly.
Thank you for all the information! I was down for a little over a week, so I’ll be doing my next video on mounting the beam to the frame head. And installing caster shims. And of course, the steering box. Funny, you brought that up, I was wondering if that was going to happen. It happened to a friend on a Brazilian beam he bought.

I have always admired Airkewled's "Pro Built" complete beams, but the Eyewatering price tag scared me away. When I saw Empi was doing one too, I thought maybe it'd be priced more for the everyman? .....Nope, still Mind Boggling Expensive, but a nice piece nonetheless

I believe they are made in Brazil; which isn’t bad at all.
@@chrisbegger8684 actually give Misty a call at the Vw Store. I believe she said they do have them but she didn’t have it listed yet. She’s extremely easy to deal with.
@@vayabroder729 very possible! I think just the center section comes from Brazil and then they put all the rest of the parts on in California. I went over it pretty well after the video it is a very nice set up. I’m going to be mounting this week coming up with caster shims, and explaining why.

Do you mean wheelbearings? If that’s what you mean, it is actually spindle to spindle the bearings would separate
