    Hi not commented before, all very interesting and good to see thanks. I suppose that that this is the new packet radio message system. I used this years ago and remember hoping though nodes to send and receive messages as a licenced radio armature. I saw your comment on Km being used. I would agree with the other person, we live in the UK where all of our signs are in miles I feel rather proud of that we hung onto this from the EU. Cheers 73.

    By far the most interesting part of this for me is how far/broad the coverage is including the maximum possible number of nodes/hops, seeing the practical maximum distance you can currently reach in your area is extremely cool. Part of me hopes there will be a day where you could reasonably expect to reach most of the UK if you wanted to

    The guys on Clee Hill are regularly able to reach Bristol and Somerset, so there's potential for a whopping mesh if the stars align.

      Yup, I head up to Sedgely Beacon and it's possible to get Stafford and Clee each a single hop away. We're a couple of well placed nodes and better routing algorthim away from covering 90% of the population.

    Thank you for all the radio videos. They are enjoyable. Here is a thought for you. When there is colder air over warmer water, one can get radio ducting propagation. This will provide extended range. Both ends can be at sea level. Fog is a good indicator for this effect. Your map shows you are near the shore. Checking the weather and water temperature is a good way to see if effect is likely to occur. I like the scenery. Please keep showing the castles.

      I love ducting. i live near the North Sea in Holland. in the summer, HAMS from the UK are extremely loud on UHF thanks to Ducting.

    Absolutely beautiful terrain. I want to live in rural places again. The serenity and calmness is unparalleled.
    As I’ve learnt, back in my home town they now even serve 5G. Hah, best of both worlds. Feels just like a year ago when slow ADSL was all we got.

    I’ve gotten over 50km on 433mhz. 915mhz is a bit flakey and many people don’t know it here in Australia so the game is slowly taking traction much slower than many other countries 😊

    Anyone know what the background colours of the shortnames in the node list on the Android app are supposed to signify? I have nodes listed in green, cyan, and orange. Is it the number of hops between me and them? SNR? Something else?

    I'm Steve G4FAB - I used to speak to Chris's Dad Brian G8HCB in the 70's when I lived in Wigan. There was loads of activity on 2m then when the Liner 2 SSB rig hit the market. They were great times. I've just started playing with Meshtastic, but not much doing here in Bingham East of Nottingham. Hopefully I can generate some interest!
    The amateur antennas seen at 7.25 could belong to G3OHH?

    You can see my old house from there, 5K West Rode Heath
    There is/was 3 Amateurs up there
    1 with p60 Versatower by the PMR Masts but no antennas..??,
    1 directly behind with a HF Beam, and another with a Collinear
    Would be a Good Location for Meshtastic Device in Repeater Mode

    i live close to mowcop i can walk out in to my back garden and see it i am on the staffordshire side of it heading up to Biddulph moor got a HF discone scanner antenna just to do some listening i belive there is a radio ham repeater up there some where

    Hmm, that's got me thinking. I wonder if you could stand about 10 miles apart from each other, with Jodrell bank forming a triangle. Then use directional Yagi's to bounce a signal off the dish?
