That would be great for my small lawn care business even for the country
Sweet!
I have same at work
That stihl blower sure does have a hell of a pep to it
Yes it does
Lucky Funny Really Early and Silly Very Blower
I just bought the bg 50 I like it it should last a long time for a 140 bucks. I have another blower a weedeater brand its little more powerfull and 11 years old never had a issue with it I just waunted a sthil see if it will last as long as the cheapo
I bought this today instead of the 86.
Let's see how it works.
I still have my backpack blowers Br600 and 350. But I got this for the minor things.
I bet in one week you will barely be grabbing your backpack blower unless it’s a large open parking lot
@@DansVlog
I am on a job right now with that little blower. And it's working out pretty good
😚 in Lawn Care Dans Vlog
I received a Stihl BG-50 for free with a mower purchase several years ago. The mower I purchased years ago I replaced and sold long ago, but there’s no way I’m getting rid of my Stihl BG-50. It’s my backup.
Edging with a edger Is worth it in my opinion looks cleaner I have use a weed whip to edge but doesn't look good in my opinion but I do wanna pick bg50 blower for grass clippings I do have an echo pb755st but nice once in awhile to have a hand held blower for my 0.5 acre before fall time
There is a place in this industry for smaller convenient hand helps. Sometimes it’s just easier to grab it and go then lugging around a backpack blower
@@DansVlog for handheld blowers what brand do you recommend I'm a echo person myself but I am flexible with other brands if their reliable
@@redbeardedirishman5296 I like Echo and Stihl
@@DansVlog me to sthil I like the edgers and weed whips a bit more at times but love echo gas back pack leaf blower since their light weight for the power they push out
Great video and instruction! We have a BG50 as well and love it. Easy to use in those times of need.
Great video! Very cool! Thank you!
Thank you Jim
it`s good to see you explain, you do a nice job and next house is mess
Thank you Buth
I bought the BG50 and BG55 last year. I stand by them for sure
i use 100% all stihl power equipment and husqvarna 4wd mower and kubota gas and diesel engine oil for my husqvarna 22'' mower and kubota tools
@@michaelmactavish1728 nice bro. Personally I only like Stihl chainsaws, hand-held blowers and hedge trimmers. I'm a TORO and Husqvarna guy. But so far, the strongest String Trimmer I have ever owned and used is the Kawasaki brand trimmer. Kawasaki motors all day. One day looking to get a Wright Stander 36" (kawasaki motor). For now I still stand by my Troy Bilt 33" and Toro Recycler 22". Both Briggs & Strat motors.
I never had any issues with Briggs, Kohler or Kawi’s
Great video Dan. I watch alot of landscaping CZcams videos and you are the only one that I learn from, Thanks!
Thank you Jeff
Great stuff Dan as always. Here in the UK we don't have boxes in the lawns they are mainly attached to the brick wall of the house front, side or back depending
Thanks buddy
I love my Stihl tools. I purchased the Stihl MS 251 Wood Boss and a BG 50 blower brand new a week after Hurricane Michael devastated my town. The Saw is a work horse and the blower is light weight and does a great job.
Thanks buddy, glad you made it thru Michael ok
Dan, I’m in the market for a new push mower. Should I be looking at FWD or RWD? Thanks buddy.
I like rear wheel drive because when you’re mowing with a front wheel drive mower and you pick up the front wheels to turn you lose the assistance that you would be getting with rear wheel drive. Also I find with front wheel drive mowers it tends to go left and go right and it’s harder to keep it perfectly straight and make nice straight lines, especially if the lawn is slightly wet
Great video! I’m thinking about picking up my first ever piece of stihl equipment, the bg 50. I’ve got 2 backpacks but I need a handheld to get through flowerbeds and smaller property’s.
Awesome! It will be great for that
Another great video. As far as lawn care instructors go, you are on the professor level and in a class all your own. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and expertise.
I deleted my previous comment. Thanks, again.
Thank bud! I appreciate you
l am glad you made video over the blower I am going to buy 1 next month I was wondering how good they worked Thanks
My pleasure
I just bought one last month works and starts great. I have a acre property and no regrets on the power and performance.
It will move wet leaves too but fuel tank 1/2 the size tho had mine over a yr I love it.
Good point, thank you
oh I forgot to tell you I cleaned out the carburetor on my Honda I just received and I also put a brand new spark plug in it and fired the first time but after a while it seemed like the only one to run in choke but and I slowly moved to that I start spitting and popping but yet it still ruin I just let it run for about an hour just sitting and it cleared up some and ironic but seem like you just don't have the power but after a week seems like it cleared up some. thanks
Good job buddy! Keep working on it.
The bg50 blower is awesome had mine for 3 or so years. Have two backpack blowers , but always grab the bg50 every time
I was the same way! I had a BR350 I think a few years ago and I kept grabbing for my BG 86. It’s just so much easier to grab a handheld and do the job
That’s is truce awesome video
True
I used the triple action this year too. Great product and didn't harm my fescue. I have a nice dark green color minus the poa annua in some spots.
I loved the results from the triple action last fall
@@DansVlog I live a bit North of you in South Atlanta, and I got to witness the pre-emergent performance of the product. I wasn't sure how well it was going to hold up with the amount of rain, but I am happily surprised. Thanks for the content you post.
Great video dan.
I totally agree with you on the stick edging.its definitely quicker and a lot less chance of throwing debris by using the straight shaft high torque-low speed than using the curved shaft edger attachment or the string for edging.
Your Honda mower is in a league of its own.
I’m looking forward to the next video
Thank you George. 3 more vids coming soon and a Rotisserie Pork Loin!!
Awesome video. Keep up the great work on the yards and videos!!
Thank you Luke. 3 more vids from this week still to come
@@DansVlog nice looking forward to watching them
Great Vid Dan, cheers from Brisbane Australia.
Thank you
Although it was not me that asked you, thanks for the tip on Honda handle raising and maybe add another hole if needed. I am 6'2" tall too. Getting itchy to use my new Honda HRX217VKA I bought February 28th. Snow is finally melting in Milwaukee and I hope to try Honda out next month.
You’re welcome and thank you for supporting my videos
I’m 6’4 and have loved my HRX for two years. The tallest height is fine for me with several inclined.
@@trentburns1753 , thanks Trent. I did measure the handle on my new Honda HRX217VKA and like Dan said, it's 40 inches, actually plus depending on where you put your hands and it's actually two inches higher than my 2012 Honda HRR216VKA, so I should be fine at its highest height.
Dan another great video and the grass looks so lush and green.
Thank you Lilybet. Just wait til this weed and feed starts kickin'... these yards are going to be the poop of the hood!
Hey Dan, great video. I recently bought a BG56, in Australia that is the cheapest Stihl blower sold. Basically same as the BG50, except for a few extra frills. Great machine for the money, plus you get the dealer backup. Seems to go better with a few lawns under its belt. Also have the HRX217 , but with the Hydro drive as that is the only model sold here. Mulch/bag lever is so handy, and it has heaps of power. Must be close to the perfect side hustle mower.
Thanks Alan. The Honda is very impressive, that's for sure.
love your videos Dan. I use a batter powered string timmer/edger/blower on my half acre and its more than enough. Ego is a great bland. Obviously it wouldn't hold up in the commercial world
Thanks buddy! Back in 2013 maybe 2012 I had a battery set for yard tools… I hated every moment of it LOL
Wow funny I just got that same blower as a gift and I have the Honda mower great work but I'm not as fast as you
Thank you. Speed comes with efficiency. Be efficient and you will be fast
Hi, what edger is that? Don't see it in the links. Thanks!
It’s the Stihl Straight shaft edger attachment for the Stihl KM 90 R Kombi system. Only available at an authorized Stihl dealer
@@DansVlogOk great, thanks!
The orange Vanilla Coke is so good!!
Yes it is!
I was looking at the bg50 found a good bg86 for $60 I've also got a br600 for $150 if I need the power can't wait for nicer weather
You got yourself to very good blowers!
@@DansVlog yeah I've been slowly collecting equipment
Just 'powerwashed' my vinal siding with a pumo sprayer and a garden hose thanks for the tip. BTW was wondering how you get yard clearing jobs? And could i start a really small side company just clearing yards maybe plant shrubs flowers etc??
Yes you can. I use business cards and I go door to door and leave it for them to find.
Looks like the blowers gonna struggle with heavier bundles of clippings. Can't wait to see that
Heavier bundles of clippings over what I did 2 weeks ago? I would rake and barrel them if the blower can't handle it. Same as if I had an $800 Back pack blower. Work smart and use the equipment for what it was intended.
That house/lawn across the street that was in the background during your monologue needs some serious attention. I hope the owner of it gives you a call. :)
I'm a homeowner I have one it's an ok machine
i have bg55 and now sh86 wich use for snow clearing
Ya, it isn't anything special. Just a low cost unit. Great entry level blower or a back up to a more powerful back pack blower
@@DansVlog yeah the big br900 that be a monster of a blower or the blower for the kombi system
Get those brown spots taken care of buddy
Ya we just now are coming out of 30 degree temps.
Hi Dan! Do any of your customers/neighbors use in-ground sprinklers? Also, do you know of any women owned and operated landscaping businesses down there?
I know of 2 women owned lawn services around me. I have 1 customer with inground sprinklers
Of course, each woman will run her business differently, but in your opinion do you think they do a good job?
L👀X good DanO,I got 7 done today on my day off 🤓plus a few xtra things
7?!?! Woo-hoo!! Can I borrow $500 LOLOL
Dan my 3-speed Harmony Honda push mower it seems like it's in 3rd gear I put it in first and still seems the same I've been thinking what type of cable up top Hood get to little screws I mean to Lou vets are putting another zip tie on it would that work the Titan loot slow it down???? thanks so much for info
I am not at all familiar with a Harmony 3 speed, sorry
My next project is to put two new tires on the rear of my more I hate having bald tires
I gotta do the same on my TORO Recycler. Had that bad boy for over 10 yrs and it starts on the first pull as long as the spark plug is replaced and i do an oil change with each spring season. Tip: wait for someone to throw a mower out and go grab it for tires, handles etc.
@@poettreelawncare it's not often I see a Honda Harmony 3-speed lawn mower by the side of the road most people keep them till they fall completely apart.
Nice work you are getting in down that way, another couple of weeks and it will be full throttle all the time
The temps are a litle cool this week... 37 - 60 but our season is in full swing for sure
Nice video 👍
Thank you
Hey Dan , How do u go around cars when u snip as remembering some grass could stick to the cars body work cheers muggie 👍🏻
Low power but the customer always has the option and the right to move their cars if they’re worried about a bit of grass sticking
I just have to say look at how much smaller the neighbors sidewalk is because they dont edge nice job dan looks great.
Thank you
Great job Dan. It looks so clean. How short you cut the grass?
Thank you 2 3/4 inch.
HEY DAN HOWS THAT YARD YOU DID ON THE GIVE BACK VID DOING.IS SHE TAKING CARE OF IT.YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON IT HOPE SO .THANKS FOR YOUR VIDS.
A blade has a lot cleaner edge
I think so too!!
Dan, please let us know which brand of edger attachment you recommend. I used one attachment that had too small of a wheel and was so bad I went back to either using string or my old McLane edger. I have to think one brand might be better than the other in terms of user rating or quality. If you have a particular make you would recommend, cost is no object to buy the right one!
I can edge with the cheap $70 attachment from Home Depot and I can edge with the most expensive commercial brand edger because I don’t use the wheel. Hold the blade in place and go with it. I use the wheel only to block debris from hitting me otherwise I would take it off the unit.
Thanks so much, Dan! That's what I'll do!
Dan the Man nocks out another great vlog
Thank you Billy
I got a bg50 since the bg55 got discontinued
55 is same as the 50. Same engine and specs
Instructive video again Dan.
From what I've read Savannah has the 4th largest SPD parade, behind NYC, Chicago, and Boston. Not at all shabby for the size of the city.
I have a friend who lives there - she told me that the mess left behind by the parade is incredible. Like a factor of 10 more than the MLK parade, for example. That is about the biggest downside, as the cleanup cost is born by the city.
I looked like a tornado ripped the city apart. Heart breaking to see Sunday morning but the crews and my company’s dumpsters get it all cleaned up by lunch.
I have a bg 50
Nice!
👍
How often do you sharpen the blades on the Honda.
Watch my next vid coming up in a few days. Filmed it this weekend. Addresses this very topic
Those things on the ground, they are called a " pedestal"... I do that for my main job!
The tree root knuckles? Thank you for that!
Great video Dan, that 50 does look like a nice blower. I'm loving the BG86 I bought a couple of weeks ago, don't think I could go back down now though I have used the BG56 which is the smallest model we have here for a while.
The 56 and the 50 are the same blower. The 56 has a dual recoil and the 50 is single recoil. Other than that, same specs. The 86 is more powerful and a great blower
@@DansVlog Hmm. 56 seems to have a bigger fan I think which is probably the reason for the lower pitched sound. And it has the semi auto choke too. Will be interesting to see how the 50 goes for you, I have loved the BR700 and BG86 because they have more power to get jobs done fast which is what we need as we are pretty tight on time, but I will be even happier when the BR800 finally gets here, though I suspect that will take a few years like most of the other good stuff....
No the specs are identical. Dealer showed me the only diff is the recoil for $30 more
Dan, do you have problems with the Honda mower with the rear wheels locking up? Do you have a video on it?
Thanks
I think this is the video I did showing how to properly adjust the drive system czcams.com/video/ToAEHrmZoh4/video.html
Dan's Vlog thanks for the quick response. Video did help. Great tutorial. Keep up the good work.
I have the vacuum blower two for the price of one cost me $300
Sweet deal!
I just hade to take the mesh exhaust filter out of my blower are you going to remove yours. Didn't even realize how much power it hade lost over time till it wouldn't even rev up
Yes, that is called a spark arrester, I have a few videos demonstrating how to remove those from weedeaters and blowers
That place needs some dirt brought in to cover up the roots. You're right about not taking your mower in there! 🙂
I had a customer who used to chainsaw the roots flat! He didn't like seeing them lol
@@DansVlog lol! I thought that, but I was thinking it would probably kill the tree.
It’s actually the neighbor of this yard. He moved and now you see his edges lol. The tree is the one in the front yard.
What height do you normally mow at
2 3/4 to 3 1/4
how come you dont use the guard on your trimmer?
The shield stops me from being able to put the weedeater head in tight places, and the razor on the shield keeps my strength too short. Also it blocks my vision as I’m working around things.
How high was that handle?
40 inch in the all the way up high position.
When I'm at the job site customer's house I'm only responsible taking responsibility for the work of services that the customer myself have agreed upon during that day going to pay me for new one I'm not going to neighbor's house to cut grass unless they're paying me to do so. I'll charge if they stop me while I'm on working the ask about my prices you know I give him a price but they want me to go ahead and mow the yard then I'm going to tax them because they interrupting me while I'm working. Anytime I'm asked ANY extra work aside from what was originally already agreed upon I let the customer know up front that there's an extra charge for that service. People will skin you if you let them.
Thank you!
Wow. Your the first person i have seen to say they like that coke Zero orange.
How much is what you did in this video
These yards are all $40 yards
Anyone on here own a PURECAN gas container? Can you give me your thoughts on it. I just got home from Lowe’s and purchased the 5 gallon one buy wondering if I should return it because it was kinda of pricy.
I but the cheapest cans I can buy then I throw away the stupid EPA regulated spouts and get the $10 old fashioned spout and breather from tractor supply and put it on
Dan's Vlog
Dan, can you post a link to those spouts at tractor supply?
Thanks
@@TheDhughes01 its called ez pour....
Joshua Guenin thanks. I got to get me a few.
edging with string is lazy and cheapskate. nogo. most of my customers are won over when they see I take time to use an edger. nice sharp clean cut edges.
Well let’s not name call... some people like it better and it is more difficult to do so lazy is arguable.
They start hard. Under powered I owned 1.
Sorry for your luck... so far so good on my end
Y u buy equipment from a authorized dealer and not home depot or Lowe’s. Dealer properly assembles equipment and services.
Yes, I definetly prefer a dealer or box stores
Peppy enough 4 ya?!? lol
Peppy!!
You really cant use a string trimmer for edging easy especially with 200 feet of cord following you around
An electric weedeater?? Ugh
