I met Peter Tork some 15 years ago at The Handlebar in Greenville SC when he brought his band there to play. He showed incredible musicianship that night, playing the banjo, guitar, keyboard, and a few other instruments. Great show and intimate setting. Afterwards Peter stayed for autographs & pictures, staying until every fan had been satisfied. I made him chuckle as I and two of my friends stood behind him for a pic, and i began singing The Monkees Theme under my breath. He was more talented than i had known; but also very kind and gracious. RIP Peter...thanks for all the laughs.

Peter was obviously nervous and uncomfortable. He was not a front man but a great member of an band--4 person unit. He was really better bouncing things off Davy and Micky who he toured with in the mid 80's onward. I recall someone shouting out of the audience at a Monkees show in Erie, Pa (90's somewhere), "I love you Peter." And he asked where they were and when he could not find them he said it did not matter because he loved them too.

Sad to say, but it had to be one of them, right? Just like here real soon, there will only be one Beatle left. It totally sucks, but we're in the midst of saying goodbye forever to the 60's generation. Both of my parents were 60's gen, and they recently passed. It's happening, and it's difficult to wrap your head around...certainly.

you kinda get the impression his personality never developed beyond that goofy character he played when he was 20. here's he's 40 and dressed like a fop and looks like he's starving. funny thing is, 6 months later Mike was on Letterman, he shows up in a suit, much more coherent, focused on his career as a producer and just won an Emmy.

I almost didn't recognize Peter here. Looked so different. Too skinny, hair was different, etc. That outfit was SO 80's...Yuk. I'm a Jeans and T Shirt guy....I always played out that way....unless I was forced to, for a special event.
Now, only Mickey remains. The Monkees were a big part of growing up in the 60's. Great songs, TV show, etc. I miss those days...the 60's & 70's. Can't stand today's nightmare world.

Peter Tork was an incredible musician. Mike was one of the great writers of the pop music era. Micky is one of the great lead singers of the pop music era. Davy Jones was a broadway music veteran-singer and dancer. They took complete creative control after the second album. This crap about them a fake band is horseshit. Through sheer will and talent they made themselves a real and great band.
