In the modern version of the game, blizzard has almost entirely done away with set bonuses, but in classic, tier set collection is real and thriving! Here are some of the best set bonuses I can remember from my time playing classic!

I'm aware that I skipped over set bonuses like bloodvine, devilsaur, stormrage, but the focus of this video was to cover interestingly powerful set bonuses, not just the best itemized ones. I might make a part 2 to cover the rest of those more boring ones : D.
the rest are more interesting, 2pc devilsaur for example will be useful to more of the player base than 8pc t3
on my classic mage for example it was really hard to justify the 8pc netherwind because the gear was so bad
@@daynewilliams9433 its more of a pvp thing, which i mentioned. netherwind apart from gloves / legs / chestpiece sucks in pve
Definitely just make more vids man. I came in at the very end of classic, about 2 months before TBC (TBC best state of game IMHO minus the negatives you mentioned like the terrible idea of flying mounts and badge vendors) and you're prepping/hyping us all up for classic. Best vids on it I've seen yet.

I miss how special getting an epic was in classic. Getting an epic piece of gear was like a monumental achievement and it dramatically changed how powerful you were, especially with a set bonus.

dude rogue tier 1 nightslayer has 2 insane pvp bonuses, arguable better than using 6/6 epic ranking gear. nice video punkrat
even blodfang 3 set bonus is insane for pvp, 5% extra chance to proc poisons is like 2.5 talent points halfway down assasination. you can also use 2 filler items like bracers / belt and only break your 6-set on your ranking gear and still keep your 2 and 4 set bonuses.

T1 shaman 8 piece set bonus. Turns healing wave into effectively chain heal. Plus the crits proc the armor buffs. Epic hps.
And really good hpm with the 5 set bonus.
It wasn't a set bonus but at one point the Bloodfang Gloves gave an immunity to disarm effects which was helpful in PvP.

The 2/8 druid t3 bonus is absolutely bonkers. On first glance it does not seem like much but holy moly does it have a 50 % (!) proc chance. With that bonus every reju tick (even for your rank 1 reju) has a 50 % chance to restore 60 mana, 8 energy or 2 rage. Keep in mind reju ticks 4 times and rank 1 ones are dirt cheap. If you have some free globals in a raid you can feed a dps some free resources to burn through.
16 Energy extra in 15 sec... the Rage is crap. Best is to reg your own Mana 😉
Dude...if you think that is broken, it doesn't just have a 50% proc chance, it can proc infinite times off of 1 rejuvenation tick depending on how lucky you are.
My record so far was SIX consecutive procs off of 1 tick of rejuvenation, regen 360 mana. And the Rejuvenation spell still had another 3 ticks to go.
@@faffywaffletv8468 That sounds like some pserver bs. It doesn't even make any logical sense as it doesn't have any sort of recursion to loop itself.

One more idea for another vid would be to review the best buffs and bonusses you get from professions (tailoring, leatherworking etc.)

One of the best set bonus in classic is Shaman T2 3 item bonus. (+50% on second and third chainheal jump)
This is especially strong since you can combine it with full T2.5 for 0.4 sec reduce cast time on chainheal or with 6 T3 parts.
Anyhow T2 wrist hands and belt(or boots) are BiS items for any chainheal shaman in classic.
They nerfed this bonus to 5% in TBC because this bonus would have been still BiS in all of TBC.

great video! I remember piecing together T1&T2 sets as rogue but if you join late or the rogues your alt T.5 along with some LW gear goes a long way.

also rogues roll on that ZG bow once your hunters dont need it, stats are sweet!.....and your bindings once your prot warriors has theirs. if an arms warrior or ANY ONE but a prot warrior rolls on them bindings please for the love of god roll on them too!

Should have at least had an honorable mention for shaman t1. the 8set made your healing wave bounce to 2 other targets which was essentially 2 more chances to hit the 5/8 proc for mana restoration. At a 25% chance to proc with just the main cast alone, you were often times getting back almost as much mana as you could spend, and every once in a while it would proc 3 times in a cast and you got a free heal.
This is the most underrated set bonus in the game
Druid t2 3 piece (15% mana regeneration)and 5 piece (.02 seconds off regrowth)! Regrowth became my go to healing piece and I combined it with nature’s grace for that 1.3 regrowth or 2.5 healing touch big heal. All you had to do was 5/5 imp regrowth (50% chance to crit) and downcast your regrowth spells. With all the plus healing a rank 4 would pump out 1k healing crit plus regrowth tick. Then to save mana you pump out a quickened healing touch.

rogue T0 was insane I never knew. The rogues in my raid was doing garrote vanish garrote openers and the consensus in the guild was that using combo was good only on eviscerate because it was doing bigger numbers. :D
That is why I think it will never be as the old days, because in the old days players were beefs.
Set bonuses were fun back in Vanilla. Sometimes it was better to run a cross between two sets until you had enough for the next set bonus.

Ten Storms (Shaman tier 2) 30% bonus to chain heal past the first bounce. This is BIS even in Naxx gear.

Chain heal is impactful heal in the game. And T2 3 piece is so powerful it'sused for the rest of classic.

one set bonus I thought was very op (in very specific situations) is the blue druid pvp set bonus that gives 15% movements speed when in travel/cat form. So if you make a level 59 druid twink you can get to 55% speed when carrying the flag in WSG which is almost as fast as your mount (you can only get 60% before 60) so you can get free wins in wsg and grind your pvp rating super fast.
Dont confuse OP with gimicky
The 2.5 Paladin Avengers Battlegear set was BEAST: you got tons of hit, critical strike and agility, which gave you tons of armor, dodge and even more critical strike.
We need another regional vanilla tournament! Blacksmith fights are the highest level pvp level 60 has to offer, I love this BG

1:50 Actually the first heal you get at level 1 is not "Heal" but "Lesser Heal" which you won't be using at level 60. Appreciate the videos though!

Fun fact: I came back for WotLK with a three set T2 bonus equipped... and I kept using the T2 until level 78. The bonus to poison damage was just too good.

7/8 netherwind FOR LIFE cuz rag NEVER dropped my pants.
I was server first 5 piece enigma on first Ouro kill though. THAT was a broken bonus.
On spell resist, gain a stacking spell hit bonus? Yeah that was the nuts.
Those 5 pieces and then 3 of Frostfire was pretty dope. I’d weave in rank 1 frostbolts to get resisted to stack the bonus. Good times.
What about druid move speed boost on the rare PVP set? Makes travel form 55% move speed, cat form up to 45% depending on talents.

Although this isnt in vanilla but Tier 3 Paladin to reduce CD of LoH to have a negative CD. This allowed them to spam LoH for a few days till it was patched, think this was during Wrath been ages though.

Lesser Heal is the priest spell available at level 1. Heal doesn't become available until around level 20.

I know you make non stop working on these types of videos and btw love them, but can you do one over the "spells" each class have to use. I seen one today where a warlock was a green ball getting agro then canceled it and was back in his body, safely located away. I'd like to see all caster spells, some seem nutty and websites kind of suck at explaining it.

Bloodvine set bonus for basically every clothie in game when it's released. It's ridiculously good for how easy it is to attain.

Some private servers allow you to roll for spells/abilities from different classes. Like you might have a Warrior that has frostbolt or a Warlock that has stealth. Some combos are fucking insane.
Mage tier 8 piece procs only when you cast AM. It doesn't procc off each hit. That's some private server shenanigans.

There was a bit of a controversy in early vanilla, because rogues who stacked agi (as they do) could easily end up with MORE RANGED AP than a hunter.

i have noticed something playing on private servers and watching streamers play the beta is that a lot of players coming from retail have no idea about stats priority about each class. Understanding why lets say mp5 for shamans is so good may help them differentiate why one item is better than an other.

Best shaman Bonus by a mile is the t2 3 set bonus with 30% more healing on chain heal bounces
shaman tier 2.5 5 set bonus is actually nuts. the itemization isnt the best but the 2 second chain heal is nuts when it comes to pure output for fights like huhoron and pretty much 75% of nax bosses. also you can get the 3 set t2 with it too for even more aoe healing.

Private server are not reliable for these proc things, are they?
They are not reliable at all, private servers do not have all the same values that Vanilla had. One set bonus I know for a fact is true is the Dreadnaught one with the +5% hit chance for taunt and CS, that was huge to have especially once you got to 4Horsemen. Private servers are so trash anyway, like the rogue part where he is in Dire Maul, he sets his health to astronomical number, like really? Let me just make myself invincible and I can solo everything and anything, that's no fun at all, that's like using the invincibility cheat code in old console games, not challenging at all.
fun fact, IF there happens to be 3 hunters in a raid. if 2 wear 8/8 t2, and 1 8/8t1, the t1 hunter will edge out in DPS assuming all other gear and rotations of each hunter are the same. reason being the t2 hunter's 8 piece will benefit the t1 hunter, and the 15% multi shot damage is just too juicy
Or you could run multiple hunters with 8/8 t2 and have the proc refresh itself all the time =)
We had 3 hunters in 8/8 back in the day and the proc rate was quite significant

even w/ 2 t2 hunters, the up-time is nearly 80%.. but reality is, having 3 hunters is ONLY useful on fights needing tranq, otherwise.. bring 1 to soak hunter tier pieces

Hold up.. Netherwind is good because of the 3p bonus - threat reduction, not insta cast haha. Even as a proud owner of the whole set, i rarely ever used it for anything other than the memes. Other items in game are just so much better in the BWL patch and later on, that using full set for pve or pvp is just not worth it. Still a cool vid! Keep it up!

tier 3 is the armour set you get from naxxramas at 60

@@kimmirossi46 its just the ranking of when the armour set came out, which also indirectly defines how powerful it is. T3 is more powerful (statwise at least, so has more stam int agi str etc.. As well as 2ndary stats) than T2. The set bonuses are not always more powerful but in general the stat increase is very noteworthy. Tier is in reference to PvE gear while Season is in reference to PvP gear. The Tier 3 equivalent in PvP is Grand Marshall, they are the last and strongest sets to come out for PvE and PvP respectively during vanilla WoW. This phenomenon will carry over into Burning Crusade with T4 and S1 gear, all the way up to T6 an S4. Usually, an expansion is made up of 3 official Tiers of gear, but there are stepping stone sets that dont have set bonuses which are called things like T5.5 gear for Zul'Aman armour for example. (sorry for including TBC references, im just more familiar with that version)
