Eeeehh... I like BES, it's entertaining. But I started to roll my eyes quite a bit after episode 5 when BES takes a rather nasty wound and fights through it. And then with seemly no time to heal, enters a death trap, takes what should be a crippling wound and down plays it beyond belief. It gets too John Wick 4, watching him get hit by car after car and keep going. It just becomes too unbelievable. And I loose the sense of threat because of course BES is going to make it, because reasons. I mean the end of ep 6 I believe... and start of 7. The apprentice just happening to be there, and how did he know about the Smith?
It's not the same Mulan fought for honor and to save her loving father while Mizu path is one of vengeance and she knows nithing if the love of a parent
@@jonathanbaker4361felt that way too for some portions. if she came off that op from first episode to last it wouldn't have felt as bad. but they show her need to recover here and there but then other times shes super women. its the inconsistency that really took me out. although they do imply shes turning into something else. plus her special sword. maybe the next season will touch on something that makes it make a little more sense. still a pretty legit though in spite of that.
There’s a theory regarding to Mizu, she may not be fully be Japanese, she may have come from London and her real parents must’ve been alive. That’s what Fowler meant.
Blue eyed samurai is based on revenge, completely different than mulan. The only similarity is that they are both women cross dressing as men in historical times.
Both experts of their martial art. Both come to respect a different side of culture through a friendly rivalry with a man. Some scenes even seen influenced. They're definitely different, but you'd be silly to think there are no parallels.
Mulan is China and Mizu is set in a fictional version of Edo Japan. That alone is a massive difference. It's not 100% historically accurate, they made some stylistic choices I assume, but it's kinda authentic. Also Mizu does not want to honor her family. At all. She hates all her potential fathers, she hates her "mom", see episode five and eight and she completely ruined her own adult life. Mizu is constantly the worst character in the show. That is a choice on purpose. Ringo is supportive of her, Taigen has taken a liking to "her", although Taigen is not really someone I would call a good person either. The swordfather never told her to be this way. He was very disappointed with her. She could have been a wife to a former lord but she squandered that as well. She could have even become a lord herself. She throws everything away and pushes everyone away from her. Blue eye Samurai is not like Mulan at all. The similarities are absolute surface level
@requiemagent3014 Surface level similarities are still similarities. No one is claiming they're the same show. And the setting being different is hardly that significant. That's like saying Dances With Wolves and The Last Samurai aren't similar.
Honor? that's cold hearted revenge and that's why we watch. She even has a quote about honor and how she feels about that word she makes it clear it's revenge.
“Both women who entered into a male-dominated profession to horror their family” uh, Mizu’s goal was to end her family and kill her father. Mulan’s goal was to save her father. Bit of a difference. And the cross dressing was a necessity of the times, not just a fun similarity. (Not trying to hate on the video, it just missed characterized a few important points.)
I disagree. In mulan the main focus is that shes a female soldier in a sea of men, while in blue eyed samurai, Mizu´s gender is kinda like a side plot. Instead, the main focus is Mizu´s journey for revenge, something that has nothing to do with her gender. Like if Mizu was a man, the series would pretty much be the same with some minor changes, but if Mulan was a man, there wouldnt be a m ovie
Well with the whole Mizu thinking about kissing Taigan and Taigan literally getting hard when she straddled him, they're probably gonna get together by the end. I think it depends on how they execute it whether I have a problem with it or not. Because yeah, I want Mizu to learn to trust people again and find a purpose in life other than vengeance, happiness. But, I can also see them putting too much sappy/sexual shit in there that it gets ruined, or if their relationship makes Mizu a damsel in distress for the man to save(I just get tired of it). I also want Mizu to still remain a badass, so idk we'll see how it goes
Blue eye samurai is a opposite of mulan Here's the reason: Mulan: Pretending to be man to save her father Mizu: Pretending to be a man to kill her father(she still on her journey) Mulan: Accidentally save the capital of her country Mizu: Accidentally burn and destroy the capital of her country Mulan: Saving a Royal member Mizu: Violating a Royal member
Mizu is not a full on Asian woman. she is half European, it is why she is treated so badly. Cause yea Japan in that time period was rather xenophobic, since the whole plot is about how the 5 major evil white men and women who are hidein in japan might be her farther
Mizu does not want to honor her family. What. She hates all her potential fathers, she hates her "mom", see episode five and eight. See is only out for revenge. By far her biggest character flaw. It kinda ruined her whole adult life. She could have been a lord, she could have been a wife for former lord and Taigen seems to really like "her". She is her own worst enemy
It’s interesting that Ming Na-Wen who played Mulan plays Madame Kaji in this show. Also worth noting that George Takei is Seki in this and was the First Ancestor in Mulan.
Oh you tell me.. put one more manga/comic "Azumi" blue eyes women sword fencer on revange(not at first) and bothe of them have they own unik katana too 😂
I disagree, they are super similar. Even the roof scenes are similar where they both fight their respective enemies. When Mulan fights the leader of the Huns and when Mizu fights Frowler
Also I don't think Mizu will end up with Taigen nor has she romantic feelings for him, (Come on, he's her greatest bully and borderline abuser) their relationship is complex but it doesn't fall into the Romantic aspect, they're enemies turned rivals to reluctant allies, I can see the mutual, honest respect between them turned into SEXUAL attraction, but not love, (Seriously, he has nothing on her but memories of violence, assault and encouragment of suicide, I know they where kids but still)
@@kiarashalaei7746 I've been working on a long video about Mizu for like 2 weeks now. Should be dropping maybe tomorrow or next. Hope you'll watch it 🙂

If Mulan was an R rated movie

Mulan for her father and her family, while Mizu for revenge. Hence one have lighter theme than the other
Mulan’s voice actress Ming Na Wen is also Madame Kaji probably as a nod to that
Realllllyyyy????!
That’s so cool!
Mulan was great but Blue Eyed Samurai was... Something else ♥️💀♥️
not the bondage bro 💀
BDSM Mulan hits different.
Like he really chose the most extreme option he could for that one
NAH, IF HE SHOWED THE OTHER EXAMPLES IT'D BE JUST AS JAW-DROPPING BRO
Also both of the men are gays because they love the boy version of them😅
lol, I guess that's one way to put it.
Facts, I was about to say that😂😂
The nudity killed me💀💀
I would say it’s more like Kill Bill with Mulan aspects
Especially the tower scene. Blades clashing, bodies dropping, limbs flying, blood raining, men crying.
Honor? that's cold hearted revenge and that's why we watch. She even has a quote about honor and how she feels about that word she makes it clear it's revenge.

i doubt blue eye samurai would add a love interest bc a love interest is what ruined wednesday and it just doesn’t fit mizu’s character
Plus we all saw that she doesn't trust love, family nor friends cause, my god her past were the one things that went through that turn.
yea i think she just befriended taigen

Does Mizu Love Taigen? | BLUE EYE SAMURAI
I beg to differ, the show heavily dissects what sex means to Mizu, and that she's denied herself pleasure for revenge, but part of her still needs it.
Madam kaji is voiced by mulans voice actor
I know right, I enjoyed Blue Eye Samurai very much since it's my favorite Netflix animated show as it's so remind me of Disney's Mulan.
Who would have thought that Netflix would produce a Great high Quality anime story and show.
Did you expect songs and a dragon too?? These two are NOT same

Mulan: I fight for my homeland and my family.
Mizu: Fu** off, I want vengeance and I'll get it trought by my katana!

The only thing for me that is the same, is that both are woman hidding in a man identity
Yeah recently watched blue eye samurai and it’s similar to Mulan but more darker. Although Mulan did good, but blue eye samurai is the winner.
When I watching it and she was putting the bandage over her chest I'm like I'm watching Mulan over here.

There is another live action Milan that came out before the Disney live action version

Unlike Mulan, Mizu is an anti-hero. I compare her to other anti-heroes like Spawn (her personality is much closer to Al Simmons than Mulan).
