- Terrain Tamer come on board as our new suspension product partner, so we take a look at what makes their suspension components different! We head over to Revhouse 4WD, to chat to Adrian and install the Parabolic leaf springs, smart coils and a set of heavy duty shock absorders, this is bound to be an interesting experience! Once it's all installed, its time to get all the overlanding accessories back on the Hilux and hit some gravel to see how it all feels! All in all I am excited to get back out on some epic overlanding trips and have some awesome adventures!

Am in zimbabwe i have an amarok i started building it recently because you totally inspired me to build my own tourer ....i will try to match that paint its totally nuts ❤
thats so awesome to hear!
Throughout roam videos absence, I was only worried about the sponsors 😭😭 I'm thankful terrain tamer came along 👌
Great to see your channel back up and running!
Hey, thanks!
Definitely need a price breakdown video of this build 🔥🤝 good job Adrian
round about 40k
One of the best looking Hiluxes out there!
Great to see the channel up and running again. Still my dream to one day have a build of my own. Looking in good health, good job mate.
Wowzers Adrian that Luxy looks awesome. Miles of smiles and ready for that trip.
Will be interesting to see how the new suspension perform.
That Hilux looks really pretty with the new colour
Great to see overlanders, when talking about Suspension they highlight the weight capacity benefits over the amount of lift.
The Hilux v2.0 is looking good. Looking forward to new adventures on it.
Great to see you back in the driving.seat again and hearing the Hilux's throaty exhaust gurgle... Looking forward to your next adventure.
it feels so good to see you back Adrian
Looking great dude. What a set of shocks 💪 look forward to watching your upcoming adventure!
You and me both!
The Hilux in that colour is so beautiful. Great work Adrian.
Really great looking setup and I love the colour. I really enjoy the explanation of the new suspension components and look forward to future feedback.
Congrats on a very watchable program!
Glad you like it!
Looks amazing. Great job. Glad to have you back.
Your rig has to be one of the sickest looking Toyota's out there. The colour is great as well. Now that everything is on....that colour pops big time.
Right on! thanks man!
Glad to see your vehicle back in action. I’ve just installed an Ironman suspension kit in my land cruiser 200 and found it to be even more harsh than the standard suspension. Secondly the nose is still much lower than the rear. Very frustrating to spend that kind of money and not have it feel good.
Why don't these manufacturers just offer a Fox suspension option for Overlanding from the factory.
Missed Roam Overlanding. Great to have you back.
Now the Hilux just needs your logo and it will look sharp as ever, maybe better...
Yes!!! Logo this week!
Nice rig mate , those TT parabolics are becoming popular , good vid :)
🤙 WOW - I learnt a lot on suspension watching this, love their work.
Awesome mate, suspension is next on the list for my ranger.
Terrain Tamer Rules!!!
Rig is looking sweet guy. Well done. Upgrade those rims as well,if possible. Complete revamp
I wish I had the money for that right now; I would love it
Looking Like a dream Adrain!!!! Well done
Holy Toledo ;-) Great Built!
The best Hilux ever, nice job Adrian!👏👏
Thanks! 😃
Looks awesome bud, i am surprised the rear wheel bearing leaked so early in the Hilux life. But the upgrade is Tops🤙
Good job guys.
We need more videos of Suzuki Jimny...
I sold the Suzuki Jimny over a year ago bud!
good to see the rig in such a nice state, and I like this colour scheme.........but I still really liked the Jimny, anyway, keep going on,kid and make us some new expedition videos!!!!!cheers
An incredible job, the hilux looks much better. Have you gained in height, it looks taller? How tall are you with the new suspension+tires? Congratulations and let the adventure continue
I really need those springs but for my rear suspension. My car (again, Hyundai H-1) has springs at the back but they don't seem to handle the full weight very well. Something like that for the back would be really great. Handles well when empty and handles just as well when fully packed ( packed all the way to the car "ceiling" type of fully packed. Rear view mirror useless type of fully packed)
Watching from Philippines 👌🏻
Hilux looks good, love the colour, enjoy
Welcome back Luxxie!
Hello, you can see Ronny Dahl youtube and find there a full body protection for the Hillux. It's like a second skin.
Nice cant whait well done!
Awesome brother
Thanks ✌️
Sad to see the Fox go, woukd be great to hear an indepth comparison from you on the suspension
Indeed, but when one door closes another opens!
@@RoamOverlanding so true!
I really hope there's some extended brake lines in the furure, given how taut the factory ones are when it's on the hoist.
I'd like to get some for sure.
This Terrain Tamer is very nice, but so was the Fox Shocks setup. Why the change?
I have that same question? Way back when the Fox 2.0 was fitted it was the STUFF!
What was wrong with the fox suspension? Why did you change them out?
Looking SWEET :-)
Damnit ... I wanted to be the first commentor. That colour is awesome.
You're the first in my heart
Love from india bro
In the video you describe the smart coils as being the 50 to 100kg model, but I notice it's actually the 100kg+ model that you fit. How have they gone for you? I.e. if you were doing it again would have gone with the same, or a lower spring rate? Is your winch cable or dyneema rope?
Hi Aaron; TT initially gave the 100+ which would have been fine if I had the 2.8; however the 2.4 is actually 60kg’s lighter than the 2.8, so we ended up changing to the 50-100 which is now is pretty close to perfect 👌🏻 the winch is a steel cable but I do want to change it at some point
@@RoamOverlanding I am using 2.8 but i don't have a winch and bumper what smart coils would you recommend for me? i am planning to install them in the near future
Amazing video guys , do you know if air bags are compatible with the parabolic springs
I dont see why not; but the concept of an airbag is counter intuitive to parabolics for me personally, because the parabolics have such great flex, that an airbag would be limiting alot of the downward travel. But if you're really pushing load carrying capacity just rather uprate your leafspring than go airbags in my opinion; but I've never used airbags so what would I know :D
Hey Adrian, What's the lift kit? The Hilux looks so much higher. And congrats, it looks amazing.
its a 40mm; but we realised the coils that arrived for the front were the ones for 100kg+ not the 50-100; so I think its just sitting abit proud up front! The new coils will go in on friday; I cant believe how nicely its driving already; so cant imagine once we get that sorted! haha!
When does it get to the point where the cv axels and rear differential are to weak to support the weight and power to handle all the upgrades. Cause and effect comes into play and snapping an axel or cv is the last thing you want out in the bonduk
As long as your keep the vehicle around rated GVM of the vehicle all the other components will perform as they should.
nice car. Btw, why u didnt install winch?
It has a winch :> its hiding behind the number plate
@@RoamOverlanding Nicee!
Terrain Tamer looks good! ...BUT - what happened to the FOX suspension?? FOX is a big name and certainly not the cheapest on the block! I get the Terrain Tamer concept for the leaf-springs, but what was "wrong" with the FOX system in the front?
Suposedly it can be adjusted to EXACTLY what you need...?
Well, fox and I decided to go our seperate ways, and terrain tamer stepped in as a new product partner for the show. Nothing was wrong with the fox, except the fact we couldn’t get the right front coil’s to suit the vehicle properly, it drove a bit skittish upfront or way too soft
@@RoamOverlanding - ....I thought something like this might have happened...
Looking back at the Fox installation video - I saw Eibach springs go onthe Fox shock-strut. Would Terrain Tamer springs fit the Fox shock-strut?? ...just as a follow on question for those that run Fox and/or chose Fox because they followed you...
I have a 2012 Amarok with a 2" HD-ARB in the front - not the best solution anymore - so very interested in alternatives - Fox is present regionally.... Terrain Tamer seems to be a SA company (NO idea if they are in Central America)....
Are the rear parabolics that much better than the Fox pack??
I put the ARB HD pack on the Amarok (MY fault ordering the wrong thing - these are 400+ kg springs, but I do not have that added load...) and it was impossible to drive.
I took out the overload spring and it became slightly less worse...
Final solution was to put back in the OEM HD pack (5 leafs) and a set of air-bags!! Best of all!!
@@thjakits Terrain tamer is an Australian company; however they have Soouth African distribution. Fox didnt make any of their own springs or leafs. I bought a set of EFS leafsprings to go with it. The parabolics are quite unique and offer a really nice balance of performance and comfort. The 300kg Parabolics would probably be perfect for the amarok and the smart coils are definitely better than the eiibach ones on my vehicle.
Do you have a discount code if we buy a set of Terrain Tamer suspension kit?
unfortunately not!
Hi, if you are interested you can contact us - we are distributors of TT in Gauteng TTG Offroad.
So dit gaan nie oor wat die beste is nie dit gaan oor wat julle verniet of teen n goeie afslag kan kry mooi man. So hoe gaan jan alleman weet wat die beste is?
Jan Alleman, will need to do his research where he can and then try and fail like the rest of us, until you find something that works for you. I cant tell you how the suspension is until I have used it properly.
I'm sorry to tell you, a bunch of people in the Philippines has already painted their HiLux in lunar rock.
The damn Philippines is so ahead of the curve! 😂
@@RoamOverlanding at least in Africa you nailed it!!
Hi Adrian, Frank here, we have opened up the Terrain Tamer distribution in Gauteng, would like to make contact with you regarding products and promotions.
howsit frank, you can pop me a mail on info(at)roamoverlanding(dot)co(dot)za
日本車ですね!いいカスタムですね!
Sure is Japanese!
So what happened with the Fox Suspension? And why did you have to take it off?
Also interested? Fox meant to be the best, priced as the best, there were never any videos saying that is wasent the best ride best flex etx? Was there something wrong with the fox product or is this just aggressive terrain tamer sponsorship? . They have a great aussie product but are working hard to gain market share in sa, and seem to be handing the stuff out to any one with a certain following.
I love terrain tamer stuff, but im so over sponsored reviews. CZcams and Instagram is full of it.
@@justinparkfelt1537 yip, very difficult to get honest reviews when guys are sponsored🤔
Fox pull out of the show during the 3 months the vehicle was inactive getting repaired, we came to an agreement to remove the suspension and go our separate ways. It was a great setup for sure. Terrain Tamer offered to help me out in a difficult situation where I had no suspension in the vehicle; this is not a cheap kit . So far I am INCREDIBLY happy with it and all the support I have gotten from TT. Only time will tell how the kit will handle a FULLY laden vehicle and some tough trails; lets see how it goes. As we speak I am getting ready to leave for an epic journey; so hopefully sooner rather than later, I will giving you feedback on the new setup.
How is this new setup compared to the Fox suspension?
its a bit too soon to compare fully; need to use in more environments. But so far im very impressed
Would you recommend the Fox suspension?
Fox is still good; but im currently leaning more towards the terrain tamer setup as a complete package, with coils and shocks. The ride really is amazing, and well worth looking into. The fact that you can just call someone up and get the full install done without having to mix and match coils and leafsprings is amazing.
Is the current suspension Fox or Terrain Tamer?
It’s Terrain Tamer
I can tell straight away it's extremely stiff and it will be crashing through the bumps.
Turned out we had a 100+ coil instead of the 50-100 Coil; changed it now and its BEAUTIFUL!
Damn pulling all that wihtout sponsors tho - holy fuck. I've dumped so much money in to my landcruiser 100 and I am about to dump same ammount again to have it welded (both frame and body) and painted - SO MUCH MONEY! I dont have that much anymore xD gonna have to let it go - give up on that dream. =(
The new color is sexy
So Fox is gone
yes sir
Super👍🇮🇳
Is fox no good?
Fox Is great; but I think terrain tamer offers a more comprehensive way to upgrade. They have all the different components of suspension, from shocks to control arms and parabolic leaf springs. It’s solid and the ride is fantastic so far 👌🏻
@@RoamOverlanding Thats a relief I’m looking at getting fox 2.0 custom valved to my vehicle with terrain tamers parabolic leafs
Thanks for the reply
that should be a killer setup!
Are you Dutch?
nope; whats makes you say that?
Look at your freakin brake lines on the lift! Don’t hang the whole axle off them like that, strap it to limit droop…
They werent taking the weight by the way; and had plenty of flex in them still. Dont panic, Mechanic!
You channel has turned into an custom equipment and camping products review channel. I see less journey and more products.
You just have to be patient. It’s not as easy to just go in big epic trips all the time when you make money off CZcams; especially after not having a vehicle for 3months because it’s been stripped to pieces. But I leave for a trip on Thursday for a couple weeks.
@@RoamOverlanding I ll look forward for adventures to come.
