    If you make the downspout about six inches longer, it’ll probably work better than narrowing the downspout.
    In Japan, we use this a lot 😊

      that's a good idea! I didn't actually think about that haha. And I really miss being in Japan. Hopefully they open soon so I can visit again. I know they have guided tours but I definitely want to explore by myself.

    Thanks! Someone was asking what this was on Reddit and I had to see it in action!

      Haha no problem. I was really surprised that it worked the first time I saw one.

      @@Big-Wonka right? I also learned that people get really creative making different styles. But I like how you made yours drain into the street instead of letting it flood your property.

    cool, thanks, very pretty and really well explained and demonstrated.

    The chains are to create laminar flow. The only problem is that the gutters already have the water in a turbulent state.

    Don't make the spout narrow there's a large risk of plugging the hole.

    • @Big-Wonka
      @Big-Wonka  Před 3 lety +3

      I also have a mesh basket inside of the gutter that stops debris. I clean it a couple times per year like I did before and it's been working great.

    How does it work when it's windy?
    Thx!❤

      It still works great when it's windy because I have it weighted down in the milk container.

    Does it work on a rainy day + strong wind?

    • @Big-Wonka
      @Big-Wonka  Před 3 měsíci

      I have it secured on the bottom so it can't move. It still works great.

    In every video I see of rain chains the water is splashing all over the place.

    • @Big-Wonka
      @Big-Wonka  Před 5 měsíci

      The bulk runs down the chain, but you'll always have some splash. Really no difference than the rain itself coming down.

    • @galinarou
      @galinarou Před 5 měsíci

      I would think that the splashes would cause extra dampness against the wall ..

    • @Big-Wonka
      @Big-Wonka  Před 5 měsíci

      @galinarou There's no difference between that or splashing when it rains directly on it.

      Haha it's just a nice looking alternative to a normal gutter downspout.

    Not a fan of chains as cups control the splatter much better.

      To each their own. I may still change it one day, but when I did it I was really only thinking about cost.
