well if you mean the piano or his voice if you mean his voice he used to write songs years ahead of time like for example everybody has a dream was released in '77 but he wrote it in '71 therefore I can infer that he used to record his songs earlier so the pitch in his voice makes sense its not degradation over time its his voice captured as it sounded when he recorded probably around 75 because he wrote it in 74 so the orchestra makes sense because he was messing around with the idea of that
