Great interview. I know this area well. Today it's called Athens Village, which is adjacent to West Athens. He's right about the Rolling 130 Pirus, which became 130th Street Athens Park Bloods in the late-1980s. The Fives (135th Street) still fly under the banner of Piru.

He was dropping knowledge on how the State of California exploits inmate labor helping fight fires but he left out the part on how they are unable to be a fireman upon release because they have a felony. I'm glad he spoke on the cocaine/crack disparity because it is why prisons are full of black men who sold crack and are doing long ass sentences while white men who primarily used powder were able to get out of prison earlier leading to a disparity in incarceration rates. Best believe that shit was by design and NOT by accident!
