I have to redo this portion of the test on Wednesday. I passed everything else leading up to this part and then got anxious and starting second guessing myself. Im going to live in the trucks tomorrow and Tuesday and make sure i get it in the alley every single time i try so i feel good and confident.
I trained on a 53 ft trailer with the tandems all the way back, then tested on a 48 ft with the tandems at the Florida line and it felt INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT. With the 53 ft i trained on id line my back tandem up with the cone and my set up was perfect every time but with the 48ft one i tested on it was like i couldn't figure out that sweet spot to line up with the cone and the line and i couldn't find the angle on my landing gear either. Truthfully I'm pretty sure it was 80% test anxiety and 20% overthinking the different trailer.

Quick question... aren't you supposed to stay in between the cone and white line when doing this exercise?

On the forward offset tracking yes. On the reverse offset backing back into the alley - NO ( but you will be near it )

You don’t have to stay between them throughout the whole skill test, but when you’re pulling out to line yourself up your back trailer wheels do have to pass between the line and cone

my school has me learning on a short 30 foot trailer i failed once already, does that make any difference to a long trailer or does the info apply to all?

With a shorter trailer you don’t have to be that close to the rear cone entering the alley. Smaller trailer reacts much faster but is easier to this skill than a 53 foot trailer. You will get it with practice. Keep this channel informed of your progress
