Baking soda and vinegar! Make a thick paste of baking soda and water. Smear it all over the inside of the cold oven and let it sit for a few hours. I usually do this the night before and let it sit overnight. Then use hot soapy water and rinse all the soda paste off. It should bring all the grime and gunk with it. Then spray on a vinegar and water solution and wipe it off with a damp cloth. For the outside, hot soapy water and a clean cloth should do the job. Do the racks in the sink or bath with hot water and dish soap. Scrub with a scourer and rinse clean with hot water. This is an easy to do method that does not use aggressive chemicals.

I dont know if I should be more offended about how easy it is to clean or how absolutely filthy all our things are! Thanks to this channel my future apartment is gonna look amazing
Melissa I don’t know if you have done something like this, but one quick ask: Please do a video on cleaning an apartment or home where the people before you either did not clean...ever, or the landlord used a cleaning service, but things are still not clean. Stoves, ovens, carpets floors, etc (a.k.a. Everything!).i have helped my daughters move into places like this and it has been overwhelming! I would love to have a video, or videos on how to deep clean something your loved ones are moving into. Thanks, love your microfiber clothes. I have many of them and am constantly gifting them to loved ones.
This is actually a really common problem for those who don’t know how “to adult” or mentally underdeveloped or was never taught by a healthy family how to care for themselves
Also, can you make a video on the tools you need to clean your whole apartment, like everything you need for bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I think it would be super helpful!!! Like sponges and brooms, etc... How to clean ceiling fans and lights please!!!
My favorite way to clean an oven: sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda in the bottom, completely covering any burned on gunk. Then make a thick paste of baking soda and a little water, just enough to make it sticky. Then spread that onto the sides and top of the oven with a sponge. Do this on the inside of the door, too. Next fill a spray bottle with full-strength vinegar and spray all the baking soda to make it bubble. I love that effect! Close the oven and leave it overnight. The next morning everything wipes clean with paper towels. It’s amazing! I would replace my electric stove with a gas one! I much prefer cooking with gas! Thanks for all your wonderful videos!
Great tip! I like to do the baking soda and vinegar 'volcano' with drains - especially fun to do with grandkids! Flush with hot water afterwards and you're good to go!
Just when I was about to do a complete cleaning job of my entire kitchen, you come out with this video. Thank you, so much! I never thought I'd subscribe to a cleaning channel, let alone get addicted to one, but both your incredible personality and amazing cleaning tips have gotten me to not only subscribe, but gotten me hooked on your videos! I'm so glad I found your channel!
I’ve recently created a housework schedule, and so far it’s working pretty well. I’ve watched enough of your videos to know that’s not your jam, but it works for me: By end of week all is covered. True test of efficacy: a lady from my church came over w/o prior “warning” and I was so happy and proud to invite her in!!
I love these videos because my parents get on my butt about cleaning, but I was never actually taught how to clean. So every time I do, it’s never good enough for them.
So happy I found your channel Melissa!! I've been wanting to live a more cleaner, minimalistic, food and time-saving lifestyle and I'm learning SO much from you thank you!!❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have a self-cleaning oven. You take the racks out then hit the self-cleaning button. It locks the oven door and gets super hot and turns everything to a little ash that you wipe out after it cools down. Unfortunately it stinks up the house. I had all the house windows open and my pets and I had so much trouble breathing because of the incredible fumes. It didn’t say anything about having to leave the house. I cancelled it after one hour and it was almost completely clean. I will not use it again so now I need to know how to clean it. Easy off gives me breathing issues too so I’m looking into vinegar or baking soda.
Elizabeth Langheim I have a self-cleaning Bosch oven. I love it. It was well worth spending the extra $200 that it cost. I have had it for 11 years. I don’t have a problem with smell while using the self-clean function.
I have been told that using the self-cleaning setting on the oven will ruin the thermostat. I didn't believe it until my mom moved into a home that the previous owner had used it. Her oven is whacked out.
Thank you so much for teaching us. It's so precious. Nobody knows what to use , how to use. I learned from you a lot. I like cleaning and love your videos. You saved my life. Thank you.
Hi Melissa! Yes! I'd LOVE to see a video on cleaning a non self-cleaning oven. It's the final challenge I have currently in my new place. Your content has been amazingly valuable for learning how to deep clean a unit I was taking over as-is!
I have watched more than 10 videos on deep cleaning, but yours stood out for using everyday and affordable materials, and offering a highly effective solution. Thank you.
Who cleans the house wearing a nice crisp white button down shirt? YOU 😂 And you make cleaning look soooooo glamorous, I love it! ❤ Thanks for these tips!
No idea why, But Having your videoes in the background while I work, makes me less stressed xD And an obvious bonus; When I'm done, I have so much cleaning inspiration :D I love it.
I already "achieved" a crucial upgrade. The Frigidaire dishwasher that came with my apartment conked out. For over a year, we just bit the bullet and hand-washed our dishes. Last fall, during Cyber Monday, we splurged for a KitchenAid dishwasher and it has been a delight! So quiet and efficient. Don't put up with things you dislike, if you can help it!
My upgrade was an instant hot water faucet. I just wish I had bought this years ago. Not only do I use it to make tea but for cooking veggies that start with hot water, so sterilizing knives after they are wiped off and for warming up cooling water etc. I love it.
Thanks! Great tips! One thing you left out. Cut the power to the oven/stove/microwave before working in it. Pull the plug on the toaster. That way if there's a moment of clumsiness and a container with liquid get spilled, everyone lives : - )
Yes, me too! I was so disappointed it wasn't included. That was the main reason I watched. I did put the racks in the tub though and they were so easy to clean.
PLug all of the vents and place a cup of ammonia on the bottom and pour boiling water in a separate bowl in the oven, Close the door and leave it overnight. In the morning you should be able to wipe out most of the gunk with a wet cloth. Next time something boils over in the oven sprinkle it with a good amount of salt and allow it to cool. Lazy oven maintenance.
Really helpful info. It gives me motivation to focus on a few things in my kitchen. I would say I would do more research on fume hoods, ours is really hard to clean with hard to reach corners. But it was part of the kitchen design we bought so didn’t think to question maintence. Nice is that our appliances have been working great for 16 years so hope they keep going :😊
Always so many great suggestions! Thanks Melissa I sometimes just use bottled lemon juice or the plastic shaped lemon juice, in a bowl of water to steam up the inside of my microwave. I find it works just as well as using a whole lemon. You can take that whole lemon and add salt to it to remove water stains from your faucets. 😘 I had some hard water buildup around the faucet nozzle and the lemon and salt dissolved it in no time. I add a tiny splash of bleach to my dishwasher wash cycle after its filled up with water. I have been doing it for years and it keeps my dishwasher smelling clean as well as sanitizing my dishes and removing any stuck on stains, including teacup and coffee cup stains. It helps keep my white and clear glass dishes looking shiny.
Yes please to the oven videos! For my oven racks I put them in the dishwasher on a hot cycle with half a jug of vinegar at the top, and the grease slid off after with a microfibre cloth!! I would love to upgrade my oven, we have an electric top but I would love a gas top (that would be a whole new cleaning experience!)
Just a word of warning with a self cleaning oven. I cook all of my family's meals and use the oven ALL THE TIME. So I would use the self cleaning function of the oven to keep it clean. One day I was getting dinner in the oven, went to check on it, and it was stone cold. No, I had not forgotten to turn the oven on. The self cleaning that I'd done earlier in the day had burned something up in the oven so it would not work anymore. When I was having it repaired, the repairman said not to use the self cleaning feature because my oven was inside a wall cabinet (not a standalone oven / stove combination) and there wasn't enough ventilation to keep the electrical components cool. The repairman said he did more repairs after a self clean than he could count. Just passing that information along!
That has happened to me twice! The first time I thought it was a fluke the second time was the last time I used my self cleaning oven in a wall cabinet! A very costly clean
Yes, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a cleaning video on a NON self cleaning oven too! Because my apartment has one and I’ve never had to clean an oven...period! So I’m nervous 😬
Here are some of my tips for cleaning: use swiffer cloths to dust surfaces before you apply a wet solution. Most of the dirt that you will encounter is basically dust. So again do not apply a wet solution to a surface until you use a swiffer to pick up the dust. Another little tip I use so that I do not have to clean out the refrigerator is to apply Glad press and seal sheets to the glass shelves. This way you can just remove them when they get dirty. At lastly, buy dawn dish washing detergent. It is a degreaser. I just add a little to a spray bottle and then mix the rest with water.
I find cleaning my entire fridge at one go very tedious and overwhelming. Now i do one or two shelves per time. Easy to tackle and the fridge is always looking clean.
I bought a countertop dishwasher and it was definately a game changer. Now I'm willing to spend more time cooking and baking if I don't have to wash the dishes. Still have to hand wash the big stuff though. It was worth every nickle.
I think you are the only professional i have seen so far that like self cleaning ovens! I love it! Most people say they are too dangerous and blah blah blah....I love it though cause you can just wipe it down after it cools.
I used the kettle trick (from your older video which included it) last month and boy, my kettle was like brand new. I have since raved about this tip to my family who also use kettles regularly, because I think it can often be forgotten. Given the world situation, I have had time to do deep cleans of almost every room in the home, and I have never used more baking soda in my life. It is now a staple in my regime.
Also, I didn't even know self cleaning ovens existed (I have never had one in my home, nor does anyone I know have one). But I would love tips and tricks because the oven is the one task in my kitchen I dread.
Can you make a video for those of us with the old school gas stoves w wire racks? 😳 It’s the only overwhelming thing in my house. Around the burners are my biggest nightmare!
I took cleaning tips from u Melissa . I like ur cleaning videos . I learned so much stuff about cleaning such as bathroom , decluttering , bedroom , such as the 3 wave system , now the kitchen , and more room cleaning . But including washing Machine too.
Definitely want to see how to do a self-cleaning one. I’m scared to use it, & our smoke alarm goes off all the time whenever we cook bacon in it. 😂 🔥 🥓
Same here! Please help us clean our self-cleaning ovens. (Odd that when I downloaded my stove/oven directions, it said to turn it on and it will start. It does not. My other self-cleaning oven did not clean when I 'turned it on' either. Different manufacturers, same lack of info.)
How about cars?? I really want to clean and sanitize my car but don't know what to use. I dont want to leave those weird "clean spots" or have the fabric/ material ruined.
Bachelor in my 30s and I just bought a house and so glad i found this channel. I know how to care for the yard and building, underestimated how fast a house could collect dust and dirt compared to an apartment. Thanks for the tips.
Please do a video about how to deep clean a gas oven. My upgrade would be the stove/oven because I'd rather have an electric self cleaning one and the dishwasher because this one occasionally leaks.
Your's could be a different problem entirely, but I noticed on my dishwasher if I'm not really careful to make sure the inside racks are pushed in well, it will leak.
Any time I use vinegar to clean the coffee maker or tea pot (once a month) I dump the baking soda from the fridge down the kitchen drain followed by the hot vinegar then I replace the baking soda in the fridge.
it's interesting to see you clean so much with just water and dish soap. i have been feeling like i had to buy specific products for everything. but i wanted to also thank you for 2 things! 1) for telling me the knobs on my stove are removable. I always try to squeeze the cloth up under them to get gunk but you just revealed a whole new world to me! and 2) the exhaust fan filter... i have never cleaned mine! now i'm afraid to look at it but it is on the cleaning agenda now!
Cleaning question: I moved into a 25 year old house and I'm certain that the tops of the kitchen cabinets were never cleaned. There is a thick layer of orange, sticky, greasy, filmy, sludge up there. I have tried various cleaners (dish soap, degreaser, scrapers, even windshield washer fluid on the advice of a cleaning lady) with little luck lifting off this sludge. Do you have any advice on how to clean it up? Thanks!
Have you tried Awesome degreaser? I used it for this same purpose. I sprayed it on there and let it sit for about 10 min. Then sprayed again and used one of those thin, green, scrubbing sponges to get it all off. When it was off I sprayed it with a normal kitchen cleaner and wiped it clean with a microfiber cloth. Not sure if you were looking for a more natural option but i hope this is helpful.
@@George_uh_Glass I've never tried that! I looked online at a few Canadian retailers and it isn't available. It is on amazon.ca but its $48! I don't think its a viable option right now :(
Grease can be lifted with grease. Take a vegetable oil (e.g. sunflower oil) and baking soda. Make a paste out of it and scrub with a sponge. Let sit for 10 minutes and scrub away. It should be come right off. You can also put a little bit of dish soap into the paste as well if the grease is really thick and hard to remove just as just said. It takes some elbow grease (no pun intended 😅) but you’ll be able to remove it 💪🏻 Hope that helps 😊
I’ve been binge-watching your cleaning videos and i like the idea of making my own cleaning sprays for different uses. I’m wondering if you have all the recipes in one place :) i can’t remember them all 😅 great videos and great tips! :) thank you
You hit the nail on the head about cleaning a self cleaning oven. I am so scared to do it. So please do a video on how to....Never had one like this before. I always learned to pour salt heavy on a soiled spot on the oven floor and I was always lucky enough to be able to clean an oven very easily. Hope it is soon. I am staying home again here in Texas since our numbers have gone out of site again. My upgrade would have been a new dishwasher. I actually ordered one, paid for it and the factory hasn't delivered it to the store. It was two months of waiting, So I gave up. My vacuum gave up & I used some of the money for a new stick vacuum. Thanks so much.

That’s a great idea 💡
Yes please - I have a NON-self-cleaning oven and would love your help to get it clean again!
Yep, same. When I moved into my rental it hadn't been cleaned for a long time and I tried 3 separate time to clean it (with oven cleaners, hardcore scrubbies etc.) and NOTHING has gotten the baked-on crap off the oven or the glass window. I swear I heard faint laughter coming from the oven itself when i watched some YT tutorials that recommended baking soda. At this point I'm 85% sure literally nothing will clean it but would very much love to be wrong.
I make a paste of baking soda and dishsoap for the oven. Works like magic, when I moved into my current flat the oven was in bad condition, but it came out looking like new and also the weird greasy smell was gone.
Agreed. And I Don’t have a bathtub so another trick would be nice. For Now I spray it down with Green cilit bang and ”svinto” to rub of the worst.
Baking soda and Vinager ^^ best.

Yes update on anything that you have changed or upgraded within the previous years to now..helps. Your awesome!
Swiffer cloths may clean your house but not good from our larger home…Mother Earth 🌍
PLEASE do another self-clean oven cleaning video!! Would be much appreciated.
This was very helpful! Thanks so much :)
i LOVE your videos so much! i have ocd and the way i clean is too similar to the cleaning tips you show it makes me feel validated in a way
I find cleaning my entire fridge at one go very tedious and overwhelming. Now i do one or two shelves per time. Easy to tackle and the fridge is always looking clean.
That's what I do too. I use a paper towel soaked in white vinegar...antibacterial.
Good idea
I have a non self cleaning oven and would love to see a video on how to clean it properly please! 😃🇦🇺
I do a deep cleaning almost every day, so my home can be spotless, tysm for all ur videos, it helps us A LOT ✨
You are very energetic
I love all of your videos Thankyou so much for posting them. Beverley👍😍
I work really well when I have intervals. How often do you recommend cleaning each of these areas?
I’d like to upgrade my dishwasher from myself to an actual dishwasher 😂
I feel you on that. I didn't get my first dishwasher until I was 40, and I'm 42. 😩 It's coming!
I think all woman are in with this one

I bought a countertop dishwasher and it was definately a game changer. Now I'm willing to spend more time cooking and baking if I don't have to wash the dishes. Still have to hand wash the big stuff though. It was worth every nickle.
I think you are the only professional i have seen so far that like self cleaning ovens! I love it! Most people say they are too dangerous and blah blah blah....I love it though cause you can just wipe it down after it cools.
yes, we need the self-cleaning oven clean up, please!
Would love to see a tutorial on how to clean a self cleaning oven.
I use baskets in the fridge. It corrals like jars and keeps the shelves much cleaner.
I use baskets, too, Jeanine!
And a few fridge organisers.
I would like to update my kitchen counters and update my refrigerator.
I am so glad that I found you on ‘utube’, I really enjoy your videos 😃
I used the kettle trick (from your older video which included it) last month and boy, my kettle was like brand new. I have since raved about this tip to my family who also use kettles regularly, because I think it can often be forgotten.
Given the world situation, I have had time to do deep cleans of almost every room in the home, and I have never used more baking soda in my life. It is now a staple in my regime.
Also, I didn't even know self cleaning ovens existed (I have never had one in my home, nor does anyone I know have one). But I would love tips and tricks because the oven is the one task in my kitchen I dread.
An updated video on how to make a daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule would be awesome!! 😄
Yes to that non-self cleaning oven video!
Would love to replace my range more than anything else. Thanks so much for the tips!
Great video very inspiring and helpful tips
Cleaned my microwave like that only without lemon it worked perfect
Can you make a video for those of us with the old school gas stoves w wire racks? 😳 It’s the only overwhelming thing in my house. Around the burners are my biggest nightmare!
Me too!
I took cleaning tips from u Melissa . I like ur cleaning videos . I learned so much stuff about cleaning such as bathroom , decluttering , bedroom , such as the 3 wave system , now the kitchen , and more room cleaning . But including washing Machine too.
Unbelievable. Awesome. The Best on how to clean your kitchen.
1000% need the non self cleaning oven video please!
Yessss...to updated oven video. Please and thank you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your tips and show 👍🏻 Did you know you can put all refrigerater shelves and parts in dishwasher? Gets them really clean!
Is there an app you recommend for keeping track of household chores? (Or perhaps you could make on for us 😇)
The secret slob has free printable on her channel and website. Both blank and populated for ideas. Super helpful as a starter for 10.
How about cars?? I really want to clean and sanitize my car but don't know what to use. I dont want to leave those weird "clean spots" or have the fabric/ material ruined.
You should check out ammo NYC for car detailing dips. He’s a germphobe hah
Melissa has videos on car cleaning. If you want quality work - The Detail Geek!
Yes I’d like to know your options on removing bird poop from your car? If you have any diy concoctions that would do the trick would love to know 👍🏼

Thank you for your advice to clean the kitchen
Yesss, a oven cleaning video. I need that so much. A non self cleaning oven.
it's interesting to see you clean so much with just water and dish soap. i have been feeling like i had to buy specific products for everything. but i wanted to also thank you for 2 things!

I'm so lazy to clean
I have the mentality that most ppl's homes r naturally clean lol
Hahaha 😂 they probably clean before you get there.
I’ve been binge-watching your cleaning videos and i like the idea of making my own cleaning sprays for different uses. I’m wondering if you have all the recipes in one place :) i can’t remember them all 😅 great videos and great tips! :) thank you
Yes please please please!!!!! A very throughall video on a non self cleaning oven! We totalllly need it from your expertise!! ❤️❤️💋❤️💋❤️❤️
I'm interesting in a non-self cleaning oven video.
If price were no object, I would love to upgrade my kitchen with you!
Love to see how to clean the shelves in a self cleaning oven thanks
