- ** After taping up some bags, found a few that even I couldn't tape! Haha So we are on our way down to pick some up and move them into bins.
** We also quickly realized that they are NOT picking up well, and the reason why is due to they are just barely dry from harvest. Also the they are chickpeas which means, they won't go away with out a challenge đ€Łđ€Šââïž

I figured it out. Mike is really an undercover agent for the grain bin industry. His job is make grain bags look like a pain in the ass. You got me convinced.
I was thinking the same thing. Bins are expensive up front, but last years and I would sure rather sweep out a few bins than do this all day. Also, what happens to the plastic? is that just waste material when it's done or does it get recycled? Most of a bin can be recycled when it is at the end of it's life cycle.
@@999pr1 Cheaper than paying taxes and selling for low prices (aka break even maybe). We built a ton of bins just to store until prices raise. It can just sit all year. Ours has to be dried, anyway. It can still be a jungle come harvest.
We carry a mini torch in our skid steer to heat up those couplers do they donât pop out. Love the videos
Man what a crew! Having a good time and getting along with everyone at work makes work not seem like work. Even better when you do what you love.
Thats one of the best thing about you guys. When there's work to be done, everyone just jumps in to do it and it gets done faster and its easier on everyone. No one is afraid of a shovel or getting dirty. That's what I like to see!Stay warm guys!
God bless our farmers and the crap they put up with!
Watching Mike and the crew work... avoiding going outside to shovel snow...
that orange hoodie have seen better days, best character this guy by far
đ That hoodie (âbunny hugâ in Saskatchewan speak) has rolled the odometer over a couple of times, for sure.
Mike the best thing I have found in 15 years using wabasto engine heaters is to set a timer for once per week all year for 30 min. It keeps the pump working and ignition system from catering up.
I must have watched the hand signals back 50 times and i just kept laughting. Cause i know them from myself
Yâall need to come down here and collect your weather.
Hahah we just wanted to share đ
@@mikemitchell2554 itâs the neighbourly thing to do... đ€«
Weâd say sorry, but really, we arenât.
@Mike Mitchell Like a good nabior Canada had to share there weather haha
That'll teach us for canceling the Pipeline.đđđ
I was feeling sorry for myself for staying at the home base this winter . Between -15 and -25 C , bunch of AdBlue related problems which are really beginning to get on my nerves . 2 Covid tests because I got in contact with carriers of the virus but than I see you people handling those bags and I must admit that if I had to do this 60 / 70 times I would not be a very happy person . Respect.
Grain bags don't plug up like a grain bin can, so there's that.
WEBASTO lol and you need to cycle them year around even in the summer that will help you out alot.....
That goes for espar also. You should run the systems every month. And if you know you are not going to use them (warm out) plug exaust to keep dust, bugs ect out. Little thing's will save you time in end. But they will all fail
@@reiddelamare8621
Mike and his WABASKO's lol đ
I'm finally glad to see you got some help on those bagsđđ
Amazing! Thank you for sharing this. Couldn't stop watching. You are a very kind man.
Clear tint film the window. When it blows out, the film catches the glass
In Montana, the grizzly bears have found that my bags are easy open containers too.
Safety first operation đđ»đđ»đđ»as the PTO shaft cover spins merrily away because no SAFETY CHAIN ATTACHED... Come on Micheal sort it out boy...
Helps if you understand how a pto cover works :)
@@farmcentralohio certainly ainât meant to spin around that what the check chains are for...đđ»
Yeah when you do it all the time some of the minor details get lost..lol it has a cover good enough! Trick is not to grab or stand on the PTO, and if you do you don't belong on a farm anyways..youll only do it once i bet
"Pop it in the brown" that's what she said
Hahahahahaha. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Lmao
Nice.
The Webaso heaters are actually better off the more they run, even in the summer mornings, run them sometimes and they will not cause trouble. Not using them is the issue...
You are exactly right, worked on many on semi tractors, more often used, way more reliable. If Webaso not used in summer, had to take apart & fix burner issues, not fun. They are a very high maintenance cost of ownership, when work are great, but constant maintenance is required.
Iâve only had a couple on trucks. I used it every time the trucks were going to work. Summer and winter. Both were trouble free for over a 1000 hours of use. After that many hours I just replaced when they started giving trouble. If not used often they seem to act up. I would certainly buy them again.
Would love to see Mikeâs 1105 on a bagger!
In South Africa none of our equipments has def not even the new one's.
luuuuuuuckkkkkyyyyyyyy! although a hippie would say otherwise.
That would be a dream
Just rip it all off. Most folks here in the south just rip all that epa junk off when they get the new units.
One of the Coop card lock up here in saskatoon, had both their def pumps pop in the -50 the other day. 100 feet of def everywhere
That would be a mess
Yeah they we there for 8 hours scraping it up
I'll give you a tip when you connect or disconnect devices. Pack the hydraulics in the floating position
Pro tip. Run your webasto at least weekly for an hour or 2. Regardless if it's cold. It won't hurt anything. But keeps it clean and running correctly
Had a good laugh when I seen the overloaded truck . How many of us farmers say well get it all in and then NO 20 to 50 bushels left wethers its a bag or a bin. Been there many times lol
Glad it went good as it was. So cold out there đ€§, felt bad for you guys. God bless
Man that's freezing, an the wind just cuts threw ya. Thanks for sharing mike
The birds and little critters won't be going hungry.
Been working as a Case dealer tech for 5yrs and farm mechanic 5yrs prior to that. The only equipment windows ive come across that are âlaminatedâ seem to be swather/chopper/combine cab curved windows (front-rear) theyâll break but not fall out/apart just like your car/pickup. I have yet to come across a Tractor with factory laminated windshield/rear. And I have replaced many a door/window. An option if youre still afraid would be to have window tint applied to the windshield either in a dark film or clear solar/heat rejection film thatâll prevent it from completely falling apart but the window would still have to be replaced immediately due to the tempered glass shattering throughout the window. Just my 2 Âą
That tractors got more electronics then a farm tractor needs. Looks nice to drive and operate though.
Convinced me, never buy into a bagging system.
Well its better than a pile
Those Fendts really are the nicest looking (and quietest) tractors on the market, but gawddamn, do they ever seem like finicky maintenance hogs.
I think your wrong there, Iâve been in a new one and it wasnât very quiet đ
Wow, farm tractors have really went high tech since I was a teen working for the local farmers. That hydraulic setup is sweet. Those Fendt tractors are used exclusively here in central PA to haul liquid manure in huge spreaders, I swear they cab do 40mph..
Yeah that way when it fails you can not fix it
23:25 that is a proud man right there
You guys are making me want to put air horns on all our tractors đ
Mike, go for the Planar heaters. Made in Russia, sold by a Canadian outfit.
Best wishes all, stay safe.
Good job Mike.We have your weather in west Texas today.
That was a fine airhorn jump.
Maybe the Bag maker should add a bitterant to the outside the bag that taste really bad to vermin. It seems it should be easy to do. Maybe mike could add it to a sprayer and cover the bag after it's full.
That wouldn't stop the deer from walking and punching holes in the bag, then eating the grain.
Yay Franco, what a great guy.đ
Hi Mike - greetings from Oxfordshire - UK - always interesting content
What a struggle when the wildlife damages a bag that bad! You take care!
still think you need a JCB Fastrac for all that road work (and you can put a loader on them) 50 mph đ
As long as you have lots of very good local dealer support
They're bit hit and miss and can be very hard to fault find
It looks like that tractor has some nice suspension.
Don't know if it's common around your area but here in Sweden and Europe we use nets over bagged silage. It will at least prevent birds, fox and racoons to make holes. Put up some soil every some meters to ceep it stil on windy days
The wildlife need to eat too lol
I am a Webasto engineer...acutally those things are validated to last several thousands of burning hours.
Maybe they are locked because your battery was low?
And it is not good to let them rest half a year. Switch them on from time to time in the spring/summer...it makes them last longer.
If you got questions, get in contact with me.
Great video Mike good luck picking up your chickpea bags
Mike, I think from the Midwest we need to give you a shoveling lesson. Keep up the work, we love your stories.
You need to buy those boys some new jackets
Right đ
If you have trouble with the Webascoâs you should try out the Webastoâs instead đ
Hahaha đđđ
Iâm 12 i used to live on a farm but not anymore :( i used to drive the tractors, and load bales onto a truck with a wheel loader. I miss those days. (I was around 6 when i did this!)
I work at a shop in Saskatoon and we are a dealer for webasto, espar, and pro heat. Those engine heaters we recommend runing for an hour atleast 1 once a month even in summer months or else they fill up with dust and dirt and cause issues.
Thank god the temp is going to be back to -5, zero, -5 again at the end of the weekend. Iâve had enough of this. Tired of tractors and vehicles not starting
Try firing up your webastoâs/proheats at least a month. I was told when they sit they get gummed up. Worth a shot. No problems with ours on an ISX. đ€
I have had similar experiences so far. Once I stopped firing them up every other month (including summer) things started to break. But with firing it up every other month there was never a problem!
@@frittenmc exactly right. Even in the summer months fire it up and let it do itâs thing.
-31, -41 windchill, right now here Gilbert Plains MB, considered warming-up from the last week or so, ha!!
Iâm sure the last 200 wouldâve fit in the back of the pickups
yeah toss a chunk of bag in the bed and fill her up lol
Great video Mike.
Good morning Mike. Kudos to you and your hard working crew. That was a hard, miserable day for you all. I hope you all had a great hot meal for dinner.. You deserved it â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
The webasto need to be used or have issues . I had my timer set to run for 30 minutes every week even in the summer have over 5 years on it with no issues. Thatâs what was told to do by the dealers and worked good.
Mike, when you get one of those holes you canât tape up why not cut a piece of plastic off an old bag and use it as a patch and just tape around the edges?
You could yes, I my self prefer just tape, I couldn't be bothered to be honest to measure, cut and tape a peice of bag to the bag.. Neverind I would have to carry that with me also.. Just user preferences I guess đ€·đŒââïžđ
Also, once you patch the holes, they normally there by the end of the week forsure đ€Ł
Wow, your weather is really fluxuating worse than here!
Who decides who gets to sit in the warm tractor and who works the shovels?? đđ
common sense, if there is 4-5 guys working outside and getting the job done good i dont think its necessary for one guy to go messing with them.
Staying active is the best way to stay warm.
Worked outside in the cold most my life year round.
They take turns each day, whomever owns the farm that day gets the warm cab... seems fair lol
Yep your hand signals are very similar to ours
After a day like that i don't think i would be asking any questions.
I know how it is to do a day on a open station machine at -15 with a nice feesh breeze.
Going a bit bonkers is included by default without anything going wrong on the job.
It should be all the windows
yeah id be wearing a balaclava, my nose gets frozen too easy. good vid thanks.
Get'er done boys đđ
You have a great crew. Time for a big steak and potatoes.
Haha I agree!
Agree
That old Massey would be perfect for an extractor unit. Just needs a good heater and a high road gear!
Hahahaaaa! Fancy!!!!!!!=
we were hauling Wheat & greens peas all week. the field was SOUP the past 3 days with warm temps in Biggar, sask
I enjoy watching your video's Mike. I live in Frederick Oklahoma we dont get the cold weather y'all get..đđ
am i the only one tha joust want to watch him drive tha tractor down a dirt rode wile it snowy outside?? i like to request a no cut vertion of the drive from the farm to the bags :-D
Great video
You got one tough and fun crew
The last time I drove a fendt I believe we had continually been replacing seals on the hydraulic couplers and that's why they would pop out as well
Yeah it's cold here, but it's not as cold as you guys... good luck and protect yourselfs!
Fs 22 do be looking good tho
If Bayou in Louisiana is frozen and Texas Galveston has blizzard, I can't imagine how cold it is in Canada.
normal minus twenty to thirty, but it's dry cold
Hi Mike. With the bag damage so bad in this field, will you not store bags here again?
Those fendt's are quick đđŒ
Hey Mike, hello from Austria :-) 31.07 pay your employees a little more, look at the cloths they are wearing. completely torn!!
I feel your pain. Been there done that
SE Sask farmer hand signals line up with SW Sask signals... :-)
You could try a couple hydraulic hoses coupled to the heater hoses between a pickup and the the tractor or whatever you want to starting. Just a thought.
Must be a way to build a big barn for pea storage.
About the webastco's, what I heard, you have them running every week for +/- 15 minutes. Even by +30C in the summer.
If you change antifreese, prime the webastco!
Us Canadians are tough. Working in the cold with our jackets wide open. I do the same thing too sometimes!!!
You guys have to livestream in a grain vac. I know you donât like them but they are a game saver
17th of feb i was emptying a bag in 40 Degree heat in australia and our biggest problem was keeping the bag from splitting from one end to the other ,somewhere in between your cold and my heat would be perfect
Ya we jus got that little snow 12 inches ....
I've been in farm all my life im52 an for first time in getting a new fendt I'll be getting in few weeks I'll show you I think you well love it
You need to use that Webasto heater. Webasto or any other fuel heater needs to be used year round. Even in summer you should start it up few times just to put fresh fuel in it and burn off gunk that accumulates there.
Oh.. I wasn't aware it was that high maintenance, but that's good to know, thanks!
@@mikemitchell2554 Run it once or twice a month year round for about 30 minutes or so and you are fine.
30:28 You need to give these poor guys a raise, so they can afford new clothes soon. Their clothes have bigger holes than the grain bags has. Haha
đ€Ł The clothes are just nicely broke in tho!
@@mikemitchell2554 hello mike
I want to know how many hours did you do with 720 in a year. I am from Slovenia in Europe.
Thanks you are great.
Its because you dont use the webastos much is why your having issues. Program them to run 3 times a week year round or more and they will run forever. The extended periods of sitting with the diesel sitting is enough to kill those things everytime
hi mike .i like your attitude .and also i am impressed by how huge the farm is . how many folks are employed on the farm .all the best from denmartk
that when you pick up a bag in 1 day
Daughter of my dad's frind got a new 516 after she got her driving license since they didn't have any tractors driving 40km/h and in germany when you are under the age of 18 u only allowed to drive 40km/h. They could have just made one of their other tractors drive 40 km/h but no, she got her own 516
Need Brianâs tractor with fancy blade & snow blower which certainly would be OVERKILL
