seems like it has all the normal issues that come with Figuarts but the size makes the normal issues into major issues.
Finally an honest review for this figure, at this point I can only trust you. I stupidly bought shf Griffith after multiple reviews (before yours came out) which said it was amazing and it turned out to be my worst figure of the year.
You know you can trust me to tell it how it is.

I have the figure. The tail will connect and hold tightly, but you must push it hard until it clicks into place. There will be no gap when it's on correctly.
I pushed reasonably hard. So even if that is the case, it shouldn't take that much force.
Yeah my tail seems to connect fine and work as a support, it’s been able to hold the weight of the figure with a cape just fine, even when the cape isn’t resting on the body, sort of in the air a lil (cape was a pain in the butt to attach tho) I agree the tail should’ve been solid tho, the part that connects to the body doesn’t move whatsoever and the other tail joints are pretty useless.
Now this is a review I was looking forward to
I think base form Kaido would've worked out better since he has regular legs, maybe someone could make a custom of that
You should review the sh Figuarts berserker armor guts. It has a lot of improvements from the normal guts figure

Anthony do you know how to tighten a loose drop down joint. My mafex batmans left drop down is loose and the ball that connects the leg is tight, how do you tighten it?
you cant really do much for a joint like that. one of the reasons they shouldnt be used in the first place...and theyre almost always loose
Ive seen some people drip polish into the pin
My Mafex Hush Batman blue suit has had that loose drop down joint since I got it years ago. I just sort of gave up and pose it in ways where it can't drop. But it definitely wants to.
Pull the leg out and dunk it in warm water for a few seconds. That might reshape it, then add a drop of lubricant on the ball (make sure it's safe on plastics.) and as far as the drop down, I used a tiny flathead to push together the drop down joints.
The way Tamashii nations will over engineer some random ass figure in a new line, then continue with treit and true designs in others is fucking bizarre. The only line Ive seen consistency with the new ones is the Naruto line, and the only problem I had was the socket one Kakashi's head was too small so I had to enlarge it a bit.
The tail not plugging in might be a qc issue? I got it today and the tail on mine plugs in and sits flush to the butt.

Answer of the day at 4:10 the painfully visible chest cut and messy hips have do not scream €200-250 action figure to me, without watching anything else.
But that's unfortunately par for the course with SH Figuarts, they always seem to struggle with huge figures and are usually better off with the Zero line.
My tail personally fits well, it could be a QC issue with yours?
I do have issues with it though:
-The cape. I just take the cape off whenever I want to handle it, as it is heavy and somewhat restricts action
-The moustache system is annoying, they should have come with a pair for each face
I think Kaido is a very difficult design to action-figureise, especially the one piece cape designs. he's the reason I got into one piece so honestly I'm pretty happy to own this, but handling it is really difficult.
They could just make a cloth cape, it don't need to be made of little feathers like kaido's original cape, a purple fur cape would be enough I think.
Plastic capes are simpler to produce but they need all the joint design and almost always destroys the figures balance.

I hate how quality control can make and break everyones opinions as a whole. My tail stays on well but his head pops off kinda easily if i pose it or move it to the side alot
The only thing i can do later is trying to like and enjoyed the figure as much i can.

I was completely unfamiliar with this figure, so even though I heard you say “expensive” and “high price point” I was still not expecting something as high as $250! I did a double take! At that point in the review, I think it’s already not worth the price. Even before getting into articulation, I think it doesnt visually look like $250.
Anthony, you just nailed everything the figure has from good to the issues it has.
The cape is one of the biggest head scratchers that makes you wonder why they made it PVC like what the hell, why make it so damn heavy? I will say i still pose him a lot lol.
The tail it's another dumb decision that makes you wonder who's in charge with the quality and how the figure moves. I have a Diablo figure and his tail's articulation is way better than what they did here since it's pointless.
The paint it's another thing since you are paying almost 240 bucks, at least add some more paint you bunch of cheapskates A-holes.
Oh yeah it Falls apart, what i do it's to pose the figure while the face plate and hands will be added later and so far it worked well for me at least.

The Maestro Union FuRay Planet Tiger and Werewolf had the same type of legs and they had no issues standing up. A good set of ratcheting ankles and knees are really needed for larger figures
His ankles are great. Knees are ok. The problem is the heavy cape
@@AnthonysCustoms The cape if it’s that heavy should have been done with a wired blue faux fur material, but I’ve never seen Bandai do soft goods capes.
It was weird when you have high expectations for the figure, then Anthony ruins all the hope and still, you feel thankful for it.
To me, this figure's standing ability and articulation gives off the feeling of a bootleg company releasing a figure based off a prototype.
They probably could've lowered the price by $40 if they got rid of the toe joints, and made the cape ABS lol
The funny thing about the scales is that even on the prototype, they only painted the scales on his chest and shoulders so it’s not technically a mistake as far as the figure goes. But from what I’ve seen (and I’m not even close to Wano yet) all his scales should be painted this way. So on top of the quality issues, they even managed to fudge up the basic design of the character.
They're fully colored in the show any time they aren't simplifying the details at district or something like that
I was actually going to say the same exact thing about the scales, I noticed it immediately and thought "the scales aren't painted" bandai seems to have this issue a lot, makes their figures look a lot cheaper than they are. Honestly for that big price point the paint is unacceptable, especially when considering the figures size, which isn't even close to how tall it should be when compared to the rest of the line, it reminds me of the old VAH Whitebeard, which was big, but not big enough, when it comes to scale in one piece I would rather it be as accurate as possible. OK, so after watching the video, my honest reaction, a classic AVGN "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?!" for that price tag, with these issues, man I ought to just make my own kaido figure, at least then it wouldn't fall apart. Also, when you weighed the cape with him, he didn't even have the tail on, so if it's already really close to his weight with no tail, I can imagine it must be a nightmare to deal with, I would definitely get a custom cape for him or something, though that's true of most one piece figures. Overall I'm glad I didn't get into this line, I'll be sticking with my imagination works luffy and some of the VAH figures like I already was doing instead.
I would cry if I spent that much on that POS. He is a beautiful figure when not articulated but I cant handle falling apart and the huge gaps. A statue would suit him so much better
Don't know anything about this character, but he looks like mutated superhero Tick, I like it
Kaido is one of the major bad guys In one piece in the Wano Arc. His power allows him to turn into an eastern dragon similar to shenron from dragon Ball and the dude is one of the strongest villains in one piece
I wonder for the next shonen jump crossover game will kaido be the villain rep for the one piece section.
Is Bandai making One Piece model kits and pricing as full figures?
I think itd be worth more around 200, its size makes me assume its gonna have problems standing already and those joints will get worse over time. The dragon or a human version probably would have been better for a figure that will last but I worry it wouldnt
they put articulation on parts that don't really need it just up numbers
the videos you make on your CZcams channel are cool, a piece of advice before you buy expensive figurines forgotten by others who buy the same figurines as you, because yes, it's not a waste of money and time
I think they were going for an anime version because his scales are like that on his shoulders and nowhere else, but then sometimes it goes through out his whole body

Hey the tail, it should be able to go in all the way. The tail on mine is all the way in and is able to use it as a stand. I shouldn't be floppy and loose like that.

LOL is Bandai just giving up with SHF? This guy is up there with Guts and Griffith in terms of just poor choices for engineering and literally falling apart in your hands.
A great question of the day some time should be, “what is the most annoying figure you own?” This guy seems to take the cake 🤣 though the absolute most annoying figure in my collection is the Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 General Grievous. Very similar to this where everything falls apart or is too heavy, or too loose 🤬 looks amazing, but is the WORST action figure I’ve ever had the displeasure of handling lol great review man!
Think its time for SH to take a step back and re-evaluate. Theyre being given the some of the best IPs around and theyre dropping the ball BAD. I was so hyped for the berserk stuff and theyve only had one thats good but still not even worth the price point
I feel you comment about the missing paint on scales is valid, but the advertising and the displayed items in most shows was exactly the same as they have done. The complain that I have it the stability of the figure. I never liked solid plastic capes for SHF, that should be clothed one.
The sad part is the tail issue.
There is a reason why I get only older stuff and it’s reasons like this with Bandai over engineering is why
I googled an image of him and yes, the scales should have been painted all the way to the legs.... but otherwise it was advertised the way it is.... so people should know what they are buying. I totally agree with anthony, It makes the figure looks cheap. like its unfinished.
There are at least 5 antagonists in One Piece that would make better Figuarts than Kaido including; Rob Lucci, Doflamingo, Mihawk, Crocodile and Katakuri. This is being released due to the hype around the Wano arc.

I'm still going to buy it but this does bum me out. One piece is my favorite show so i have to have this. Maybe people will hate it so much the price drops lol
Dang, it's crazy how SH Figurats could really make some incredible figures from animes that were old or one offs, but one of Japan's biggest on-going shows they drop the ball super hard...TWICE!

Ouch, I don't buy One Piece figures, but this got me a bit worried about the King Cold I pre-ordered the other month seeing how there could be some similarities with them both being huge, having capes, and tails. though, from an outsider perspective most of the One Piece figures do all seem to all have lots of issues(I think Sanji was the only one I didn't see people have a lot to complain about?) so it could be a different team than the Dragonball guys(which isn't perfect by any means either, but does seem to be held to a bit of a higher standard). I can't stand when figures can't do the pose advertised on the promo pics either lol. Recoome comes to mind.

When you start trying to show the articulation and everything falls off just by breathing on it, thats why i stopped collecting sh. Especially sh monsterarts. Seems to happen like 2/3 figures. So sad for this price range.
All these companies are getting beyond ridiculous with the prices and poor quality ripping the consumer off thats why I quit buying most

This looks good aesthetically but for the price, the amount of issues and the fact that things constantly fall back is just ridiculous. Trunks was an unpleasant experience with that arm popping off, this guy has that issue too. For the price, with the issues its a bummer 😐
He looked so good, I insta pre-ordered him, but thank god I cancelled it... As a statue, it's dope, but as you pose it you feel like you pose a model kit as everything just falls off all the time.

My initial thought is no this figure isn't enough for the price point. If it's going to be in the $250 range it better be Giant or extremely limited. Even if this figure turns out to be great I still don't think it's worth that price

Fyi, the darker blue "scales" are like that because those are tatoos not his actual scales.its a fault if his actual design, not the figure.
They're colored in all official artwork and games...
@@AnthonysCustoms Ill admit to being wrong about the tattoo. That one is reddish scales on his normal form, but the level of fidelity shifts on those from episode to episode, shot to shot. Theres images from the manga where hes got darkened scales all the way down, theres images where the level of detail is exactly like the figure and there are other where hes just that soft blue (usually for the smoother animation segments)

Figuarts taking more and more queues articulation-wise from Revoltech but fails to replicate any of the mechanics and fluid sculpts that differentiate the Revoltech line. Same fugly shoulder with SHF Guts, and now it seems to be a precedent for all chunky-ish characters. The tail is a joke.
Prewatch qotd, and my answer is no. First off he is scaled down way too much, he should be 3 times the size of Luffy. 2nd the cloak being plastic is terrible. 3rd the arms are ugly, they needed shwding kn the acales and the shoulder only really looks good in a neutral pose. 4th issue is the lack of a stand that can be used to pose him in different positions.
You mentioned about this being the most annoying figure that you have reviewed and ended up publishing. Do you review some figures that you don't publish then? I thought we got to see all of them, as you do such a thorough job in your reviews!
sh figuarts is just a very disappointing line at the moment. the chainsaw man/naruto figures feel like the only thing worth getting right now.

For $250 a figure needs to have all the required paint. There’s no excuse for that unless maybe it’s 2ft tall, but even then it shouldn’t be missing the most important parts.

Like, Model Kits are cheaper because people have to build them and sometimes paint them.
Action Figures are more expensive because you are buying a finished product, this figure is really nice but looks unfinished.

i havent bothered yet due to the animation style. looks like archer and the characters look so wimpy compared to the real versions. some day though
I wasn’t really on board at first either, but the story and action are fantastic. The animation could be better, but it’s still good.
@@AnthonysCustoms The animation does look like that sometimes but when it comes to the action you can see where the budget went to.
You will be surprise since characters like Cyclops they do show him as a badass and there's a cool sequence showing "cameos" of other characters that might show up later.
They basically sold everyone a really expensive plastic statue.

Shf is becoming old figma with their engineering and old Mafex with their qc😢😂, figma is stepping up their design and articulation still pricey and bit smaller is scale but yeah I see Shf being complacent with some of their biggest line cause they’re on top of the food chain for now… I would say Revoltech and figma are the most improved out of all the Japanese brands right now, but I’ve been satisfied with most of my Shf purchases this year as well but I do pick really hard and no longer buys anything they release as they have really mix record right now specially with qc & design issues on sought after figures like trunks and guts
