When Bajaj launched the Dominar 400, it impressed the reviewers. But not so well in terms of sale.
The original Pulsar 220 was a failure, so much that Bajaj had to go back to the drawing board, remove the FI unit and re-launch a conventional carb version, which succeeded over the next couple of years.
Bajaj learned the hard truth about Indian consumers - we aspire something, but buy something else that our pockets can afford. The new twins may not be so inspiring with segment firsts. But it will sell well with a no fuss reliable engine and its good accessible torque.
The next revolution and segment firsts, will come from Dominar range and will get passed on to Pulsars over the years, once its proven and accepted by commoners.

After the disappointment from Varun's Sugarcoating on powerdrift, which I didn't expect from him and had me craving for more shumi, I'm glad Karthikeya did a no nonsense review addressing everything people were doubtful about the pulsars.
Tldr, the pulsar doesn't over promise but still delivers. There's nothing to be excited about but it's a good motorcycle and an improvement over the prev gen, and it's cheap, you want one, you can get one. Won't blow your socks off but won't disappoint you either

This is the strategy of Bajaj in the development of these pulsars i believe. Since it was going to be a replacement for the 220, i think they just wanted to build a modern motorcycle which is affordable but with more of like a city commuter rather than a new quarter liter sports bike, much like the 220 when it came out

    • @GuerillaWar4s

@@apolloxlix679 no. The strategy here is to build a bike with new features, focusing on the new engine hence the design seems basic and not agressive. This 2 models are fillers until they announce an optimised version of cooler looking, better performance bikes that uses the same engine.
Edit: we'll see amazing bikes soon. This was just an announcement for their new engine and alittle bit of hint on what to expect on the upcoming ones.

Its an experiment with the pulsar series! That's what I feel, company didn't invest much on cosmetics, its just a cost cutting yet little more power 220 ... At the same affordable price of its previous sibling pulsar 220. If Bajaj gets a good public response they will get more Cosmetic changes and maybe a few more features like upside down suspension in front, slipper clutch like the dominar, liquid cooled engine, dual channel ABS, better & more premium looking lcd/led speedometer display, cooler looks etc in the coming future! A very well planned strategy, without having to lose much on the investment pulsar project! I am a happy carburettor Pulsar 220 owner! Last but not the least, expected much more from Bajaj and Bajaj did led me down with my expectations! We all have waited ages foe the new upgraded pulsars all our lives, just didn't get what had been expected! Thankyou BAJAJ! .

if you all have watched the live stream, Mr. Bajaj's emphatic intro into why PULSAR is the heart and soul of Bajaj, and then they deliver such mediocre, half baked under whelming products...
they could have gone all out and made a game changers, but playing it safe, avoiding collateral damage i.e sibling rivalry and making sure these fit thier product portfolio by slotting in perfectly without standing out too much to underwhelm all their other products, MAN! That there was the business decision that will get them millions in sales but devoid them of another legend like the 220F....
this could have been your chance to set free a different bike, one thats not only not based on a detuned KTM mill, but also one that packs a punch no less...but either bajaj's engineering is incapable of designing a superior 250cc engine and therby dethroning the one KTM designs or they simply will not becasue of thier own stake in the Austrians, ergo the fiduciary responsibility!

I understand Bajaj's decision here with playing safe because they didi mention that the 220 was a good seller. Since these are supposedly the bikes to replace the 220, maybe they didn't want to mess with the formula too much, maybe just a newer 220 of some sorts.
In that sense, i think Bajaj has done a great job. However in your sense of making game changers, i completely agree with your statement. But ultimately for manufacturers, if something doesn't sell, then they have low income which will hamper the development of new bikes. So i guess Bajaj is in that stage of hunting for sales in the moment

And the most funniest comment, that they talk about bluetooth/whatsapp is missing kind of :D Are you going to play with the console or ride a bike? Even gear position indicator is useless once you are familiar with the bike.. Because of this 2k kids comments (who never rides the bike) , which started to give unwanted messages to manufacturer hence they started to concentrate on cosmetics and increasing the price drastically.. And now a days even after you paid huge amount, still they make very bad pillion seat comfort/worst suspension but none of the rider wants to talk about it rather reviewing cheap cosmetics. unhealthy !!

  • @helraiserlastdaysofhell1795

Only issue is single channel ABS, still good bikes. Its funny the 0 -100 timing is same as FZ25 despite having 24.5 bhp. Comfort in N/F250 is better than NS/RS200.

As someone who got his first pulsar 20yrs back...i do miss the special feeling in this generation. Yes, i m old...but still a biker (even though my body parts are failing:) ).
The tank , the main character of pulsar, atleast is metal...but not bulbous 18L of the original bad boy (definitely male).. its like if you go fast and brake hard.. the bike shows who is the boss 😎...it's a funny n painful feeling (sorry millenials..can't explain in detail)
Either way...i hope i can do a retro-mod of this bike..and make it look like my 2001pulsar. Or, i ll wait for 2041..when i retirr and get my next one.

Can't fathom Bajaj's strategy. I think people are going to appreciate and buy the NS200 and the F220 more. Maybe that's what Bajaj also wants. Anyways a relatively balanced review compared to some of the other reviews which, frankly, were disappointing to say the least; but disappointing seems to be the overall theme when it comes to these two bikes.

The disappointment is they did not provide dual channel ABS as an option. Single channel ABS with 24.5 bhp is risky for highway speeds at 120 kmph.

  • @ujwalshrestha8027

Why do everyone needs so much of tech ?
I mean you can feel the motor over that bike .. why only top speed ? Why liquid cooling if oil cooling just is fine .. ? Why ergonomics like r15 or rc ? Which is not even practical ? ..
The headlight of n250 is like evolution of older pulsars .. the wolf eyed .. more than those of mt.. people just like to criticize or what ?
As per everyone's opinion the sales of pulsars would have been stopped years ago .. but why is it still selling so much ? Is it just because of the names ? I think not .. today when the introduction of bs6 fi & abs has made a huge increment in the price .. & the petrol is just getting higher numbers ..
This would be a perfect bike for most of those who want to shift to 250cc I guess .. not everyone are craving for those higher tech & those speed numbers ..
If you didn't like it you can go for other options .. Why wasting time in criticising.. let the customers do their choice..
