Hi Nothando. You'd actually be surprised by how much black Africans from other African countries are most preferred by the private sector. In the government, what you saying holds but white captitalists that are in the private sector try to dodge the BBBEE labour laws. As a South African, Ive personally witnessed this when i was working for a German company in Port Elizabeth. Also, ive recently met a Zimbabwean guy who told me a very shocking story. He is doing his PhD in the humanities faculty of the university of Pretoria. The university awarded him a bursary for his MA and for his current PhD studies. He says that the scholarship was meant for a local South African that was already a student inside UP. At that time he was working in Zim (with a degree & honours from a Zim university) but a Zimbabwean friend forwarded him the advert & urged him to apply inspite of the stated BBBEE criteria. He applied & alot of internal South Africans applied as well. However, he is the one that was awarded the bursary. He says that the white Professor who was a head of that bursary program contacted him directly, helped him with all the permits that he needed. Money was involved and that Professor paid for everything from his own pocket. The whole permit process delayed by a year but the Professor insisted that they would wait for him. Thats how much he specifically wanted to empower a Zimbabwean. Even the friend that forwarded him the advert was a Zimbabwean working in the faculty that was advertising the bursary and so when he urged him to apply he knew that he stood a good chance inspite of the fact that the bursary was meant for a South African that was already in the UP system.

@@NothandoMoloi You're most welcome. Our struggle as black South Africans is so so real. Everything that ive just explained is aimed at making sure that white supremacy remains unchallenged in the South African context. If black South Africans are given all their rightful opportunities then we will start affording land for example. Yet right now 60%-70% of our land is still owned by white supremacist. And so its better for them to empower foreign blacks because the money they earn in SA doesnt threaten the current status quo (vast socio-economic inequalities inspite of SA's 30 years into democracy). The Zimbabweans & other Africans send their earnings to their countries of origin as remittances. And they buy land there which is beneficial for perpetuating our local crisis of white supremacy.

I dont know. Im a QS/M&E Specialist based in Zimbabwe. I was once contacted by a project manager in SA to produce BoQs, Schedules and M&E reports for proposed agricultural project in SA. Apparently the local guy who was tasked to do it ddnt do a good job and this dude recommended that they contact me. I dd the task in 2 days very perfectly and sent the docs by email. So sometimes its about efficiency, competence and skill. The private sector unlike the public sector, does not care abt nationalistic policies. They are driven by profits and revenues and all those capitalistic parameters. They hire the best person to deliver regardless of demographic characteristics.
