- This is number two in my series of short videos on how to draw various animals. Here I talk about drawing house cats. Many people struggle with drawing animals but if you have a pet, such as a cat, you can get a leg up by studying and drawing you animal at home!

Aaron Blaise is an animation feature film director and wildlife artist.
For 21 years Aaron worked with Disney helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on "The Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" and more.
In 2003 he was co-director of "Brother Bear" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.
After "Brother Bear" he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. I used this video to draw my dead cat, pia and it came out so good! She died two years ago and I've never really been able to find a good how to draw. I'm gonna draw my dead dogs soon too. I cant wait to see them again.
I have the best of both worlds, both a fluffy kitty and a short haired so I can study both the anatomy and how the fur moves!
I love how the stuff I've been drawing for YEARS only ever fully clicks after watching Aaron demonstrate it. That says a lot about how GREAT of a teacher he is!

House cats are difficult for everyone it seems, I don't think I've ever seen a good looking CGI photorealistic cat in my life. You nailed it though, and it's not surprising!
Aaron Blaise - yet another lefthanded drawing master! I noticed a while ago that I often see lefthanders, but by now - since I a lways check on the 'handness' of drawingteachers, I find, lefthandedness in drawing'masters' is something of a RULE ..., at least it's much more than a mere coincidence! Probably lefthanders are more creative, and more persistent when it comes to learning to draw. - I myself am not a real left- or righthander. Especially in drawing i use both hands. AND i'm realising lately, that the left is actually much less inhibited, and much less perfectionistic. ... --- Thanx for the Housecat..

Brilliant! And only 10 minutes for two glorious works of art. You are truly a master at drawing! The only thing I had a problem with was drawing the pupil! You were able to make the eyes extremely realistic, I have no idea how.

Again, absolutely brilliant! If you don't mind, I'll try to draw along with your videos for a while, because I can pause them. Whereas my cat (and my dog) have a tendency to wake from deepest sleep just before I have finished my sketch and change position.
I noticed that he is very good at looking for typical Signs of every animal
I've dealt with many cats in my time, it's going to be fun to be able to illustrate them hunting me😅

hello Aaron, i love ur work! how can i (as a begginer artist) schearch for a place where i can work/study with this, with animation? Since (when talking abt work) now we don't have any companies that use 2d to hire animators? (i don't want to work with 3d art, i simply love the 2d too much for "abandon" it)
