Another crazy fact. NF’s wife lost her dad in a similar way. The song Got You On My Mind talks some about that. I’m sure both going through that has helped them a lot in their marriage.

You really need to react to How Could You Leave Us by NF before anything else. So many future lyrics are a callback to that song. Also, Intro 3 could be seen as a sequel to Mansion, where he elaborates more on the last line of Mansion (Is that me or the fear talking? I don't know anymore).
He is following the journey so everything will be in order perfectly.
So his parents divorced and he and his siblings were raised by his mom.
Until his father had to take them away cause he a sibling got abused by his moms boyfriend.
And then later his mother passed away. So much trauma at a young age.
This song is a masterpiece especially when you know all the references in other songs back to this song.

The final verse always gets me. I too let fear into my house and he never left. He's been living with me for so long it changed who I was
Absolutely love NF’s content. Both my parents passed away over the last 3 years and I started having panic attacks. Therapy helped but NF music helped more. 🤷🏻♂️

Oh man when you came across the regret verse about his Mum it just makes me wonder what your perspective and insight on his song "How Could You leave us" is going to be. Cause that song pretty much is him opening that "room" for a whole song, It's sad, insightful but also very powerful.
Also thank you for doing these videos using your knowledge and gifts God's given you to further reach these communities that Nate has also.

I wish this man could be my therapist. How do you let go of the past. I still drown in my own at even 40 years old. Idk how to get past it, how to escape being lost. How to see life in a positive way without constantly thinking of suicide. Idk how to let go.. I’ve tried, but I’m trapped inside my mind and I can’t find my way out. I don’t think I ever will.
@Nik C so are you seeing a therapist? I just started at 38, so far my first session helped. Just having a person to talk to or unload on has been a relief to me. I hope you find someone you trust to help you.
One song that is rarely on a list for the journey is a song on the Therapy Session album called "Oh Lord". You will love it. It came out in 2016, and probably more relevant now.

Fantastic reaction. It was very interesting to hear your professional take on this, much appreciated. I have listened to this song more times than I can count just because it's such a beautiful piece of song writing and the perfect metaphor for expressing his pain. It's so relatable even though I didn't come from the exact same trauma he went through. NF and a pen and paper is a deadly combination. :)
What you spoke on about vulnerability, NF really does this all out like you said, and as a big fan of his I've tried to incorporate being okay about being more vulnerable myself with great results. You hit the nail on the head speaking on that. This was a long comment but you deserve some credit for the reaction video.
I'm glad that you are taking this journey and after watching you react to this song, I think you should watch how other people have reacted to it. Some people watched it and were like, " I'm just like that! ", but the ones that get me are the people that are really overtaken from lost memories from their childhood. That happened to me but after seeing how I was not alone in this, it has helped me.

An amazing example of his self knowledge! My therapists were/are always impressed with my degree ofself knowledge but it should be of no surprise given how much I obsses over everything. It is bound to reveal alot but knowledge apparently is not enough. Courage is really the thing...

Love NF. Mansion is one of my favorites because I use the house theme in my own meditations to organize my memories. I'm not sure how to recommend a song but I would love to see you react to Fallen Angel by Mass of Man. I looked but don't see it in your line up.
In this journey we are witnessing someone that has reach that point of seeing a reality they never knew existed. And can never go back to unseeing.. Discovering how messed up and ill prepared he truly is for life. I coined this when i couldnt unsee" the defense mechanisms that kept me alive as a child , defeat me as an adult".
Another great one. One thing to look forward to… In the song Intro 3 his fear is talking back and forth with him and he mentions a guy named Johnny. While it’s never been confirmed. Lot of ppl think Johnny is the moms boyfriend who beat him. Just so you can connect those later on down the line.

The next song I would recommend for you to react to would be "How could you leave us?" by NF
This is definitely a pivotal song in understanding his later work. He establishes metaphors in his earlier work that he refers to later. If you don't listen to and understand the earlier work, you can miss things in his later work.
intro III is great follow up to this song!! as he mentions letting fear moving into his house in this song, intro III is him talking to his fear and kicking it out of his house. super cool to analyze these 2 side by side!

I'm wondering if you've ever done an exercise like this in your practice. I would argue that this song I the single most important song on the journey. It's a metaphorical backdrop that he refers back to across all his albums. Keep this one in mind when working through other songs.
One other note...in the link of songs I gave, I have two more than what is on that list. The first is Wait, which is on the Mansion album. I would love to see your thoughts on that one and what you see through it regarding his view on relationships. The second is Oh Lord, which is on the Therapy Session album. I hope you can hit both.
Thanks so much Joel! Yes, I do things like this with clients and it's super effective because it gives them a picture of how much trauma has occurred in their life and how to compartmentalize things to be worked with later. EMDR is really effective here! Thanks for recommending the journey!
