Used all my xtra money as a teen in 1990 to buy score 90 packs. Fun to look at from time to time

It's nice cards like this are still around and are affordable for some of the younger collectors. I started collecting in 1987, so I bought a ton of this stuff when I was a kid. But these boxes are 33-years old as of 2023, so it would be like little old me breaking a box of 1956-57 Parkhurst in 1990 and pulling Gordie Howes and other greats like Jacques Plante er Sawchuk, lol...

most underrated set in sports cards. If you ask me it is the best set of all time. the only set that compares is probably 86 fleer basketball. the 1990 score hockey is loaded with hall of famer rookie cards. you got the best goalie of all time. the number 2 scorer of all time the best American player of all time(modano) and so many other hof rookies.

I usto buy the factory sets and break them up long ago , probably cheaper now I paid like 29.99 rack in the 90’s

I went and looked at my Brodeur Score RCs; so many of them were miscut, or the left or right top edge of the card wasn't level with the rest of the card; Score workers must have become tired of replacing the blades on their machines.... or whatever they used. I really do love the design of the 1990-91 Score hockey; it's classy and still looks good.

I still have an unopened box like this myself , I had 3 but opened 2 during the pandemic , got all the cards we used to dream of finding. Was really nostalgic and fun. Only recently started looking to see if cards from that Era were worth anything and found out unfortunately not. I also found out about grading lol, things have changed . Probably have a dozen Brodeurs kicking around . It's fun like you said .

I pc the Brodeur rookie and have a ton. I recently saw one on facebook with a different player on the back. They showed me pics of both sides and a video flipping card back and forth. I've never seen one before nor was I able to locate any other info. Have you heard of this before? I cannot remember the name of the player on the back now of course.

I'm a collector first so I have to say the value of these has nothing to do with money. But yes some of the "Junk Wax" era cards have sold upwards of 200 USD, with high grades.

Score exclusive rookies of note: Nelson Emerson, Eric Lindros, Olaf Kolzig, Martin Brodeur. Unfortunately for each exclusive RC, it's missing like two like Ed Belfour, Sergei Federov, Pavel Bure, Peter Bondra, Scott Niedermayer, Felix Potvin, etc.

Insert cards were always in the same spot every box. Dealers would pull them for themselves and collectors didn’t get a chance if buying single packs.

@@beesterscardcorner9668 even without inserts, there was a pattern to how the boxes were filled, so if there was a particular card you wanted (ie- Eric Lindros rk) you would find it in the same pack in most boxes. Alternatively some of the wax wrappers were see thru- so if you noticed a certain card on the back- you knew what cards were coming in the middle of the pack.
