I asked the musical question 😌 and later saw someone on Instagram say Warbreaker could honestly be like a Disney princess musical and now I'm very invested hahaha
That was a great question, I loved hearing the answers!
Someone on Reddit made a poster for Warbreaker the musical.
As soon as I heard your question I said Warbreaker!
@@teancumsjavelin363 stop iiiiiit I need to see it haha
invested pun intended?
I was actually re-watching Dr. Strange the other day and said
"Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king".
My wife looked at me really funny.
The unknowing Twice reference from Dan about "If I work hard, I can eat delicious things" is my favorite crossover
I pointed at the screen and yelled, "THAT'S MOMO" and then came down here to post about it.
To think it was a K-pop idol I knew. That's a good coincidence.

Thanks!
God I needed this. Just found out my Dad has cancer again. This is the fourth time he's had it and I'm worried this is the one that will do him in. I probably shouldn't be sharing this but I'm in a state.
All the best to you and your family.
praying for your family.
Best wishes for your dad. In sorry you and him have to go through that terrible experience
Wish your family all the best! You'll get through this!
best wishes for your father. Be sure to spend as much time with him as humanly possible.
17:08 That was a well deserved jab, I love the rithmatist so much, and definitely want sequels!
The highstorm is just Brandon expressing his true Hydro Homie nature
Stormlight adapted as a show like Arcane would be very dope.
You should let him know
Took them 6 years to produce Arcane. Imagine how long it would take to make Stormlight Archive :’(
I go back and forth on whether I'd rather see an animated or live action Stormlight. Animated would certainly get it out sooner and with fewer barriers, but I can't help but imagine it in live action with a Game of Thrones or Mandalorian level budget.
@@lukemartinserrano4765 that's because they only animated 0.7s of it everyday.
yeah it would probably go a bit faster since they wouldn't have to construct the plot, animation style, setting etc. from basically scratch
That From Software/George R. R. Martin "beef" near the end is a nice little nugget.
So Brandon.
You inspired me to keep writing.
Also I fell asleep during class one day because I had stayed up till 3 am reading Rhythm of War.
Will Brandon and Dan do a No Way Home episode? That’d be great!
Dan mentioned The Calculating Stars in passing and I am here freaking out because that series is FLAWLESS! PLEASE READ IT!
I also had a second of recognition cuz that's a book on my bookcase I haven't read yet. Maybe once I get through Oathbring and Rythmn of War I'll do that one next
@@kamille286 I haven't read anything from the Stormlight Archive, but I would suggest reading it between those two, so you can catch a break. It's such a breath of fresh air in adult Sci-Fi... it's so wholesome and well written, while at the same time being super exciting and having some really infuriating characters, hahaha! I've just finished the second book and I can't wait to dive into the third!
I am so happy to hear that Dan Wells plays GW2.
That’s my go to game haha
I'm happy and surprised at how much japanese and korean related stuff was mentioned here.
Especially the fact that the people asked for good eating spots nearby. That was interesting.
Love it. Please tour the uk and ireland for your next books
I love the guy at the end who heard about the Korean food and got up early to beat the line.
I believe Foundation is a really good science fiction TV series--while admittedly they have taken major, major liberties with the source material. While some adaptations have me miffed as to what's left out or changed (if they leave Feyd out of Dune I'll be royally miffed!), I believe this show might be better written than even the source material.
I really liked how they do a one-dimensional character like Salvor Hardin, who only last a few chapters, and made the character into an action hero with depth. What is done with the Emperor Cleon is entirely an invention, but the Cleon(s) as a character make more fantastically complex antagonist, sometimes empathic, sometimes horrific.
In rereading the first Foundation book for the second time in preparation for the watching the series, while I love the concepts based on the Fall of the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages translated into a sci-fi future, I have to wonder if a book written like this would be able to be published today. The genre has certainly evolved over the past 70 years.
he knows worm, nice. I loved that serial.
I love you 🦝🦄 but Hidetaka Miyazaki and George Martin are such a perfect collaboration 🫂 their styles and use of the uknown and darkness/solemnity/tragedy is a perfect match.
This is delightful.
36:33 This is true! I went to Japan December 2019 and I had a huge culture shock moment over the very popular KFC Christmas buckets.
Speaking of Worm, I don't know how Brandon feels about audiobooks, because listening to the audio version is definitely better than spending the whole week reading Worm. You can just listen to it when you feel like it. And the audiobook is literally free.
But I will recommend Pale. Wildbow wasn't bad when he wrote Worm, however, his new works are 100 % better than the old work.
Wildbow has said that he wishes he could edit Worm down into a publishable state, actually. I think Pale is still in progress? For a completed one, Twig is excellent in a biohorror kind of way, much tighter than Worm, and (unlike Ward) doesn't require prior knowledge.
He just, "heard you were a, 'Magic, the Gathering' fan?!" 😂🤣😂🥰
Y'all crack my up even when you're not talking about the subject I understand. It's clear you've been friends a while. Solid burns! 😂🔥
After hearing Brandon's "writers like me" recommendation I wondered if he has ever read the Obsidian Mountain books by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory. Not saying they are like super like Brandon Sanderson works or anything, but they are really good set of Epic Fantasy books. There's actually 7 of them now, in the style of the Mistborn series. One trilogy set in one time period, and a sequel trilogy set in another time period in the same world. The 7th book starts a prequel trilogy, again in a much different time period but in the same world as the others.
An I am Not a Serial Killer musical would actually be a really good idea.
Could Naren Shankar from The Expanse become the showrunner for The Wheel of Time? Asking for a friend.
Elden ring 44:35
Thank you! I was looking for this!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I love GW 2!
Give me that second act musical montage of John Cleaver paying people compliments with increasing desperation.
sunflower seeds is very popular "snack" in russia and they are just called Semechki
Dan being into GW2 makes me wanna get back into it, but i'm so bad at it it's pointless...but uh shiny!
The problem with GW2 is that, while it's a solid solo experience up until Straits of Devastation, it abruptly stops being one at that point and if you haven't found a guild or friends to play with, you rapidly get outclassed by everything on the map. But if you do have people to run with, it should still be fine.
I feel like Warbreaker would be a good musical
50 minutes has never gone by so quickly.
I mean, if you only hire gamers to only get the same games they played. Wouldn't it be better to have creators from outside the game sphere to inspire new games?
I would think a person who knows and loves the series would understand what made the past games fun much better and would be able to create a game which can deviate from the series yet still stay true to its core values. After all, the people who know what a fanbase wants the most are the fans themselves.
@@brianscalabrine2225 But that's the thing, George isn't even involved with the development of the game. His only _task_ was to write the overall mythology and lore of the project and as Miyazaki (Souls series and Elden ring director) stated Geroge's draft was completed in pre-production and while they used Martin's work as reference the overall game design, story and dialogue are still being handled by Fromsoftware completely and George has no say how they handle those elements.
So even if it were Sanderson instead of Martin his role would have been the same, he wouldn't have been directly involved with the development team.
But then we COD and we all know the ups and down of that series. It's not like Goerge is making the game mechanics, just the world that the game will inhabit.
31:40 Bakka Phoenix is in the heart of downtown Toronto. But it doesn't seem like it bc the "Toronto" airport isn't actually in Toronto, but people think you land in Toronto
you know sandos got some horneater wine in that thermos.
Ffxiv question got me laughing
Stormlight as a musical is really really funny in my head. Its mainly the idea of Kaladin singing that gets me.
lol
Ah, Kaladin as a singing hero. Let's go ahead and cast Ben Platt right now! /s
Maybe Stormlight Archives could be an MMO. I'm not sure how well stormlight magic would work as an MMO, it would probably have to be a bit unconventional for an MMO
The game Brando Sando meant by FromSoftware is obviously Elden Ring.
Adoooonalsiiiiium
Brandon did you make a r/hydrohomies reference?
God I hope Brando reads Worm
Was really cheered that the Wildbow fandom has held the line like that
Elden ring looks sick but I’m hoping we will get to see one of your worlds as a video game with you at the head
I'd love it if someone like Larian would make an RPG based on a Brandon Sanderson idea, I think they would pull it off
For real. I mean read through Elantris and tell me it doesn't sound like a Dark Souls setting!
please please please watch foundation and tell us your thoughts!
hold up how many episodes did they record here exactly.
Brandon casually referring to J. J. fucking Abrams as "J. J." is a boss move
NOT Brandon Sanderson and NOT Dan Wells, my favorite podcasters.
😳 the Korean place was closed from covid :(
I'm kind of curious on their take on modern trek, after he saw the redletter media prequels review. And which golden compass he found dull? I think the hbo show was lacking compared to the books but wasn't that bad.
"You're a terrible person!" 🤣
Dan desperately needs to read The Adventures of the Princess and Mr. Wiffle
I'm a water drinker too.. my people!
Wouldn’t a Deadman TV show mostly just be a reframing of Quantum Leap?
I love Brandon's salty tirade about Elden Ring but I have to say: who has a better track record of creating the hopelessness that From likes to use in its games? I feel like Brandon's worlds are too hopeful even when they're supposed to be fallen pits. But maybe that's my knowledge of an eventual happy ending coloring my perception.
Idk, Mistborn felt pretty hopeless
@@BirdMorphingOne Fair, it is a taste thing. My point is more that generally Sanderson things have a happy-ish ending even if they have a sad beginning or middle. Whereas GRRM can make it seem like things might be alright right up to the point he chops Ned Stark;s head off. And it's this feeling of optimism that makes even "dark" Sanderson stuff not feel very dark to me.
Don't get me wrong, that's actually why he's my favorite author! I love mostly good endings. It also means that if he writes an unalloyed sad ending (not bittersweet, straight sad) it's really gonna hit me right in the feels.
I gotta finish my soda before I continue. Just doesn't feel right.
Wasn't Quantum Leap pretty much Deadman the series?
Dan Wells Steelheart is just The Boys tbh
Oh dang! You're right!
Brandon said that he plays DOOM Eternal. Has he beaten it on Ultra-Nightmare?
Ah, the curse of running videos at events. If there' s not a big enough space to stanchion off the crowd to create a safe space around the camera, it's a nightmare!
Someone asks a question about Magic, the Gathering and said they listened to a podcast with Tim Poole and Brandon starts talking about Mark Poole.
Ignoring Tim Pool seems like the best option
@@zipperzee As much as we can anyway

+1 for a hatewatch of Foundation so i dont have to !🤣
There is a LOT to discuss re: storytelling and what could be done better by hate-watching Foundation. I think it would be a valuable discussion. So please, make m watching it worthwhile by helping me clearly express what was wrong with it. (Note: Not everything is bad, some is quite good, but I feel like the show would be much better as half-hour episodes as much of the good is undercut and buried in the wash.)

Why is Tina Belcher asking about MTG?
#WaterTheNewWater
The lack of enthusiasm from Brandon and the audience for WoT season two is telling.
yeah he's never going to shit on it, and they're doing their best but it was quite the let-down sadly.
33:54 if anyone is wondering (Question starts at 31:48)
It's the sound of a room lowering their expectations. When there were so many things about the show I liked, it almost made it more sad when things were so...not great in a weird way?
At the time of recording, only the first three episodes had aired.
I'm hate-watching Foundation right now! Would love to hear what parts of it annoy you guys
The disrespect of how they show robots in the empire is infuriating.
Edgedancer would make a good musical. The rithmatist would too, except for the chalk effects.
"Wheel of Time author dismayed George R. R. Martin worked on Elden Ring"
LOL might be because everyone knows who he is. The TV show of wheel of time is avg 64% audience VS game of thrones 85%. Speaks volumes and it's TV which is most accessible to people. Face it people don't read books like the 90s and before.
Brandon didn't write books in the 90s, nor is he the author of the Wheel of Time that the TV show adapted, and GoT hit big in the 2000s.
44:40 okay, just saw some news about some author "criticizing FROMSOFTWARE for George RR Martin Elden Ring collaboration". Rather than "the person who has played their games since King's Field". A lot of people, me included, didn't even know what Mistborn or you were before seeing this news. Imagine if the trailer had "a game by Brandon Sanderson and Hidetaka Miyazaki", everyone but your fans would be like "uh who's that?". I don't care about GRRM, but you gotta be someone before criticizing FROMSOFTWARE for choosing someone more well known than you. **point down gesture point down gesture rolls in circles arming and disarming guard** please don't take this too seriously
You should really have gone to Wikipedia first.
@@Duiker36 if you need to go to a Wikipedia page first to know about someone, that someone isn't known at all
@@strogonoffcore GRRM is better known than Brandon, without a doubt ((at least for the big masses). That's why FS chose him. I agree with you
He was making a joke, as you can see for yourself. Article took it completely out of context to make a clickbait headline.
I personally don't like any live action adaptation. When I know the source material. When I don't know about it, it may as well be a generic new thing.
Animation how ever has been great and we should do more of it
Worm is GOATed and mostly gets better as it goes on. Please Branderman Sandyslam, read it all :D

44:39 cry baby cry 😂
I like you dude but stop talking over the star. Every sanderson fan wants to hear him talk. Stop stopping him from talking
lol wtf
Being salty about elden ring... grow up
Question: Why does it seem like Rhythms of Bore was written for a much younger audience than previous books? It seemed as if the target audience was emotionally troubled teens. Why are all the strong male characters "demoted" in the story arch? Why are there so many unbelievable female roles? Why did you feel the need to take the sickest one and make her into 3 more women, meanwhile relegating Kaladin to such a pitiful role? Why did you ruin Stormlight?
Just to ruin your life, buddy
Funny enough I also didn’t like ROW. But for totally different reasons. Kaladin had an awesome plot, but many of the others came off as contrived or absurd to me.
Are you going around youtube to comment stuff like this on every Sanderson video. That is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣.
I feel it’s more realistic for someone to have ongoing mental problems than for them to magically vanish one day and all of a sudden they’re the best version of themselves. I feel like it provides a more realistic version of a person changing over time and the hardships they endure. The most important step is the next one.
