Should Etta James, Bob Marley, the Four Seasons, Aretha Franklin not be inducted because they aren't a typical "Rock" act? That's absurd. All artists are inspired by any number of genres. And that includes Madonna, who has not JUST inspired pop acts. Acts like Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Prince, Tori Amos and DOZENS more have coverd Madonna. Add to that, Madonna's Fuck You attitude and she is, Rock & Roll. Whether you like it or not.

“To rule the world” and boy didn’t she do just that and then some! Shes always been one step ahead of the trends. The way she’s reinvented herself numerous times, both musically and aesthetically, has been thrilling to watch. She’s got it on the money every single time, and she’s never missed a beat as far as upping her game and taking the next performance always to another level. Sadly her back catalogue is often down played, over looked or even banned from radio play, much of her work outside of music also goes without the deserved recognition or appreciation. Her creative is like no other, there’s never been another female artist who is able to remould themselves, remain current and hold on to their fan base the way Madonna has. Shes a real life chameleon, no genre out of bounds. Anyone remember the critics leading up to Evita’s release? And the joke was on them when she smashed the vocals out of the park, just like everything else she’s put her name to. She’s given us an awesome four decades and I’m sure she’s going to continue to inspire, educate, entertain and occasionally shock us for many more years to come.
