    It's sad that we need to travel to designated areas to see a natural occurring wonder that has been there forever. Put me in a home, alone in an isolated mountainous area surrounded by woods and really dark skies. I'd be happy for life.

    I totally agree with the Yellostone Park star gazing opportunity, as I visited there as a youngster in '78. I'd also recommend. The southern Philippines, particularly Palawan.

    I stayed at Vigantice in Czech Republic recently and the stars shone bright. Was a beautiful view. If you head up the Radagast monument mountain, the views are even better.

    I don't know why but whenever I see the night sky I get so scared my heart starts to hurt because of the stars and galaxies they look so small but in reality are billions of times bigger than the earth and the earth is so big it takes many weeks to travel around it in a airplane.

      The pictures where the ground and surrounding area is also very dark, yes. But if the rest of the picture is brightened, then that means the stars have been artificially brightened as well. If you go to the Atacama Desert, I’ve heard you’ll get an experience you’ll never forget or regret as long as you live.
