    Ok, the 20mm has been on my list of "must haves" so maybe its time to go for it !!!

    I have the 20 1.8 , it’s exceptional. Quite honestly the 24 won’t ever be in my bag when I already have the 26 pancake and the 24-120. Now if they bring out a 1.4 or 1.2 I may think again

    Interesting comparison; I always thought the 20 1.8 S outperformed the other S wide primes significantly. This brings them a bit closer. Still love my 20, though.

    With the F mount the differences between lenses are greater than with Z mount lenses I guess. I had some really junky F mount lenses back then when I started. Most of them spontaneously disintegrate or explode during usage by the way😊

      @ZWadePhoto  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hahahaha. I agree. The fun with F mount though was that difference. 180 2.8 when I wanted something a little more warm for skin, and the Zeiss 35 specifically for Black and white. Now everything is similar which has its strengths too, you really by the focal length these days 🤷‍♂️ the few that are uniquely awesome are REALLY damn awesome though

    I'm gonna spend my May renting both and take on different jobs. While the 20mm is more tempting (since I like the distortion more), I need to get a middle lens such as 40mm or 50mm. Great vid.

    The 20mm is an Astro god lens. However I really miss my Rokinon 24mm f1.4.
    I might find the 24 f1.8 on sale one day used but I am either going to bite on a Z 24mm f1.4 or heaven forbid a 1.2 or buy the next Z 14mm f1.4🤞🏻

      I’m sure we will see something native in the future. I just realized the other day that there hundreds of third party lenses for the Z mount now 🙌

  • @TCMx3
    @TCMx3 Před 3 měsíci

    Hard to imagine anyone being disappointed in either. The 20 is benched at a higher peak resolution. This is probably most relevant to folks who like to crop (and, I do crop occasionally, but usually not by much). Which is an odd use case for a 20mm prime. I wonder though if the 20 maybe has slightly worse actual light transition at any given aperture than the 24 (which would make sense). This could definitely impact the perceived saturation of colors as that varies by the brightness value of a color (with darker colors appear more saturated).

    • @ZWadePhoto
      @ZWadePhoto  Před 3 měsíci

      I couldn’t tell ya. All now, is the 20 seems more saturated haha

      These lenses, as well as pretty much every lens, are just different in what they do. Maybe big differences, maybe small.
      These days generally you can buy the focal length you want and edit it how you wish it was haha

    Hi and Thank You ZWade, what causes a lens to have more color saturation than another? Is it actually the lens elements and coatings, or is it that the lens somehow tricks the camera into being more or less sensitive to the colors?

    • @ZWadePhoto
      @ZWadePhoto  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I am by no means and expert on lens construction, what I know for SURE is that yes coatings contribute to color, and back in the day over complicated lens designs (lots of elements) equaled less quality images. That seems to be getting correct for to an extend and that’s where I gave up trying to understand it. Because I don’t know how they are getting exception quality out of lenses with 18 elements in 15 groups in a prime hahaha
