- Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russel Myers says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can't really do anything right by the royal family.
Mr Myers's remarks come after it was revealed in the Daily Mail about a new royal biography, the late Queen told aides Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had “taken” the only thing she owned, the name Lilibet.
It was also revealed in the biography ‘Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story’ that the Queen was angered by the Sussexes’ claim that she gave them her blessing to use the name Lilibet.
A palace staffer reportedly told author Robert Hardman that she was 'as angry as I’d ever seen her' following those claims.
"I mean Harry and Meghan can't really do anything right by over the other side of the pond at the best of times," Mr Myers told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
"So one may feel sorry for them in some instances."

The Queen invited Meghan's mother to the Xmas with the Royals,and she had made plans ahead to use Meghan appeal to the young people of the UK. The Queen knew it was time for the Monarchy to change for the better. Charles,and William were always envious of Harry's relationship with the Queen.The Queen always judged a person by how her dogs perceived them. Absolutely. When I heard they used than name I was astonished that they thought it was in good taste. I am an American, never was a royalist, but even I knew that it was a faux pas at best and a proverbial slap in the face to the QEII at worst.
I think Mr Myers skimmed over the tactlessness of the Harkles calling their child by the Queen's special name. She had every right not to be pleased by this. Both names aren't the least bit royal for a Prince or Princess. They are nicknames. Not how the RF operate at all.

The Queen let it be known at the time of Prince Philip's funeral that she did not want Lilibet used any more. The Carparkles decision to use it, to trade mark it, with out consent was a great big up yours. So no, Mr Myers, she was probably angry and had every right to be.

Robert Hardman has said in interviews, it wasn't the use of the name that annoyed her so much even though she wasn't asked, she was told, it was that H & M tried to get her and the Palace to agree with their version of events when they announced that the Queen had given her permission and they threatened to sue the BBC. The Palace refused to agree. You do not put words into the mouth of the Queen. And considering that prior to the birth of their daughter they had had their interview with Oprah wher they accused the Palace and the institution of racism and of not supporting them but hey, please let us use your very special nickname for our daughter. I know who is petty and vindictive and it is not the Queen!

Her grandparents and parents had called her that name and Prince Phillip had used that nickname for her as a term of endearment, so it was special to her. She wasn't asked if it was OK for her grandson and his wife to use the name, she was told they had done so. She is being quoted as saying that she didn't own the palaces or the paintings and now they had stolen the only thing that was hers. She had also asked that no one call her that name again after Prince Phillip died. I can see that she would be very hurt, especially after the Oprah interview, which also hurt her. She evidently did forgive them, because she invited them to visit her more than once after that. But they didn't even come to see her when she invited them not long before she died.
I don‘t agree. It would have been no problem if they had chosen Elisabeth as a name, but they took her private nickname. That is a huge difference. So I think the late Queen had every right to be upset. Especially coming from a pair that doesn‘t like the monarchy. That was a foul move!

Russell seems to be in the ranks of those who are missing the point of the commandeering of a name that was personal and dear to the late Queen, who wished for it to be retired after the death of Prince Philip. That her wishes were not only ignored, the way in which it was taken was what upset the Queen. Half truths and subterfuge employed by the Sussex pair showed a deep lack of respect.

Eh? The Queen specifically instructed that she did NOT want her pet name to live on; that’s the whole point. It was public knowledge that she wanted it laid to rest with her beloved husband. To have chosen Lillbet in an endearing tribute to the Late Queen would be counter to practically everything else H&M have done to the Royal Family! Someone clearly didn't do a lick of fact of checking or Russell Meyer is being purposely disingenuous when it comes to the anger over H&M naming their daughter after QEII. If they had named her after the late queen, her name would be Elizabeth on her birth certificate & no one would have had any issue with that.That is not the name on their child's BC, they named her Lilibet, a very private, childhood nickname that only 4 people in her life ever called her, which was her mother, father, sister & Prince Philip. When Prince Philip died, her wish was for her nickname to have died with him. To say she wouldn't have been upset & hurt over this is utterly ridiculous! H&M threatened to sue any media outlet over reports that the queen didn't give her blessing for them to name their daughter Lilibet, after she was born, 2 years ago.The palace refused to back their claim (because they lied) & all threats of litigation disappeared. The fact that they purchased domain names using the name Lilibet Diana several months before their child was born, makes one a damn fool to believe they ever cared about receiving HLMTQ's blessing on their use of her very private, very intimate childhood nickname. The fact that they've never sued any outlet that didn't retract claims that the queen never gave them her blessing, while QEII was still alive, no one from the palace made a statement that backed H&M's claims, is really all the proof needed that they lied, AGAIN. There is no way she would allow this controversy to hover over her innocent, great grandchild, if H&M had been telling the truth. Never complain, never explain would never have been applied here. The fact that Robert Hardman is highly respected & has a very close working relationship with the palace & very much like Tom Bower, likely has rock solid receipts to back everything he's written in his latest book, is very problematic for the Harkles. Like Tom Bower, they won't be suing Hardman, either & for the same reason. They'll just deny, deny, deny & clap back through the media, referring to themselves as "insiders" or "close source". They're very predictable. Furthermore, HLMTQ was actually more angered over H&M dragging her into their lie, than she was over their use of her nickname, which she was very upset by, but it was the lie they included her in coupled with their threats of legal action over their lie that they received her blessing before naming their daughter.

None of our business. Her medical stuff is private and should stay that way until she decides otherwise. I do recognize this is a beloved member of the Royal Family and the people are kind of freaking out over whatever made this surgery necessary, but IMO she deserves the peace she needs to heal and recover.

Why would she want her intimate name, something she cherished to live on in the offspring of those two? If they wanted to name their daughter after Queen Elizabeth, they could have named her Elizabeth. They could of have named her Lizzie. They could have named her Beth. They could have named her Isabel. They could have named her Betty. They could have named her Bess. They could have named her Eliza. Why did they have to use that special, personal, intimate name?
