My great uncle John was part of this squadron. He did survive this and the War.

I Love this..... I am very blessed about my Granddad (C. Rex Jeans) taken over... You are also very correct he didn’t talk about this at all... We didn’t know about this tragedy until several years later... yes, they also had reunions... sometimes at the Ranch here in Oklahoma & other places...
I will purchasing this book.. Thank you guys so very much.

My wife's uncle was Royce "Tex" Watson. He told me several stories of his wartime experience including flying into the cyclone and meeting Lindbergh. He was one of the men who stayed in the Marines, flew jets in Korea and ended his career flying helicopters in Vietnam. He retired a Major and passed away 01/27/2011.

My direct namesake, my adoptive Father's first cousin, Lt. Robert Lehnert USMC was one of the few survivors.

My Father was part of VMF-422, but was not part of the lost squadron. He arrived right before Okinawa.
