- Four Blocks South's designer Beth Lowenfeld chose black and white as the primary colours for this new-build home. The goal was to create a clean backdrop to showcase the owner's contemporary art collection and a modern palette that would tie all the rooms together.

The big mirror in the main bathroom is stunning!!!
I’m a maximalist, but with this art collection who would need any other adornment! Beth did such an amazing job providing her clients with such a beautiful backdrop, and some very clever storage design features to maintain those clean uncluttered lines. Just gorgeous! A very lucky couple!
The bathroom is so dramatic - - I LOVE IT! and the light fixtures and pendants are absolutely stunning!
Yes it’s beautiful, only thing that i wish she got is deep trimless recessed lights (square, 2700k color)

I’m often bemused when some designers talk about how much kitchen counter space they have created and then clutter it up with everything but the kitchen sink.

Lovely project. I dislike when a home lacks an entryway. It is particularly odd to have a large dining table right at the door. I do not know how to solve the problem after the build is completed. I am seeing it more and more in new builds. The mudroom is great and practical for everyday living. But the place still needs an entryway/foyer.
Agreed! I see it on the average new construction constantly and I dislike that builders and designers involved in such projects don't think that people need some sort of entryways 🤔

Some of this is lovely, yet I still find it odd that you enter the house right into the dining room. I know you have to have an entryway some where... That kitchen is a stunner. Thanks for the video.

Love this home. This is great design and practical.
Not seeing anywhere to put as much as a handbag near the entrance that lands in the dining room. Do guests need to walk through the condo to the “hidden” entrance to hang up coats, take off boots etc? Very odd, impractical & awkward.
As beautiful as it is, it all starts looking the same after a while. Fewer built-ins and a combination of styles and textures give a more lived in and timeless look

The Spanish architectural and interior design company, UDesign, incorporates large backlit round mirrors in their work so it's definitely been done before. Beautiful regardless.
On an unrelated note: the background music in the video doesn't match the vibe of the home. I found it a bit distracting.
When it comes to wall colours to showcase an art collection, look to the Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, The Louvre, and The National Gallery in London. I especially admire the artwork here by Ivan Eyre, but his work, including the sculpture, deserves a coloured backdrop to make it truly sing.

How can the powder room be described like a jewel box when it’s just dark?
Iam always amused when they say "its a small kitchen space" and then shows us in the video a kitchen that big.

I wonder if the heat from the wood burning fireplace will damage the tv - anyone have feedback ?
Always a concern. But not an issue in this case. The fireplace is a top vented version. All of the heat rises from within and escapes a vent along the top. The face of the porcelain remains cool.

Really like the art and the bedroom but the rest of the house, I find, is boring. I don't think that the decorating or design highlights the art - you can tell because nowhere in the video does the art make you go Wow! - which is the effect it must have originally had for the owners when they bought it. I think the rooms look like a million others, there is nothing daring or beautiful or spectacular about any of the design or decorating.
