I always trust a sound engineer with long hair.
LMAO
Long hair are the base for peak sounds. Anywhere on the Earth.

Finally quality real time pitch correction without an iLok and without bloat.

Dave - I will echo one of the other commenters: this is probably one of the most well-done tuts I've ever seen! You not only methodically explain the function of each plug-in control, but you also provide a musical explanation of the how and why. Superb!
This is one of the best "How to" videos I've ever seen!
I agree and he puts it in terms the average Joe and understand
I just got waves tune real time and I gotta say that shit is magic
factssss
lol
Where did you get it from?
@@mariojackson3667 Its on sale for $29 dollars right now if you still need it. Waves is the company
One of the better tutorials out there. The bussing and use of reference bus to vocalist was killer.
Best pitch correction video tutorial ever made
Going to try this for the first time tomorrow hope the band appreciate it
Really helpful and well paced tutorial, thanks Dave!
Always love this man's tutorials
Excellent demo, well done.
Mahalo from Maui Dave and Mike. (and your feelings...) One of the clearest and most relaxed tutorials I have ever enjoyed watching.
You sold me! I'm headin' over to Waves and jump on some vocal surfin'!!
SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
I'm really impressed how fantastic it works!
Brilliant plugin
Very professional video. Setting the standard. Thank you.
Great video guys! Love the song, also.
Very thorough and useful tutorial ... much appreciated, thanks!
Dude, Dave, you're awesome. Gonna see what other videos you're in now.
I like how you explain sir...will wait the price drops!
That’s my friend Michael Flannery Glad to see him in this demo
great job by this dude

Thanks for the tutorial! Now I get how this plug-in works😄
Waves audio is my favorite place to get high quality plugins...

Rock ON!!! Great tutorial brotha!
I learn so much from your guys videos as a independent artist and recording engineer I hope one day I can be endorsed by you guys. Geneo van engers.
Great explanation of formants!
Great video, thank you!
Very good explained 👍
Call me crazy, but I like the simplicity of the plugins that come with Logic Pro X. Its pitch correction tool works on the fly like this one, and Flex Pitch allows you to manually tune individual notes, complete with vibrato, formant shift, etc. No robotic sound whatsoever. It's quite natural! Best part is, it's all free!
@@scottw2916 no logic has a real time pitch correction plug as well, but its limited and definitely causes artifacts. Obviously a standalone plugin built for a specific purpose is going to give better results than a bonus feature of a daw.
Still, technology is pretty awesome and were blessed to have so many tools at our fingertips..
Waves Tune Real-Time is really really good.. I don't get why Autotune has such strong position in this segment. Antares has SOOO many glitches with their license management, every month something breaks and you need to waste an hour managing your licenses with Autotune -it's really awful. With Waves, it works smooth. It sounds really good. It's easy to use. Some people hate Waves .. haha.. .but I have to say it's quality software without bloat. Thank you for this great tool!
Thanks. Very good informative video.
Very good video thanks i have got my wave just today. It is good for everyone especially when you are making some pop or whatever.
Great Plug-in for Hip Hop Vocals. I also have Waves Tune, but real time waves tune has a way clearer sound in less amount of work. Its a great step forward for a fair price.
Do u have to use wave in tune real time in real time lol? Or can u still add it after u record as well??
@@inlovingmemoryofdouglasmul5216 You can put it on every audio afterwards.

OMG. YOU SO KIND. THANK DAD
David Bowie would sound amazing on this track. Thanks for the tutorial! I am considering buying this software and this was a great demo.
Thanks Dave
great, thanks!
Awesome, thank you :)
Beautiful la2a in thé background 😁
This needs to be a pedalboard for bands' live use.
There‘s a Mic Mechanic for that.
Great thanks
I love that there is "illegal" notes
To be honest, I mean I've got clients that go off pitch but nothing as bad as this guy :/ :O the fact that this can somewhat sound half natural is a miracle. This dude hit literally nothing in terms of the notes. Honestly, the smartest way to use wave plugins to pitch correct is to pitch correct the notes you really need to with the graph of the original waves tune, but really focus on fine tuning It, if you know how you can really do amazing things with the graph of waves tune, and then run it straight into this plugin after that to clean up and bring the polish of that autotuned sound without getting any distortion in the pitch. Same thing as going melodyne into autotune basically, a very common thing that they do at the higher levels of the industry.
around 09:05 where he is really having a hard time trying to describe the "autotune" effect, without using the word autotune :D
I thought the exact same thing. Haha
same here lol
Auto tune is the name of a trademark for a brand that makes these pluggins.
Pitch correction it what the pluggin does.
Oh, and remember kidsL Even when you try your hardest... God it's so hard just to leave your head.
The talent it takes to purposely sing out of tune...wow. Well done!
I can do it effortlessly!
Wan Meireles good on you!
@@Boxofrocks69 But I can't sing in tune purposely, though.
@@wanmeireles7182 lol
You mean no electro trash like auto tune. Thank you so much.
Promo today USD 35.99 at Waves. I considering to checkout this one. Thanks for the video!
I'd love to see this at work with a non-singer... someone who CAN'T sing... like me! :)
Would like to see that too but I think as with other auto-tune software it's for correcting minor pitch variations. It's not for creating miracles ;) Would definitely be interesting though.
if you use the midi input, you can play the exact notes on a midi keyboard, and it will tune your voice to that note. so even if you're completely tone deaf, you can draw in the exact notes and be perfect
Randuski kool
If you don’t know how to sing or can’t sing you will sound awful the autotune effect will sound horrible
you can always sound life future

Very very very helpful .. and people say you don’t learn off tutorials smh
Question about the routing he is doing:
So I set the Output of the Clean Channel to lets say bus 1. On bus 1 I put WavesTune Realtime and Output it to (lets say) bus 2? And then Record Bus 2 and the clean Channel simultaneously, am I getting this right?
Bought this. Kind of felt the vocal really did not need much work. It is much harder to use when your vocal is more out of tune. I've noticed that it sounds pretty processed in those kind of situations.
Can this be used for something other than vocals...let's say a synth or pitch-bended or sound-mangled effect that may be slightly out of tune? Or can it only handle less complex sounds, etc?
great ut i have a question please ,Is this plugin works with the songs witch already recoreded in mixing???
perfect for singers who can't sing but think they can oh boy!
savaaaage!
Guess some people just never understand that what matters is the end product, not the tools.
@@paavoilves5416 I get a kick of people who rag on auto-tune or any other pitch correction software. Yea, some people go overboard with it, but if someone is going to claim that using pitch correction software is "cheating" or "making a bad singer sound good" as if it's somehow immoral, then what do they think about eq, compression, saturation, delay, reverb, etc etc? All of those plugins do the exact same thing. Which is make the vocal sound BETTER than it did without any of it. Quite hypocritical for someone to rag on one plugin, then give a free pass to many others that manipulate the voice in other ways, albeit in different ways, but they're all tools designed to get the best out of a recording. I say, use what you need to get to the desired result. The folks listening to and buying the music couldn't care less.
Can anyone out there answer my question? Do studios have pitch correction devices to fix / flat or sharp notes played live in studio or love on stage performances or during final mix down ?
Hi Dave, I'm using Waves Tune Real Time in abelton live. I've automated the scale root but it keeps randomly disabling automation. I've tried correcting this but it keeps turning off during my live set. Any tips for me?
I don't think the algorithm would support such major transitions... I'd highly recommend multiple instances of the plugin punching in and out whenever needed....
14:02 "or D# in this case" 👏🙌
top tool
can I practise my pitch by using this ?
just to make sure that Im in the key...

“Every scale known to man” except Indian scales, and a bunch of Greek scales which I learned when I was living in the mountains in Greece 🇬🇷
Most of the Greek scales are actually listed in the drop-down menu at 5:44 (Dorian, Myxolidian, Phrygian, Locrian, Lydian)
@@yorickstrangefield2976
Agreed, those are those are modes based on the major scale.
I’m talking about some crazy trippy stuff that you find up in the mountains in Crete... ancient stuff with 1/4 tones and stuff !!!!
Woohooo
Okay, just bought it for my studio and also FOH jobs
i like your tutorial .. can you help me out how to fix mic latency .. i tried with asio4all nothing good hapend even worse. so i god some soundcard in pc and scarlet 2i2 but i cant record cuz theres a lot od latency
How sing live in scene with Auto tune best effects (example Vibrato) ?
When will you guys make a izotope rx7 rebalance type plugin?
I kinda liked the minor 3rd.
Hey Dave, great vid...have a question though. I don't see anywhere that lets you simply hit a setting (maybe just chromatic??), without a specific key, to give me a little help in a performance setting. I don't want to be reaching down to my computer every time to hit the key. Are there recommendations you might have on how I can achieve this goal using this plug in?
Hey Monticello, just set it to C Chromatic and you should be able to sing whatever you want. I think if you want perfect pitch for each song though you would have to create a pre set for each one. Otherwise the plugin can't tell what note you're trying to hit or what key you're in and might not work the right way. Does that make sense? Hope this helps :)
Wow ... only a big Wow =)
Can someone tell me how to use this plugin with MIDI KEYBOARD?
it just not work if i only have a audio track.
but even i got a audio track and midi track but still not work.
cuz i cant fine a enable MIDI input in this plugin?
or what keyword should i google to fix it?
thank you!
Yen Yen Hsieh doesn’t work with midi
So having said all that, would you recommend keeping formant on?
Anybody ??
At 13.21, why do you through an Aux track? Why not just go directly from your first Mic track to your second audio track with Tune Real-time on? Can you control the level from the Sends in Pro-Tools? I use Logic.
In a live situation with both a Monitor desk and a FOH desk how would you suggest using it? It's a given FOH would love it but what about the performer? Do you think they would want to hear the tuned vocal? I imagine they wouldn't want to hear it. Any examples of why they would want to hear it and how you would use this plugin at both FOH and monitors at the same time?
Thanks! Looking for real world setup examples
In that situaion, the singer is hearing the untuned vocal trough monitors, and the tuned one is only coming out the PA speakers. Hope that answered your question!
which version we should use the mono or the stereo one????
can you do the train with this plugin ?
Wouldn't mind trying it on my guitar cause as we know guitar notes arent truly in tune across the fretboard... might sound like piano though...
I j got it yesterday for Black Friday xD lol it wuz a good ass deal
From 89$
To 35$
i just bought it today and i cant find where to run or open what this guy is running in the video it says product installed and everything
@@xXSteve1021Xx it’s probably sitting in C:\program Files (x86)\Waves\WaveShells V12. Move the .dll file to your designated plugin folder. It’s probably called WaveShell2-VST 12.0_x64.dll. I have a real time pitch correction in Cubase. Similar options (formants, scales, transition speed etc.). Is this really better? $100 better? Could somebody make comparisons with other pitch correction software? Thanks
Absolutely better! Waves Tune already sounded considerably better than autotune, and I always found it sounded better quicker than Melodyne (although Melodyne users are particularly defensive about it!). The pitch correction in Cubase isn't bad but this will sound considerably better. Def worth $99!!
Lets stop and appreciate that this guy has a normal size monitor and analog gear all around him
Вот это крутяк надеюсь это круче Мелодайна!

What’s the best settings for the Speed and Note Transition?
i used the same routing process but not able to record on the tuned channel can please help me with this
Will this work with I dividuals instrument parts that may be out of tune or completely off key? And why is this $30 bucks vs Antares auto-tune which is $300 and $400.
Hi. If the song has mix scales like major, minor, what settings hv to choose. Because bottom in the plugin, there is only major or minor option to keep one at a time.
@@tibispeedoMacale great. Thanks a lot for your response. I hv one more question. When I do mixing in headphone, it sound differ in monitor later. Why is that? What is the best option for mixing, headphone or monitor.
For studio use is this a significant improvement over Waves Tune? It seemed to track and correct the vocal with less robotic qualities than my experience of Waves Tune despite similar settings in Speed and Note Transition etc.
Different tools for different use cases although both can provide a similar result. Waves Tune Real Time would be used when you require the tuning in real time, such as a singer needing tuning in real time. Waves Tune is more for when you have a pre existing recording that needs tuning, or when you need more control over the different settings. Main differences would be the latency.
Wow! Hi, can you reverse it? Learn to real singing? I mean, that the software can correct me somehow, so I can sing live perfect? So software coeerct me, to train may ears to sing in real time a good pitch?
Mister :)
Why does it show one set of parameter settings in the small window when the guy is singing and then a different set of parameter settings on the Dave's computer in the control room?? Very confusing and calls into question whether any of it is legitimate.
i have os x, logic pro x. i can not control where to start, stop, pause via wave tunes screen, i can get back or forward via logic pro x´s screen, it is annoying. how can you start, stop, play from wave tune´s screen?
moreover, on logic pro x, if i press space, it goes to a point very silly instead of functioning pause ability
