With the surprise return of the Battle for Macragge box in made to order form at Christmas, crashed aquila shuttles will soon be landing at home around the world, and maybe even inspiring people to dig out their own boxes, like I did for this video! Don't over think the painting of the scenery, it will add to your battle field, but it doesn't need to be the main focus! Plus it's crashed so any mistakes are just battle damage! I did an alternative Cadian/Imperial Guard scheme for my terrain pieces as I'll make a lot more use out of them this way, but you can use the same stippling technique in different colours for your own scheme! Hope you enjoy and ask questions if you have them!

Thanks for sharing this video with us. I originally paid $50 for it in 2004, which I felt was a good deal,though it was pricey, then. I think it's $150, or so, now. Crazy. I brought it more for my Son who got into 40k (Blood Angels), Fantasy (Wood Elves) and Lord of the Rings ( Gondor). I was Dark Angels in 40k and Chaos Warriors in Fantasy. Now I hope to build 2 Heresy Armies (2nd and 11th Legions). I pray I can paint them well, as my skill is slightly above novice.

Yeah it should be background to your models! It’s a lot of fun to paint though so spend the amount of time you like in it, but don’t get too caught up that you never get your models done 😂
I always wanted this piece but years ago an annoying friend-of-friend’s annoying kid decided to jump up on the box holding my brand new Valkyrie so that ended up becoming my crashed flyer terrain. I liked your way of doing the windows, much simpler than what I did.

I think the 40k drought is ok, while you focus on it the most, it allowed you focus on things like AoS/Old World, 3D prints, and some other games and their minis.
I always see this set and I think it's cool it feels like an easy to make battle feild where as some scenery is just broken buildings can't wait for the Dark Angels release bone armor is always satisfying to watch come together.
Maybe during the drought you can look at some warcry warbands :)

I had this piece but I gave it away to a local game club after years of it sitting in my "oh yeah, I'll definitely paint that someday" pile. I do regret it every so often but I know it's getting much more use where it is now so I'm not too upset.

My little brother found the original Battle for Macragge boxed set, unopened, back in 2010 at a warehouse he worked at. Now I have an excuse to open it up (love the speed painting vids for legions btw, its been huge for my army).

I think it's about time I dig out my second one and give it some colour. Yes I have two, that's what eBay addiction and buying 2 complete sets of Battle For Macragge will do to you. 🤣One I painted back in my early days and even put transfers that came with the set on it, the second as I said is in need of a paint scheme. It might have to match into my Blood Angels for my up coming Get Started 2.
Fun fact this, the cockpit at least, was actually included in Conquest magazine as a paper terrain piece for one mission, think I ended up with about 2 of that issue and 3 of the one that came with a bridge sheet.

@MediocreHobbies yup the last few issues introduced some fun little terrain bits, from city gates, to anti air guns and the crashed lander.

No not at all. You need a moist brush. So not bone dry but not really wet.

If it's been there for a while then there would be lots of vegetation regrowth. Not just dirt. Whack on a few tufts and 2mm flock in patches and you're laughing.

Personally, I saw no reason to rerelease all those outdated figures in that box, but if they had just rerelease the wrecked scenery I'd have been all over that. 🤷
Yeah you’re not the first person to say that, I thought it was cool to get the whole set at first but then they didn’t do the classic art work on the box or anything so yeah just the scenery would have been better
